RECESSION TIME BB WOOOOOOO HERE WE GO /s

65

u/Sweet-Mechanic4568 3d ago

We’ll be lucky if his gaggle of idiots don’t bring on a global depression.

30

u/No_Lemon_3290 3d ago

There's definitely going to be global impact and decline. It's already happening but everyone just going to trade with each other and leave the US out.

If you can count on Americans for anything it's to get pissed off at inconvenience. Major tax hike on the things they consume will rile up the masses sooner or later.

34

u/Sweet-Mechanic4568 3d ago

I would have believed that 10-15 years ago. But Americans have lost the ability to agree on common truths which is why our politics is the way it is.

At any given time, Half the population would rather believe a lie made by whoever they support than admit their side fucked up. Left and right.

20

u/Anxious-Psychology82 3d ago

Y’all say left and right, but I never hear what the left is blatantly lying about it’s only ever mentioned that they are just as bad as the right yet no one ever seems to explain what they’ve done to be just as bad as the right? Biden never violated the constitution undermined the branches of government and he never allowed an unelected billionaire to invade our government and chop it up as he pleases, they never undermined allies, nor emboldened Nazis, white supremacy. So explain it. Make the comparison and provide evidence. Because by the track record the left was way better for America, and the global economy as well as for global stability than the right.

8

u/Big-Wrangler2078 3d ago

For real.

Like, I theoretically agree that the left is also corrupt and full of politicians who cares more about lining their pockets than about the little guy and that none of the last couple left presidential candidates have been great choices.

But they never WILLFULLY TANKED THE FUCKING ECONOMY.

3

u/tutoredstatue95 2d ago

The democrats have an issue with special interest groups, insider trading, and promising things they can't deliver.

The kicker is that so do the Republicans, who do it more brazzingly and at a much higher frequency. On top of that, they are now actively undermining democracy and the rule of law.

We need to fix those two glaring issues before even thinking about tackling the other 3. The both sides argument is complete nonsense at this point. If they actually cared, they wouldn't vote for the people who do everything the democrats do and more, much more.

Sure, every party has its faults, but point out both sides in this landscape is like pointing out that both a large dog and a velociraptor could technically kill you. You're right, but who gives a shit about a dog when there's a velociraptor in the room too.

2

u/Adventurer_By_Trade 2d ago

"Special interest groups." You mean people. It's people.

1

u/truthovertribe 2d ago edited 2d ago

Still...this is how corporately owned Dems do. "Look at that velociraptor over there" they say..."I may take this money from mega-donors and sell your interests out, but that thing there, boy oh boy...that thing will kill you!".

Their message is "you have no other/better choice". Until Americans educate themselves, care about facts and care about other Americans who are different from themselves, the wealthiest will continue to manipulate us all, both the so-called left and the so-called right.

3

u/tutoredstatue95 2d ago

Well, maybe people should start listening to the "look at this velociraptor over there" and take care of that very real and pressing problem. It's really not a hard concept and you are purposefully muddying the waters.

u/Hanswolebro 2d ago

I mean the reason Biden dropped out of the second race was because the left was critical of him. It’s crazy to compare the left with the right on blindly supporting their party

8

u/No_Lemon_3290 3d ago

You might be right. I have to imagine the Red states are going to get hit the hardest. I know Canada targeted goods coming in from them.

I would be shocked if people in Kentucky are not already facing major job loss in the alcohol industry.

Automative industries are getting hit next.

Farmers are hurting from bird flu then add in tariffs.

Be pretty insane to see them double down but I guess that is possible.

3

u/Blubasur 3d ago

Farmers in CA will also have a lack of water this summer because trumpet opened the dam for some reason.

1

u/SprinklersSprinkle 3d ago

I have a tad more hope than this. Just a tad though.

1

u/Asleep_Trick_4740 3d ago

They are doing this so they can drop taxes. Do you really expect enough people will actually see through the massive tax breaks for the hidden taxes? I certainly don't...

1

u/RepublicansAreEvil90 2d ago

Trump told everyone he was going to give us more inflation but because it’s orange Jesus it’s a good thing now. Inflation was only bad under Biden because democrat or something

12

u/Unleashed-9160 3d ago

They will.... 2027. Mark it.

3

u/Competitive-Fly2204 3d ago

We will be feeling this till the life leaves our bodies.

2

u/khizoa 3d ago

its a feature, not a bug

3

u/wangchungyoon 3d ago

Don’t worry we’re triple taxing uninhabited islands too bigly

2

u/rodgee 3d ago

All he needs is to bankrupt America, wipe all international dept and start again! Genius

1

u/truthovertribe 2d ago

He is the King of bankruptcy if the number of personal filings is any indication.

2

u/CryptoScamee42069 3d ago

When he said Make America Great Again I didn’t think he meant the Great Depression

2

u/16quida 2d ago

My first recession as a real person (I was like 10 during the 08 crash). I'm so excited! What do I do!

/j

2

u/abandgshhsvsg 2d ago

Be poor! Or get poor-er! You’re already going it! You’re a natural kid

21

u/Goldarr85 3d ago

549 and dropping 😂

11

u/Hot-You-7366 3d ago

this is 100% about the tax cuts, the tariffs are set so he can inflate trade numbers for the next ten years for tax math. After GOP gets tax cuts done, Trump will say deals were done and tariffs will be repealed.

The real concern is what will credit ratings agencies do to our debt...

We are gonna see a Volker ish jump in yields.

Hyper inflation engaged.

9

u/TailDragger9 3d ago

Because everyone knows that markets just hate stable and predictable monetary and economic policy. Clearly this administration is just making the only sensible move here

/s, just in case.

12

u/Hot-You-7366 3d ago

why markets loved sleepy joe.. didnt mess with the markets, and invested US money into infrastructure via Inflation Reduction/Chips act.

6

u/IcarusOnReddit 3d ago edited 2d ago

I bought my puts yesterday like a sucker… oh well. Probably make some money for tomorrow and Friday exp.

Edit: not huge money, but I did okay!

u/PrettyFlyForALawGuy 3d ago

Born too late to experience Smoot-Hawley, born just in time to experience something just as f*cking dumb and self-destructive.

30

u/Therealchimmike 3d ago

could be worse. Reports are these numbers are the most aggressive seen since the 1800s.

21

u/El_Gran_Che 3d ago

Hey you missed Great Depression 1.0 but not 2.0

16

u/jhaluska 3d ago

This is even dumber. Like we have 95 more years of economic history to show how dumb it is.

3

u/activatedcarbon 3d ago

Born just in time for smooth-brainey.

206

u/Vortep1 3d ago

Any chance of us not instantly entering a recession have been destroyed the moment that board was brought out.

78

u/Appropriate-Crab-514 3d ago

Don't worry dude, he's got his sharpie at the ready to fix the downtrend /s

23

u/RealisticMarsupial84 3d ago

He’ll bring out the gold sharpie so the line goes up extra extra bigly!

3

u/charlie2135 3d ago

He'll show that the bitcoin he's hawking is going up tenfold in value

25

u/Coldatahd 3d ago

They need to archive that board for future museums 🥴

9

u/Honest_Driver6955 3d ago

“Son is the board that started the second great depression. I didn’t buy puts, so my family ate lentil stew for the next decade.”

3

u/StolenPies 3d ago

He kept the sharpiegate map in the classified documents basement. Guess he was proud of how he got away with such a bold lie, no reason why he wouldn't keep this one, too.

1

u/low-spirited-ready 3d ago

I think that was the first cut-and-dry illegal thing he did as president? Like there wouldn’t even need to be an investigation, it’s just flatly illegal to falsify government weather reports.

11

u/saru12gal 3d ago

Dont worry its only been what 3 months? you only have 45 months left or 1374 days or 32976 hours or 1.978.560 minutes or 118.713.600 seconds, thats nothing to worry about :)

4

u/VMSGuy 3d ago

Geez, what a stupid prop...small print that nobody there would be able to read...surprised he didn't bring out a flip chart.

3

u/andreis-purim 3d ago

Recession? We are heading into an economic depression after that one.

2

u/SwampAss3D-Printer 3d ago

Think about it thirty years from now, they're gonna write text books, and when it gets to this part of the century, there's gonna be a fucking picture of him pulling out the damn tariff board with a caption of how this marked the beginning of the Greater Depression.

1

u/Spirited-Tie-8702 2d ago

Don’t you mean the GREATEST Depression?

1

u/Daleabbo 3d ago

It's not a recession if you fudge the numbers...

145

u/Successful-Train-259 3d ago

Lol futures down over 5% for TSLA. Headlines in conservative groups "dow and tesla stocks soar as liberation day a huge success".

54

u/parasyte_steve 3d ago

Lmaoo yeah stocks traded positive for a few hours this week. They did it!!

This trend will surely hold through tomorrow!

/s

17

u/TeaDrinkerAddict 3d ago

Tomorrow: BIDEN ERA POLICIES HANGING OVER THREATEN TRUMP’S BRILLIANT ECONOMIC PLAN

6

u/Typical-Ad-4135 3d ago

Four legs good, two legs bad. Every Napoleon needs a Snowball.

7

u/glitchvdub 3d ago

It closed as positive at 4 PM. Trump announced his tariffs at 4 PM. Well no shit they were positive, they had no time to react in normal trading.

1

u/Successful-Train-259 3d ago

When markets open tomorrow morning there are going to be people who are suicidal on here.

2

u/glitchvdub 3d ago

Stock markets, I know nothing about them… That was Biden fault, he set it up… Trump probably.

5

u/reddituseronebillion 3d ago

To be fair, unless you catch an updraft, all soaring involves a steady loss in height.

3

u/Daleabbo 3d ago

They aren't plummeting, they are falling with style!

u/reddituseronebillion 3d ago

This guy goes 2 infinity.

He brought the board out. No one wins when a board comes out.

9

u/Simple_Tings 3d ago

He should have put it in a box, anything that comes out of a box is instantly over

4

u/P3ngu1nR4ge 3d ago

boxes > boards because anything could be in the box.

Do you pick the $5000 or do you pick the mystery box?

4

u/Honest_Driver6955 3d ago

I picked the mystery board. Sorry, guys, my bad.

5

u/superstevo78 3d ago

especially after you prove that he's a goddamn moron by drawing a mark around Alabama to prove he was correct about the hurricane path...

4

u/Fluck_Me_Up 3d ago

I saw RCAT down 10% in a Robinhood notification and then immediately turned on the news lol

60

u/lococommotion 3d ago

Thanks for doing this 10 minutes after my 555 puts expired worthless and my 558 banbet got lost. I’m not bitter.

29

u/Itchy_Pride1392 3d ago

Bro he literally announced days ago that it will be at 4pm today

16

u/Fabulous_Cupcake4492 3d ago

No shit. How are people "surprised" by this?!

2

u/Itchy_Pride1392 3d ago

Honestly tho, I've never traded options, but isnt this kind of situation a guaranteed print if you buy puts on spy?

12

u/Much-Management9823 3d ago

Definitely not - the market was bracing for tariffs. If they arrived lighter than expected, calls would print. If the actual signing of the policy was pushed back, calls would print. If he said "we came to great agreements with everyone and they capitulated", calls would print.

Puts were only guaranteed if Trump was guaranteed to be consistent. So definitely not a sure thing lol.

That being said, I shorted the fuck out of TESLA and just made a down payment x2 on my next house, so I wasn't going into this bullish. It's just that betting on Trump is a bit of a coin toss. The man flip flops pretty hard, and has been flip flopping on tariff policy and deadlines nonstop the last few weeks and months

3

u/amusingvillain 3d ago

🤣🤣🤣

14

u/amusingvillain 3d ago

This is what I hate most about Trump. It's one black swan event after the other. I'm still pissed over his TSLA commercial

13

u/WindHero 3d ago

Why only 50% of what others charge the U.S. though, I thought the U.S. was going to be respected again????

17

u/Suspicious_Cable_825 3d ago

Look at that clown ? You think we getting respect with that clown 🤡

6

u/MooreAveDad 3d ago

From Canada …

No, you are definitely not, not during his 1st outing and even way less since 2.0 - I mean the Trump Golf site during round #1 said everything that needed to be said …

2

u/Icy-850 2d ago

Don't bring that golf site up to a Trumper though. You'll lose some brain cells over the mental gymnastics..

1

u/Suspicious_Cable_825 3d ago

I know this already lol wish this dude would deport me to puerto rico wonder who would get my house. Maybe they would want to pay for the mortgage

6

u/StandardAd7812 3d ago

They were somewhat creative in what they included in other countries rate to put it mildly.

7

u/Caldite 3d ago

The US is the richest country on earth. Most of the things imported by the US are essentials and most of the things imported from the US by developing countries are luxury goods. And that's why you have those percentages from developing countries. The big loser here still would be the US consumers. Für example, any perceived cheap food, offer cheap products would get expensive.

2

u/DelphiTsar 2d ago

The Tarif numbers from other countries are completely made up. Seem to be a mix of tariffs, VAT(Which is basically glorified sales tax that the countries also pay internally), and trade deficit %.

1

u/jamesdmc 3d ago

Right if your going to fuck go balls deep.

1

u/SeikoWIS 1d ago

I know you're sarcastic, but many don't know that 50% board is a LIE. It's based off a deficit, not what other countries' tariffs are.

27

u/SwitchedOnNow 3d ago

If you weren't short before this, what's wrong with you? Easy money.

14

u/amusingvillain 3d ago

I shorted to the teeth.🤣 Bought a bunch of short position against S&P

8

u/[deleted] 3d ago

[deleted]

6

u/SwitchedOnNow 3d ago

My plan is to hold as long as it's going down.

1

u/Descendant3999 3d ago

Pretty sound strategy. How do we know when it bottoms though 👀

11

u/Commercial_War5744 3d ago

when a new administration starts fixing this mess

2

u/war16473 3d ago

Not short , but have good as a hedge. Well a leveraged gold etf

10

u/LordBagdanoff 3d ago

KMB and PG gonna moon.  Tissue paper sales gonna beat expectations, probably best quarter/year ever.

7

u/Maleficent-Farm9525 3d ago

What are the russian tarrifs?

3

u/Daztur 3d ago

No new tariffs on Russia.

Or North Korea.

2

u/Mutated-Nut 3d ago

I wonder why.

6

u/mallanson22 3d ago

Member when he used a sharpie on the hurricane board and he thought it made him right? Pepperidge farms remembers.

3

u/bentmonkey 3d ago

I know America had the great crash in the 1920s and 30s but, what if America did Great Crash 2?

3

u/No-Contribution1070 2d ago

If a Great Crash 2 comes to pass, a Great War 3 will most likely follow.

1

u/bentmonkey 2d ago

Yeah the US is gonna build back their economy by bombing Europe back to rubble again, but on the wrong side this time. Yikes.

3

u/MaxPower303 3d ago

Rejoice! You have been liberated regards!

2

u/Vladmerius 3d ago

Before this it was really sad to see that brainwashed UAW guy get up and say plants will re-open and how excited he is about this. Car companies are going to cease production in the US altogether and the only cars being made and sold in the US will be teslas because the US is now the only market for them lmao.

2

u/VonterVoman 3d ago

Everyone will switch to riding bikes, Trump is a climate genius /s

2

u/Suitable-Ad6999 3d ago

I can’t believe he’s had money his whole life. He was a complete ass in the 80’s and 90’s. Owed the banks a billion and told them “that’s your problem.” Stiffed countless contractors and subcontractors. His casino sucked the trashiest one in AC. Real estate and a reality show and he’s initiated a trade war with all of our allies and biggest mfg. One country curiously not on the list

2

u/BottleOfConstructs 3d ago

Everything Trump touches dies.

It's going to require a few more members of the GOP to grow a pair though.
