Quibbling. You heard DEI and "woke" every day and twice on Tuesdays. DEI and woke are synonymous with race gender and orientation without saying it. Dogwhistle 101. Don't deny the facts. They used an all of the above hate agenda, and it worked.
Oh, I don't disagree with that at all. But the intensity of hate directed towards immigrants and trans people is so above and beyond what I've ever witnessed.
After escaping from Afganistan, US got involved in another war Russia Ukraine & then the Middle East, under Biden administration. The narrative that Trump was going to start World War 3, got demolished. Yeah, it wasn't Biden's fault that Russia attacked Ukraine or Hamas attacked Israel. But it happened during Biden administration. These International Wars were Major Factor not just Local Topics.
Please don't read the whole wall of text unless you're a glutton for it. I think we can just agree to disagree, but i was bored so read at your peril. Zzzz peace.
The facts are that the wars were talking points. It is irrefutable that these were attack vectors, we can agree to disagree that this actually is a concern for the voter.
Essentially, if the event doesn't move the needle when your guy is on watch, but you say it's a "major factor" when it happens on the other guys watch, maybe there are other factors in play.
There is just too much evidence that the republican party is motivated by their media sources than by what they might feel if in a vacuum separated from media influenve. Their fears are fed daily a concentrated barrage of mistrust of dems, and liberal values, along with every appeal to emotions the influencers and talking heads can come up with to line their pockets and motivate them to vote.
The republican voters saw the worst of liberals featured, and never saw the good. They saw the best of Republicans and all of the negative was at least spun to be better than it was or outright denied. Only imbeciles are going to blame Biden for "starting" or not preventing the war in Ukraine. What was effective was pinning the cost on Biden by using propaganda from Russia and lying and bending the truth about costs. I have relatively liberal minded friends that were just parroting the rights talking points of if only we weren't giving all this money to Ukraine we could spend it here on disaster relief for LA and more fire fighters and the like. They spend too much time on Instagram getting their "news", and not digging deep on anything. These dudes are all comfortable single medical professionals making ends meet and don't feel pain and think both parties are equally bad because of insulation and a lack of looking critically.
Yeah, Gaza and Ukraine were talking points, but ultimately it was about protecting the tribe. Not eggs, not the economy, and not people dying in a far off land we are almost certainly not going to put significant boots on the ground to protect.
I agree that there were a lot of attacks on Biden administration, but most were overblown. His lack of youthful clarity in his voice literally and figuratively made any push back useless, and did him zero favors. Kamala sealed the coffin by being a black woman without having done enough visibly to show she could take the baton.
Basically, none of the messaging from the right would have been enough if Biden bowed out earlier, and the dems went through a process of choosing a candidate and checked the polls and didn't gamble on Kamala overcoming the Biden baggage and the black woman baggage.
I don't like to feed the narrative that a black woman is seen as the least desirable choice of the four black/white/male/female options, but it certainly isn't a net positive in the world in 2025. It's my most fervent wish that so many people weren't like that, but alas, I have a lifetime of experiences telling me this is the case.
Hey, still with me? I would be surprised. This is all a dead horse.
I'm not saying they are exclusive. But have you seen the intense focus and hate immigrants and the trans community have been receiving? Over 200 million was spent on anti-trans ads by Republicans in 2024.
Yes. I’m a lesbian woman in a relationship with an immigrant Chinese woman. Of course I’ve seen hate. All I’m saying is that xenophobia and misogyny also encompasses anti-trans, anti-woman, anti-poc, etc rhetoric. All of these beliefs held, are incorporated into xenophobia and transphobia.
You have that flipped. Racism is a stem off of xenophobia. Xenophobia = "fear or hatred of that which is different, foreign, or strange to you," and racism is when what is different is race
Yep. And anyone who thinks there are magic price levers in the Oval Office for groceries and gasoline is a fucking idiot and lost cause to begin with.
Ironically enough while the sitting president can't really do much to lower prices of anything, he CAN single handedly skyrocket all of them by using a bullshit made up "emergency" as justification to unilaterally impose massive tariffs on every other country on earth.

This election? Xenophobia and transphobia were relevant and, IMO, bigger reasons.
Go look at how much Trump and Republicans spent pushing anti-immigrant and anti-trans ads.
