They're not confusing anyone with the name. Republicans are such racist shitbags they associate that name with general Middle-Eastern terrorists, that's why they go out of their way to use it. They don't literally think he's Saddam or related. If his middle name were Mohammad it would be no different.

To be fair, I definitely think some are dumb enough to believe it but that's not the reason why they highlight it.
