Of course. If you bankrupt all the small business then you can swoop in and buy them out of bankruptcy for pennies on the dollar.

On top of the huge profits from absorbing new failed properties, you also get the benefit of no longer having pesky competition to keep you from setting prices as high as you want. It's monopoly time, and that's the goal. Monopoly the game was made to show people how awful unregulated capitalism is, and these bozos took it as an aspirational goal.
