Question How have your food/drink preferences changed while on Wegovy?
A few I have noticed:
I can’t stand Diet Coke/Coke Zero anymore.
I used to dislike juice but I like it all of a sudden
I used to never eat salads on their own but it’s pretty appealing to me now
How about all of you?

I used to live for my morning coffee! I would go to bed at night looking forward to my lil morning ritual with my old faithful italian stove top espresso maker. And now, do not even think of offering me coffee in the morning 😵💫 i cant stand it 🤣 ill sometimes have a small coffee in the afternoon but my whole morning coffee cozy times are gone! I have to say, its definitely a medication where the bad as made me appreciate the good even more! Its been a roller coaster and some days were harder but i can honestly say, its changing my life for the better.
2
Feb 04 '25
I used to drink lots of tea and can barely stomach one a day, same for coffee.
Can't stand roast chicken.
Anything fatty just tastes awful.
1
u/Tall_Nobody_1300 Feb 04 '25
Same for me and coffee!!! 😵
2
Feb 04 '25
I've gotta say it's such a strange side effect, that I'm not entirely unhappy about. It's nice to just be ambivalent about food and drinks!
I've also noticed that I can go to the supermarket and just buy what I'm there for, instead of trawling around to find extras.

u/seriousrabbit7 Feb 03 '25
I am starting to have an aversion to meat. Been craving veggies and broth recently
1
u/Outside_External5697 Feb 03 '25
Me too!! I haven’t seen that many people talking about that. I used to crave meat. Now, very rarely
3
u/xmycoffeeiscoldx Feb 03 '25
I still like all of my fav foods, but I just don't need to eat much of them. Like, I can have 4-5 chicken wings, 2 spoonfuls of ice cream, a few french fries, etc and be satisfied. The difference is, I don't crave those foods anymore. I do crave salads and chickpeas and fish. I can go without my (previously daily) cup of coffee without a second thought, and just because I'd like something sweet, doesn't mean I NEED it. It's so freeing.
2
u/HulkHogansGroin Feb 03 '25
I used to drink only diet Mountain Dew. I’d say borderline addicted to it. Now I have no want or desire to drink it. It’s weird because people that know me, will buy it for parties because I was such a big drinker of it and I want nothing to do with it now.
1
u/akefjfk2a Feb 03 '25
Yes. I never thought I would love fresh juice and salad. My body is craving for clean food now.
5
u/zyotich Feb 03 '25
I too used to love Coke Zero, Reading your post I realized I hadn't had one in months. I also used to love meat, especially pork chops, ribs, beef steak. I hardly eat it anymore. I used to find chicken breast the most boring unappetizing meat but when I think about eating meat now that's what sounds good. I eat an incredible amount of fruit, which I used to eat very rarely. I still love coffee though, but stick to 1 8 oz cup a day.
4
u/Impressive-Yam438 Feb 03 '25
Yes to the chicken AND to the fruit! Legitimately no other meat sounds appetizing (other than like deli sliced turkey) and I have never eaten this much fruit in my life lol - have to keep clementines, strawberries, and blueberries on hand at all times.
2
u/zyotich Feb 04 '25
Same on the deli turkey and chicken. Last summer I was eating a half a pound to a pound of strawberries a day and losing three or four pounds a week.
3
u/LegitimateHat5570 Feb 03 '25
Pretty much anything that i used to love lol. no more chocolates , takeaway foods , black coffee , sodas , anything with spices. However i can still handle pasta .
My body doesnt like food overall tho lol , i have to force myself to eat
1
u/AcceptTheGoodNews Feb 03 '25
I used to not order salads or other dishes where I felt like I wouldn’t get a large portion of food to gorge on lol now I order whatever looks good. Lost 90 pounds in 15 months and I just eat until I am full and don’t force the rest down. Love this drug
1
u/Glassy-eyed99 Feb 03 '25
Nespresso coffee!!! It tastes like water now, I used to drink it every day and now I have the ick. So annoyed honestly I have so many pods. Just got some instant to try and have a break
1
u/J0si3_R0q Feb 03 '25
I still mostly eat what I want, however sweets are really turning me off. Depends on how sweet tho. Like ice cream is mostly okay. But cookies, brownies, cakes, candy etc make me feel nauseous. But that’s okay I never had that big of a sweet tooth anyway.
Savory foods I can still eat. But it depends how oily it is. Like if it’s coated in cheese, or deep fried. But not too bad. Like French fries are still okay for me it just depends if they’re soaked in oil. Nuggets can be okay. Sometimes strips are too oily. So it depends. I do find myself drawn to more fresh foods. It’s not that I feel the medication is restricting me. I’m very constipated and bloated anyway. So mentally I already don’t crave those types of fast food anymore. Very into sandwiches, salads, wraps and protein.
1
u/AcidAlkaline77 Feb 03 '25
If you're constipated and bloated, that means you're not drinking enough water. And I'd not do the fatty/fried foods anymore; those can lead to constipation as well.
1
u/Timely-Slide-5329 Feb 03 '25
I don’t crave sugar as much. I used to have to have something sweet every night before bed. I got a bag of lindor chocolates back in October I just finished last week when before they’d be gone within a week.
3
u/raechka Feb 03 '25
Alcohol gross. Really sugary stuff is gross. Eggs give me the ick. Basically all I want to eat is cobb salad, burgers and stir fry
3
u/NefariousnessLow1247 Feb 03 '25
I find that stuff tastes different to me all the time. Sometimes coffee is delicious, sometimes it’s so bitter I can’t drink it. I had some vanilla ice cream yesterday and it just tasted like chemicals. It’s really weird.
6
u/Midmodstar Feb 03 '25
Rarely crave alcohol anymore. Crave sweets much less but still like them sometimes. Crave fruit more often.
2
u/hellllojellllo Feb 02 '25
Can’t drink coffee anymore, which is truly bizarre as I have been a coffee fiend my entire adult life.
I seem to only want to eat simple almost child like nostalgic foods like (vegan)grilled cheese and tomato soup, pbj toast, lentil bolognese spaghetti, cut up fruits and vegetables.
3
u/MessageOk239 Feb 02 '25
I can barely eat (or drink) anything; since going up to 1.7, I have this weird “taste” in my mouth that makes EVERYTHING unappealing.
4
u/Girl_Mama35 Feb 02 '25
Rarely drink coffee anymore which is crazy cause I could not go without coffee before!
2
6
u/illiterallyanything Feb 02 '25
I used to be a candy fiend and now I find I can just be like 'ehhh don't need it' it's crazy.
5
u/you_were_mythtaken Feb 02 '25
Crave sugar now, where I didn't nearly as much before.
3
u/Useful_Tiger8817 Feb 02 '25
Try increasing your protein intake. I was told sugar cravings are related to not consuming enough protein
2
u/you_were_mythtaken Feb 02 '25
Interesting. I can try but my protein intake is already pretty high. Thanks for responding.
4
u/JumpComprehensive277 Feb 02 '25
drinks wise i don’t think i’ve changed too much. i barely drank pop before sema but now i really can’t do any carbonation.
food wise i definitely crave protein/meat more than i used to. and fresh fruit.
one thing that was weird recently was hot cross buns. i used to love getting them when they come out seasonally but i had one the other day and it just tasted like chemicals. i couldn’t even finish it.
7
u/MaynardVadenReznor Feb 02 '25
I still have the same taste preferences, but I crave the same meals everyday, if that makes sense to anyone. Like, I’m obsessed with my morning yogurt bowls and I want a grilled cheese sandwich every single day.
6
2
u/Pear-Crumble25 Feb 02 '25
I used to have at least one coffee a day, now I can go days without. I used to love instant noodles, now the thought of them makes me feel sick!
5
u/AggressiveLibraryCat Feb 02 '25
The one time I decided I really wanted pizza and got it, I threw it up the next morning. Haven’t had pizza since (it’s been like 3 months lol)
5
u/DifficultWillow2185 Feb 02 '25
I just finished my first round of 0.5 (I will stay at that level for another round), but Diet Coke started tasting really bad for me this week. I've still been drinking it because of the caffeine and bubbles, but I am almost sure that pretty soon, I am going to hate it enough to drop it cold turkey.
Diet Coke has been my vice my entire adult life, so it'll be good to say goodbye, but I never thought there'd be a day.
1
u/CattoGinSama Feb 02 '25
Same but with Red Bull.It is starting to taste awful. It’s been my nemesis but now never drinking it again seems so easy lol
2
u/DifficultWillow2185 Feb 02 '25
Come to think about it, we had pork chops the other day, and I have never been a sauce person because I like tasting my food, not hiding it in sauce. I had to use sauce this time. The smell of it turned my stomach without sauce.
6
u/FromEden26 Feb 02 '25
I find I want more fruit and am less interested in crisps, chocolate and other junk food.
4
u/Pdrpuff Feb 02 '25
Yes, Beer tastes skunky since day 3 and chicken tastes fleshy. It’s hard to describe. I didn’t realize this would happen. It’s pretty interesting that it alters your perception on how some things tastes. I drink a chocolate protein shake and it tastes fine. 🤷🏻♀️
Water now tastes awesome 😆
3
u/FeetInTheEarth Feb 02 '25
I’ve had a decades long love affair with coffee (with creamer!). I’m noticing that it’s making me a bit nauseous in the mornings, but so far haven’t been able to give it up. Might just persevere 😂
Many sugary and super processed things are now very unappealing though, and I’d much rather eat fresh fruits, veggies, and freshly baked bread, over anything else. Meat is a bit hard, so I’ve been eating a lot more eggs to get my protein in.

7
u/ConfidenceNo7531 Feb 02 '25
My taste preferences have changed a lot!
I’ve always had a sweet tooth, but it’s beyond now. I have gum and lollipops everywhere to help.
I can always eat a salad and I crave them now. I never craved them previously.
I can’t eat meals I loved previously because I’m not in the mood for it. Like eggs and veggie burgers.
I can’t stand any carbs that I loved before EXCEPT pasta. I still live pasta and eat it.
I crave raw veggies and fruit constantly.
3
u/Agent__lulu Feb 02 '25
I feel a little better reading this thread because honestly everything tastes the same to me. Good food tastes good. Even if I’m not hungry, if it’s dinner time and I sit down to eat - the food tastes good and I eat.
Things I never liked don’t taste good (now I’m less inclined to just eat a fry off someone else’s plate because it’s there because I know I don’t really like them).
I only ever drank alcohol for the taste so that hasn’t changed - I think I’ve felt a wee bit tipsy once since starting this med over the summer.
I still drink artificially sweetened sodas daily (and to help with my sweet tooth esp when I smoke weed - diet root beer is my go to).
I wish I did have more aversions but I still have some type of dessert every evening (prob 100 cal worth) - and I’ve plateaued so there you go. I need to stop eating sweets but I love them too much.
2
u/More-Tomorrow2651 Feb 02 '25
The fry thing was a lightbulb moment for me. Anytime I ate out I would get a burger and fries and have no problems finishing every last bite. As soon as I was on sema I realized - I don’t actually LIKE fries and totally just ate them out of habit / because they were there. 🤷🏼♀️
2
u/Agent__lulu Feb 03 '25
I have stopped always tasting things out of habit. Taking that one bite of my partner’s food I used to take.
2
7
u/chicken_of_happiness Feb 02 '25
I cannot drink alcohol anymore. Anything carbonated is a no. Eggs repulse me and I crave a lot more sugar than I used to - especially cake unfortunately.
3
4
u/Cbaumle Feb 02 '25
Same! I gave up alcohol almost entirely, and I was a fairly heavy drinker. I can only tolerate one cup of coffee per day, and my sweet tooth is almost insatiable.
2
u/Pdrpuff Feb 02 '25
I think the biggest effect has been the beer aversion since day 3, haven’t tried anything else. That alone may help with weight loss. If I would have known about this, I would have started long ago.
2
u/residual_angst 1.7mg Feb 02 '25
i used to love hot cheetos - they are repulsive to me now
i used to crave an occasional ice cold diet coke in a can - also disgusting now
have also gone through a meat aversion phase (mainly chicken), although that’s mostly gone now

u/Turbulent-Signal543 Feb 02 '25 edited Feb 02 '25
Pre wegovy, I wanted carbs (potatoes), fried or super processed food all the time.
After starting wegovy, I crave vegetables, meat and fruit- it’s night and day. Fresh cut fruit is as satisfying as eating an ice-cream sunday now. I’m in awe, and I feel like a completely different person, no longer moody and controlled by food.
1
u/Seeica Feb 02 '25
On monjaro I couldn’t eat anything especially eggs crisps sweeties . On wegovy I can eat anything no issues . I’ve just called a Chinese take out .
4
u/One_Baseball2350 Feb 02 '25
I don’t eat peanut butter, nuts, meat, cottage cheese or veggies like I used to. I still like sweets and carbs. I also stopped drinking, it didn’t feel the same and made me feel worse.
2
u/nevernothingboo Feb 02 '25
Me too with the drinking. It's really interesting - and I'm glad because I was drinking WAY too much. It's not like I haven't drank at all since I started (only one month in = .25) but I've noticed a big difference in desire. I used to love margaritas and I've had two in the last month, one of which I couldn't get past two sips, it just tasted bad.
3
u/Cbaumle Feb 02 '25
I used to drink 2 Manhattans a night. I just did dry January, and last night (Feb. 1) went out with friends--and just drank water. I had no desire after. I think they should look into using it to treat alcoholics.

No changes in preferences for me, I kind of wish I would go off diet sodas but I still love my Coke Zero Zero!
6
u/cmdbunny Feb 02 '25
I still like all the food I ate before, I just don't think about it as much and have less of it.
5
u/Filllryfairydust Feb 02 '25
Craving water more, drinking more. Food wise I really enjoy chicken now. Kinda silly but I haven’t had a dessert like I always felt I needed to. When I look at one I’m like meh… this is blowing my mind.
2
u/You-Get-No-Name 0.5mg Feb 02 '25
I feel the same about Coke Zero and Diet Pepsi. Whenever I have a coke now, it has to be regular. I’ve also started craving water more which is good since I’ve always been bad ar remembering to get my daily water intake in.
I also have very little desire for warm food. I almost only eat cold dishes.
7
3
u/Difficult_Cake_7460 Feb 02 '25
I’m not liking chicken - which was my goto for years. I feel like my taste buds are more sensitive in general so I dislike a lot. I crave vegetables which has never been a thing for me lol.

3
u/Beach116SIC Feb 02 '25
Any sugary drink, red wine, fries (my former fav food). No desire for Thai food anymore.
5
u/NervousGremlin Feb 02 '25
I used to love pizza and could eat it every single day but now I’m not bothered about it. And when I do eat it, I only want cheese pizza.
Pepperoni and Italian sausage gives me the ick now.
Ranch dip also gives me the ick which is probably for the best but I do miss it 😭
16
u/Str8Kenergy Feb 02 '25
Booze. Used to be a huge drinker and I am just not really interested at all anymore.

u/Dyannamika Feb 02 '25
Somehow, my spice tolerance has decreased. I used to love eating super spicy foods, but now medium feels like hot or extra hot and jalapenos luck my butt. I can't eat habañero cheese anymore. It's probably all for the best.
7
u/the_endverse 1.0mg Feb 02 '25
I crave protein like grilled chicken and lean red meat. I can’t touch cold cuts anymore because they are horrifically unappealing. Same thing for pickles. Things I didn’t think were too sweet before, taste like a bag of sugar has been dumped on them. This is the first time in my life I’ve also wanted a piece of dark chocolate. (That’s my little treat each day, a small square of dark chocolate.) Like 95% of my food cravings have diminished. The only thing I HAVE really craved? Pizza. No idea why. So, once a week, I have a slice of pizza.
1
u/Filllryfairydust Feb 02 '25
I’ve noticed that about the sweet too. Way too sweet now, even yogurt for me. Hoping I can find one without sugar.
8
u/Imaginary_Cook8996 Feb 02 '25
Food: I still like what I like. But eggs gross me out completely now and unfortunately coffee doesn’t really do it for me the way it used to. I drink it for energy and that’s it
Drinking : I have to do low sugar if I do cause if not I’ll get a roaring headache. Usually a glass of wine or a light beer. My desire to drink has gone wayyyy down
5
3
u/SelfishMom Feb 02 '25
Honestly they haven't. I have been able to make myself drink enough water consistently while on Wegovy, but I still hate it, so I don't think that counts.
2
u/JustFineAndYou Feb 02 '25
Add lemon juice to your water! I don’t like adding flavors so much, but a little lemon helps
4
u/SelfishMom Feb 02 '25
Nope! Trust me, this has been an issue for decades. There is nothing I haven't tried. I simply hate water. Don't bother suggesting anything, I've heard it all.
3
5
u/Zondor1256 Feb 02 '25
I crave meat. Chicken, and steak specifically. Water has taken a wild turn for wanting it almost 24/7 above anything else. Drinking roughly 3-4 liters a day. Apples are fruits from god.
Cant drink pop, especially the zero. I get too gassy because of it. It’s nuts how bad it is even with taking meds to help it.
2
u/GunMetalBlonde 1.7mg Feb 02 '25
I can't have coffee anymore. No desire for it and when my husband drinks it I don't like the smell.
2
u/coffee_yumyum_drink 1.7mg Feb 02 '25
I definitely don’t drink as much coffee as I used to pre-wegovy and I also don’t need it in the mornings anymore. Only reason I still drink it sometimes is to have something to sip on at work when I’m having a busy day
2
u/GunMetalBlonde 1.7mg Feb 02 '25
Lol, username checks out.
I used to go to Starbucks every day, sometimes twice a day. I went on Wegovy and it was like I forgot to go ... and then never went again.
8
u/Aggravating_Town_113 Feb 02 '25
Desire for sugar has gone up a bit, popsicles and juice work for me. I wasn’t pre-diabetic though before starting, so maybe that has something to do with blood sugar.
Some mornings it takes me a while to want coffee, that has been an adjustment as well.
5
u/knuckle_hustle Feb 02 '25
I never craved sweets before the meds. I overate carbs. Now I find myself wanting maple syrup and the like for the first time. Anyone else?
3
u/coffee_yumyum_drink 1.7mg Feb 02 '25
Yeah actually I wasn’t much of a sweets eater before the meds and now I find myself eating the occasional small candy bar here and there
12
u/RandomChickadie Feb 02 '25
Coffee just doesn't hit like it used to. And alcohol is meh.
1
3
u/fadedblackleggings Feb 02 '25
Same on the meh. Even kink doesn't hit like it used to....
2
7
u/sickiesusan Feb 02 '25
It’s the carbonated drinks I struggle with, at times tea and coffee have been meh for me too.
I do think my palate is appreciating the additional fruit and veg I’m eating. For some reason, raw carrot just tastes amazing (it was a childhood love of mine).
3
u/Ok-Information1506 Feb 02 '25
Totally! I also can't stand sugar free drinks of any kind and before I used to drink them a lot. Now I feel sick whole day when I take even a sip. Also anything with artificial sweeteners is now disgusting. Even with stevia although it's not artificial. Now I check the labels regularly since when I make a mistake and buy something with them I know it will go into trash and if I taste it I will spend my whole day nauseous. Also nothing fried especially deep fried. I can use just a bit of oil when I cook. I loved juices and salads before so it hasn't changed. But salads can be only with just a bit of dressing now (mostly made of olive oil and lemon) and juices have to be more natural without added artificial sweeteners or too much sugar. I prefer fresh orange juice that I make.
2
Feb 02 '25
I didn't like coke zero and everything with artificial sweeteners before wegovy, but since wegovy I can't even stand the smallest amounts. I can have one chewing gum (they are all with artificial sweeteners these days), but that is my limit.
I also can only drink one cup coffee per day, in the last I would drink 4 or 5.
Generally I like sweet things more than before, less appetite for oily things.
3
u/endofthered01674 Feb 02 '25
Peanut Butter. Obliterated my stomach week one. Never went back. Been 6 months
9
u/Mish-mash-ing Feb 02 '25
It’s turned me off coffee. I can only have half a cup. I’ve also found cheese and milk (lactose) really doesn’t agree with me. Salty snacks taste really salty now also.
5
7
u/LALW1118 Feb 02 '25
This sounds silly but I love the taste of water now lol. I used to hate water and would drink it as needed but now I’m up and chugging a gallon in the morning. I also have an aversion to meat since starting. I’m much more into veggie heavy meals and I can tolerate roasted chicken every now and then
5
u/No-Day-2990 Feb 02 '25
I actually started buying higher quality groceries. Like I used to buy the natural yoghurt with 1,5% fat of the cheap store brand. It’s nasty I don’t enjoy it anymore. I now get organic 3,8% fat that comes from grass fed cows and you buy it in a nice glass. Tastes sooooo much better.
Also swapped sugar free almond milk back to real cows milk. The upgrade to my morning cappuccino is unmeasurable.
And despite making „higher calorie swaps“ I am actually losing weight. Maybe not as fast as I could but I am enjoying my food so so much more. Who knew buying the mandarin oranges that are twice the price are also better tasting and thus more satisfying.
1
u/Agent__lulu Feb 02 '25
It sounds like before you were trying to force the lower calorie stuff on yourself and trying to like it. Did you not like full fat organic yogurt before?
2
u/No-Day-2990 Feb 02 '25
To be honest: I never tried it and thought it would be quite similar anyway. Why pay for branding?
I grew up fat so I never had full fat anything as my mom always tried to put me on a diet. Well, but comes 2018 I am losing 40kg and ending up in anorexia, and I guess I just stuck with some products out of habit. I honestly believed there wouldn’t be a difference anyways. Joghurt is Joghurt, Right?
But I think also because I have more financial freedom. I have more than doubled my income in the last 3 years. I have started investing in myself with a good gym, paying for wegovy (self pay) and not checking the price too much on groceries. Even in restaurants, chowing the more expensive option if it suits my goals better. Whereas just a year ago, when I was paying back student loans, you wouldn’t have found me anywhere near the branded stuff.
3
u/Flimsy_Trouble4190 Feb 02 '25
Before wegovy I would have up to six diet cokes a day. I barely had one once I started wegovy. I took myself off of wegovy for three weeks and the need for Diet Coke shot back up.
6
u/TBallAllStar Feb 02 '25
I probably cut between 90-95% of what I regularly eat/snack on. I will still have some of those things occasionally, but not like a routine/everyday thing.

u/Rude-Painter-6166 Feb 08 '25
I crave sweets a ridiculous amount. I only want to eat junk food - cupcake, candy, French fries. I previously ate salads and veggies and now those don’t taste good. I loved Greek yogurt and now can’t stand it. No food sounds appetizing to me. I’m considering quitting Wegovy bc I know even tho I’m losing weight I’m still not being healthy and really my goal is to be and eat healthy. Trying to meal plan is hard bc nothing sounds good so then I’ll just snack on sugary things. It’s so weird and frustrating.
