Question Do you take fiber supplements daily?

Just curious! Wondering if I should start taking them to help with the constipation šŸ«

I try to get Sunfiber in once a day. I try to include basil seeds (similar to chia) in with my food and I have 4 to 5 dried apricots every day. But I've had no issues with constipation since including the apricots by themselves.

MagO7 the best thing I have in my life. Chronic constipation before starting, so kept up with it. I take 3 with a big glass of water every night before bed and I stay so regular. It was recommended by my gastroenterologist and my PC said it was gonna be my savior on this med and it has been. Co-workers, also on W, complain and complain about bloating and constipation and I just tsk because they say ā€œoh ya, I forget to take itā€ or ā€œI keep meaning to buy thatā€. It works! It works! It works! Amazon has it and I keep it in re-order. Get it!

Did your gastro say it was fine to take on a continual basis or just on occasion as needed?

Absolutely! In fact, I went to see him because I thought I needed to find a way to stop taking it. He said I should be taking it every day when at the time I was taking it only after days of suffering. With IBS (chronic constipation) there is no cure, only maintenance and it is an excellent form of maintenance. Other stuff was harsh and caused cramping.

Negative. I get anywhere from 30-50g of fiber daily via food. Fiber supplements themselves barely give you a drop in the pond what you can and should get from food. I have amazingly regular bowel movements, and havenā€™t had a constipation issue since I started focusing on fiber as well as protein around 9 months ago.

High-fiber cereal most days. On other days, I take psyllium capsules. Plus lots of water.

No because it wasnā€™t working for me. Now I do miralax, psyllium husk chips, and Senakot. Lifelong constipation (starting as an infant), plus IBS, plus semaglutide= I need a lot.

Fiber in food and fiber gummies, mix in drink to total ~ 20-25g per day

Yep! Making sure I have no less than 20g a fiber a day is essential for me šŸ’©

I take fiber gummies daily. Haven't experienced any constipation yet. I've been on the shot for 6 weeks.

No, I eat fiber in my food. One can of beans and you are pretty much there.

Np. I eat around two large salads a day or one large salad and a big serve of broccolini. Electrolytes are incredibly important for regularity too.

I drink a glass of Metamucil each morning and eat a normal amount of veggies with meals, as well as make sure I drink lots of water. I'm also taking Florastor probiotic, and I'm going to try Align next as I've heard good things.

I take psyllium husk capsules daily with a lot of water. Metamucil was starting to make me gag. Capsules work wonderful.

Iā€™m just supplementing with 1 fibre gummy and trying to eat an apple every day the apple was a recommendation from a nutritionist. I donā€™t tend to eat much fruit which I keep meaning to work on and Iā€™ve actually been enjoying an apple in the mornings. It does appear to help

Eat all the fruit you can. Never tell yourself no to fresh or frozen fruit. Incredibly nutrient dense, many of them are high volumes, and you find a way to develop a taste for certain ones in time.

Itā€™s not that I dislike fruit, I just donā€™t think to eat it. I like bananas and apples and I love oranges but am often put off eating them because they are kinda messy which is silly. Iā€™m not a fan of stone fruit, and dislike melons but hey Wegovy does weird things. Iā€™m actually enjoying a glass of water some days. Have almost given up Coke Zero which has been my main drink for years! Maybe I should try things again?! Tastes change apparently even at 50+

Actually I donā€™t think thatā€™s silly at all. For every thing we think is silly, I promise someone else out there completely agrees- and in this case, you found one here. I love oranges, but I just amā€¦clumsy, and it always leads to a splattering mess. I avoid foods that I know create a mess, even if I like them. Keeps me mentally sane.

Blueberries have been my vice lately. I keep pints in the fridge and devour them regularly. Quick grab, no mess, no sticky crap left on the hands you need to clean. No bowl or plate necessary, so no dishes.

I had terrible constipation. Bad enough to get multiple impactions.

My doctor insisted I go the natural route and just eat prunes. It has worked for me. I eat 4 per day. They are a bit slimy, but super sweet, so they are actually pretty good.

I'll add that this is in addition to making sure my diet is full of fiber (raspberries, avo, beans, etc).

I take fiber gummies and include more fiber-rich foods in my diet. I have no issues with constipation at all.

Same on all counts

For the two years, I've been using Metamucil type along with cholestryamine in the morning. Ibs-d.

I started Wegovy 6 weeks ago. I've no side effects, but without what I take, it'd be difficult to go. Also take the caplets at night, so twice a day. Counts as fiber input.

It depends on how much fiber I get from my food for the day. If lower than I want I will have some fiber gummies.
