Discussion I am almost done...': Elon Musk reveals date quit Washington DC
https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/international/global-trends/us-news-elon-musk-doge-1-trillion-cost-cutting-may-end-i-am-almost-done-elon-musk-reveals-date-hell-ditch-trumElon Musk plans to step down from his cost-cutting role in the Trump administration at the end of May after reducing the US deficit by $1 trillion, the tech billionaire said on Thursday, according to The Fox News. Musk, 54, expressed confidence in getting close to that goal, which would halve the annual federal deficit, in just 130 days — saying his team was averaging “$4 billion a day, every day, seven days a week.”

He doesn’t need to stick around, he already stole the data he wanted, he destroyed the agencies investigating him and his companies, he installed his people in every single agency of interest to him and his businesses. The virus known as DOGE has already infected every inch of the country. Now he gets to walk away to rebuild his image while denying responsibility for the outcome of all his fking around the government.
138
u/muddaFUDa 7d ago
He’s being smart. He knows that when the economy collapses if he’s still running DOGE then he will be the scapegoat. But if he undermines it now and skedaddles he can pin it on Trump. At that point people will be clamoring for Elon to come back to “finish what he started”.
60
u/discostu52 7d ago
This is correct. He knows trump will toss him under the bus at some point, so it’s better to run before the impact of his actions are actually felt by the general public.

He’s not smart. He just can’t work more than 130 days as a special government employee

He’s already broken the conflict of interest section of the United States Code, why stop there

You can argue about who is going to blamed, but I'd be willing to bet millions of dollars, if I had them, that NO ONE is going to want Elon to come back for any reason. He is wildly unpopular with both sides.

I imagine they installed some ransomware so that they could shut down all government systems if the need arises.
6
u/antifazz 7d ago
His whole goal was to find out how he can steal $1 trillion. Goal achieved he is ready to leave.
8
u/Mushie101 7d ago
Exactly this. He got rid of all the previous contracts that his companies were competing in and didn’t get. Then magically space x, Tesla and starlink have all these contracts.
He’s managed to get rid of all the committee’s that were investigating him for fraud etc and tax evasion, do he has done his bit.

With the destruction of the federal government maybe it's time for states to consider joining the European Union.

Why can’t a single reporter ask that basic question; “so you stole all the data you needed?” And bonus; “so you have all the no bid contracts locked up that you needed?”
→ More replies (2)7
u/Coldatahd 7d ago
They ain’t about to do that as they’re worried about losing their press access. This is why they kicked out a bunch of news agencies from Pentagon and removed Associate Press from covering the President on Air Force one. Was basically a warning to keep the press in check, look at what they’re doing to Law firms. They’ve been systematically setting examples of people to reign in any bad press .

u/AustinBike 6d ago
He is also announcing the leaving before he has to face a quarterly call where he'll be peppered with questions about how badly Tesla has come off the rails, because of him, and why he is spending all his time playing DOGE instead of playing CEO.
Now he has circumvented that, and even though numbers are going to continue to go down in Q2 he can at least bring the appearance of coming back as the savior to right the ship.
He had his fun, DOGE is going to face headwinds, so now it is time to move on.

u/AdventurousAge450 7d ago
Even if he was saving 4b everyday, and we know he isn’t, that doesn’t add up to a trillion. Is he that bad at math or that bad at lying ?

Should take 250 days total, I guess.
But we know all of his numbers are BS.

You’re not doing the math right - save 1 billion dollars, then claim it’s a trillion dollars when you factor in future value (in around 600-900 years, depending on the inflation) - MISSION ACCOMPLISHED ✅

I do hope charges will be brought up on any fraudulent stuff being uncovered. When does this news come out? 👍🏻
11
u/meesanohaveabooma 7d ago
Crazy thing is none of it is "fraud". You could argue wasteful spending but that comes down to particular agenda. And at the end of the day, the allotted funds are doled out by bi-partisan Congressional voting.
For instance, I think the defense budget is too high and is wasteful. I worked for a DoD contractor and we overcharged for literally everything, because that's what they paid out.

u/President_Musky 7d ago

For there being consequences, the US society needs to speak, organize itself and take action
But that won't happen because that's communism, so everyone stays in their phones complaining and shouting at the tv

u/qole720 7d ago
Lol. It's been 68 days since inauguration day. According to the DOGE website, they've saved $130 billion. That's 1.91 Billion per day at 7 days per week. Less than half of what he claims. And it will probably cost the government 5 times that amount to repair the harm he's done.
9
5
u/davesmith001 7d ago
And what he did won’t even matter. The only people who can cut gov spending are in congress. Doge can cut 1T but the clowns in congress keep spending more. They will just waste it on something else when he’s gone.

His goal has always been to feed his AI with all the information on every US Citizen stolen via these digital raids. No other AI will have such data and he can then sell to the highest bidder. In effect he is building Skynet, using your recently exposed private data. He needs to be kicked out asap before he has all hoovered up the data needed to pull Skynet off. This is bad shit.

u/CriminalDeceny616 7d ago
$1 trillion saved, sure. Why not. Musk must've used the same appraiser who valued Twitter/X at $44 billion before he sold it back to himself.
In other news, I have a number two pencil that's worth $5 million and a 2003 Honda Civic worth $2 billion. I learned from my boy Elon how the game is played. I created the papers for it myself. Boy, am I gonna get rich!
2
u/IndividualSkill3432 7d ago
He is impulsive and makes claims that he will not follow through with such as his vote on him remaining CEO of Twitter. Mentally he may imagine the bad reputation of Telsa is simply down to his participation on DOGE when outside of the US most are barely aware of it. Its his closeness to the administration that threw Ukraine under the bus, is backing away from NATO, is threatening Greenland and Canada and imposing insane tariffs on the global economy.
"Act in haste, repent in leisure". He jumped abord the MAGA train in the middle of last year, perhaps around August or so. Its never leaving him and the chaos in the world Trump is creating will be associated with him for the rest of his life.
Howard Hughes and Henry Ford had dodgy politics or crazy personal issues towards the end of their lives. They at least did not have Twitter to live stream their stream of conscious thoughts on every issue of the day nor be front and centre of major political programs that were hugely unpopular.
They have the Tesla earnings call near the end of April.

Im tired so someone check my math. Yes he said $4B per day, 7 days a week. Through the end of May is 60-ish days. 4x60 is 220B. DOGE site currently showing 130B “saved”. My abacus is not working but pretty sure that is not $1T. Is he using K-Hole time?
