he thinks he is so super clever for creating an "invisible" tax on the public to magically generate billions. But the thing is, long term it will destroy our entire way of life and our economy, short term...it will never achieve his goal of billions and billions. There is no win here for anyone. Not even himself, unless he takes advantage of the tariffs and pumps and dumps stock after he recinds the tariffs and the stock goes back up. Which could be a way for the few very rich americans to make even more money for...god know what reason, they dont fuking need it obviously. But hey...lets play games with peoples lives and put the economy and future of america at risk just to make a few million in stock gains every few months on a tariff pump and dump scheme...holy shit this country is being run by a den of thieves man and its sooooo pathetic and sad.

I don't think there is a scheme to put tariffs just to profit from stock market moves.

Beside that there is a very long trend of trade deficit for the US. And it can't go on forever. It's linked to dollar expansionist monetary policy and de facto domestic debt, which can last only as worldwide economy also expands.

I think some people in Trump admin genuinely understood that and want reverse its course. But they don't know how to do it whitout making it painful. That I think, explains back and forth in Trump tariff plans.

Trump himself could not come with a good idea his whole life and only try to enrich himself from his POTUS position. He would sign any EO his advisers would put under his nose after a 10 seconds briefing on the matters covered by the EO.

Ya, trump is going to take advantage of the tariff hikes to buy stock when it's low and naturally sell when he gives up on them and they go back up. This is still highly illegal and disgusting but these men operate like this.

He wins by taking bribes from CEOs who want to avoid tariffs.

I'm sure there's a win for him e.g. US government buying bitcoin forcing up the price - let's guess who might be big bitcoin holders?

In most countries this would be illegal, but I guess now in the US, the law is whatever the President says it is - just like Russia.

It think we will end up with a retracting market. Our population is so much smaller and losing their market will hurt. We can start shopping internally if we are willing to give up some things. We will build new business structure on things we lose from them as markets will vacate and need to be filled life will change but I do believe we can survive them. This is why I believe an Economist is the right person to be in charge of us right now. And pipelines must be built.

Definitely shows Canada that monopolizing your trade to one country can be a blow if a virus (Donald ) takes hold.lesson to be learned by the whole world. Canada monopolizes a lot of their daily services one being the phone companies Roger’s and Bell.

He doesn’t get the average American will suffer. Social Security just announced lots of offices will be closed due to DOGE cutback. And you will have to do everything in person now not over the phone. So how do you transport your 94 year old bedridden grandmother to a SS office when she can’t sit up. All her transport to Dr for instance is by ambulance services. This is just inhumane! You are lucky you are Canadian, I admire you. Your country will find a way to trade with other countries and cut us out of the picture which you should. But we are stuck with a horror show, at least for 4 years. I didn’t vote for this ass hat! But here we are, so think about all the very sick, very old who must now go to offices many miles away when they may not have family to transport them or rural and no public transport. And then sit in a SS office which can take up to 3 hours to be waited on. Pray for us please. The average poorer American is so f’ed over.

Edit: Oh, you are Canadian. I thought you called Drumb an economist, while he really is just a retard
