Switch to overseas stocks? It's tough. This isn't a disease like covid where you can read about pandemics and have an idea how it will pan out. It's not a bubble pop like housing or dot com. It's someone unstable in power. Willing to make big changes but then reverse them without warning. The bottom could be Monday when he takes them all off, or 8 months from now, when he stops raising them.
I would be interested in your opinion. If the US stock market becomes impossible because the world knows it is too corrupt and rigged by Trump, are there other spaces where you can still invest? The commodities market? I guess there’s a bigger problem here if listing a new company in NYSE and NASDAQ isn’t the way to go anymore? Or is the answer to be found in looking at how the Chinese market works? There’s government interference but yet there’s still a viable market (it would seem) though perhaps the interference isn’t at the level of the Trump mafia.
I honestly don't know. I think going to gold for the presidential term would protect your wealth, but gold doesn't grow and is a pain to deal with. Cash is far easier, and interest for online savings has been close or better than inflation, but if this keeps up, the rates for normal people will go down, and inflation will erode your wealth. Real estate and stocks are the traditional path to grow your money, but I think both are riskier than normal due to being overpriced and the instability of Trump. Even foreign stocks are going to be affected by this. What I have in stocks I'm tempted to keep in. I think he will fill his policy with exemptions, and they will partially recover. I don't understand crypto, and the billionaires are all for it , I avoid it. Maybe move some cash to foreign stocks if inflation starts getting too bad and rates go down. There's a possibility that buying the dip in the US could pay off. He's obsession with the market, and if reporters start asking hard questions, he might declare victory, drop tariffs, and just go golfing. None of this is advice, I'm just trying to think this out like everyone else.
