The only person causing economic harm is Trump.

Maybe he should apply a tariff to himself?

u/Candlelight_Fant4sia 9d ago

He's also lowering the cost of living. For example, he's giving everyone free comedy shows 24/7, so Netflix and any subscription is now redundant.

I was more hoping for House of Cards type entertainment but it's more a cringe version where the audience is just constantly facepalming themselves.

23

u/Rising12391 9d ago

It’s basically a very long episode of South Park.

16

u/MortarByrd11 9d ago

Cartman became the president

7

u/Rising12391 9d ago

Nah, it’s Trump himself. See, South Park was sent from the future. And it is actually a documentary.

As House of Cards originated in Europe it is now subject to tariffs.

12

u/Conan4457 9d ago

House of Cards is not realistic, it’s not next level crazy.

Real politics is more in the line of VEEP.

I resent this joke because most of my media consumption has pivoted to political content. I don't even need my streaming subs.

Short netflix?

I did that sideways head tilt at the first sentence like "Really, motherfucker?" Then it grew to a smirk when I read the rest. Well played, sir

I read the headline this morning and said to myself. Love him or hate him this guy adds a lot more excitement (good and mostly bad);to my life

Yes actually the second the next admin gets elected. Just declare a Russian gang as fighting against the US, and declare all the senior Maga people as members of that gang under the 1798 alien enemies act and deport them to guantanamo. Then give it back to Cuba lol

4

u/J_Ryall 9d ago

Well, the Canadian government has been buying billboards reminding americans that tariffs are taxes on the consumer, so hopefully that gets through to some of them.

8

u/Mba1956 9d ago

No he will say any drop in the economy is because of all those horrible people. Nothing to do with him of course.

I say: Lets see how high those tariffs can get. In the end the US citizens are going to pay them. Lets see how much they actually want to pay for useless stuff like energy.

3

u/[deleted] 9d ago

That's kinda what tariffs are haha import taxing American companies

4

u/ringtossed 9d ago

He's just prepping the field. It's so he has other people to blame as the economy crashes. That's all there is to it.

And his supporters will eat it with a spoon.

5

u/cybherpunk 9d ago

His words and his face are everywhere. I'm starting to think Trump Derangement Syndrome is real. We're this close to seeking counseling. I'm also thinking about the kids growing up in this generation assuming that's what a president should be like.

30

u/carryingmyowngravity 9d ago

I mean, all the republicans built the plan together. apparently this all has been in the works by the GOP pre trump. Even if something happens to him, you're stuck with a whole lot of other stupid fucks.

22

u/Tribe303 9d ago

Senior Republicans think he's a useful idiot they can control. Ironically (or not!) this is exactly how Hitler came to power. Franz Von Pappen thought he could control Hitler, after making him chancellor. Doh! However, while Hitler was evil, Trump is just stupid.

11

u/Coachtoddf 9d ago

Evil and stupid aren’t mutually exclusive… he can be both.

4

u/zaiguy 9d ago

Love watching old film of Von Pappen squirming in the witness stand at Nuremberg.

5

u/ambeldit 9d ago

I think they need an external enemy to focus all the frustration and pain he's causing to his own contry to someone else. It's in Page 1 of dictators handbook.

He has several options:  1. inmigrants  2. Canadians 3. Europeans 4. US Woke/liberals.

I think he's Still playing to see who's best.

3

u/Gloomy_Yoghurt_2836 8d ago

In FL. Canadians tourists and snowbirds are facing hostility from Americans now, particularly the MAGA ones. They are being blamed for ripping g off the US and being dependent on US subsidies to survive. Being blamed for socialized medicine making healthcare in the US more expensive. Being blamed for inflation and loss of American jobs. The Republicans really are laying ground to motivate people for justification for war.

9

I still think that the MAGA (who have no clue what’s happening) still worship the orange clown. If allowed to run again, he would win in 4 years time.

There was a report going around outlining the reasoning for his tariff plans.

The main takeaway is that it only works if they avoid retaliatory tariffs. The report stated to do this carefully and diplomatically over a long period of time.

Idiot is incapable of anything but blunt force aggression, so the only way his peanut brain can think to avoid retaliatory tariffs is by loud stupid threats

4

u/Chambana_Raptor 9d ago

Exactly. EZ call. It's economic Darwinism -- the idiot Trumpers don't know how tariffs (or anything else) work. Anti-Trumpers do. Therefore, on average, Anti-Trumpers will end up better off and with more resources than Trumpers in a generation or two.

I'm an accelerationist now. Make them suffer for the first time in their pathetic first-world bubble lives. Take their Social Security. Take their women's rights away. Take their 401K values. Take their home values. Take their vaccines and their advanced healthcare tech. Take their safety from climate events. Take EVERYTHING.

Fuck them into the ground and then keep fucking them. Get these losers out of our gene pool...it's been a long time coming.

20

u/Conan4457 9d ago

So what type of tariff will he impose when the American tourism industry loses billions because foreign tourists have no interest in being detained by ICE agents?

7

u/Lopsided-Ad-3869 9d ago

Not when. It's already happening. I can tell you from a small scale perspective from a very popular tourist destination in northwest Washington State: by now we would be seeing way more Canadian plates as tourist season begins it's upward tick. I have not seen a single Canadian plate on the roads here. I'm gleefully excited for the magat small business owners here to start complaining about low numbers.

4

u/strings___ 9d ago edited 9d ago

They're already whining about it to Canadians. Meanwhile 40% of them voted for Trump.

As a Canadian I have zero sympathy or fucks to give.

160 Canadians died in Afghanistan. And what do we get for it. Being told we are free loaders and our country isn't a real country. Or they laugh and say we'll become the 51st state.

Trump fucked with the wrong country, we aren't going to forget this. There's no going back to "normal"

4

u/Lopsided-Ad-3869 9d ago edited 9d ago

I don't know if you mean me, but I'm not whining. I hate tourist season to begin with and I didn't vote for this unhinged POS. I'm pissed as hell that he's trying to bully Canadians (my spouse is Canadian and I have tons of Canadian friends) and other countries, and that the ICE gestapo is kidnapping people right off the street.

This entire toxic, arrogant and childish country is about to get its ass handed back to it while simultaneously imploding.

I care only about the marginalized people who will truly suffer (including me, I'm trans). Those 40% magats can take a long walk off a short pier - they'll sit in a burning building and pretend they didn't start the fire and that everything is fine.

For me, I'm fighting hard here with a lot of mutual aid groups and using my privilege the best way I can.

2

u/strings___ 9d ago

I didn't mean you. I meant the tourist trap businesses.

I don't say this lightly. You should consider moving to Canada. The US is freedom in name only. Here in Canada we have freedom in practice.

Im waiting for April 2 fool day part deux Enjoy America

7

u/Phelixx 9d ago

As a Canadian I don’t understand. Donald’s tariffs are designed to stop US trade with the US. This hurts our economy so we look elsewhere for trade.

Now he is mad that we are not trading with the US. But the whole reason that we are not trading is he violated his own free trade agreement. It is our preference to trade with the US because they are the closest country. Also we have been closest allies for over 100 years.

At this point I don’t know what Donald wants. I’m not sure he knows what he wants. But you can’t actively attack trade with Canada and accuse Canada of not trading with you. It’s just beyond bizarre.

Also, what kind of politician writes like this.

5

u/unique3 9d ago

Did he expect us to roll over and die the pillock? I do hope the EU goes after services from the US. Hit them in the pocket hardest and possibly the easiest to replace within the EU. Either way I am content with a few bumpy years to divest ourselves of reliance on a clearly unreliable warmongering country. I do really hope President Macron gets his way of butting European only what a fantastic trade stimulus that will be.

This whole country is run by complete idiots elected by idiots who are proud to be idiots.

When do we reach the end of the process and the bombs start to rain? Let's end this once and for all? I wonder what it will take for the Americans to start reacting. I tell myself that if their soldiers start killing Greenlanders and Canadians and let the Russians attack all of Europe, they might demonstrate like they did in Vietnam.

I wish I could believe Americans would react, but it seems there are plenty of people completely on board with this nightmare. I know it is an overused metaphor, but MAGA truly has many characteristics of a cult.

different generation, My generation and younger have lost the spine to make massive changes. They would rather watch Netflix and Youtube videos of others playing games and watch their country fall into oblivion.

European young generations are not much better though, so Russia might steam roll through regardless of any increase in budget as they might just not get any recruits.

Comfort breeds indifference and the West has been to comfortable for too long

Executive orders are now 25% more expensive as patriots have imposed a tariff on stupidity.

1

Can someone put tariffs on this clown? He's causing US economic harm

1

u/iheartbreakfast90 9d ago

I thought we didn’t need them. Why would they cause any harm? /s

1

u/N1nfang 9d ago

The US could balance out trading if it concentrated on being more efficient, ahead or cost effective. You cannot force people to buy from you if you’re the most expensive of options without also having an edge.

Donald Trump: I'm going to lay a beating on you. I expect you to take it passively. If you attempt to defend yourself or fight back, I will beat you even worse.
