Guess I know what brand and model to be on the lookout for when I move. And that I would even need to consider looking into dishwasher recalls in the first place. Yikes.
That sounds right yes. I’m just saying you might not get compensated for returning it anymore since it was such a long time ago. That’s probably why it’s been left in the house.
There is usually no end date to a product recall. Even if you don't learn of the recall for a year or more, you should follow the guidance in the recall notice the CPSC issues.
From your link, OP can either get a repair or a $150 to $250 rebate with the purchase of a select new Maytag dishwasher, assuming these models are still even being sold
We had the same one. It was the 'builder basic' model that every house in our neighborhood built at the time got.
Ours died a few years ago and when I took it to the recycling depot, there was a fridge, a stove and a handful of the exact same model dishwasher in the appliance pile.
Honestly, I'm impressed that it survived catching fire the first time, such that it could catch fire a second time. Most appliances only catch fire once!
Since when do ‘scientific laboratory work’ places use old, domestic dishwashers for lab glassware…? Yall mixing potions in kindergarten or something?
Edit: yall right. With my background it was drilled into my head how crucial safe and contaminate-free glassware had to be, but I forgot labs don’t always mean biological engineering lol. My bad.
You buy what you can afford. Most (many?) labs aren't exactly rolling in money. A small lab isn't going to buy a big industrial dishwasher when a household one will do the job.
Never used a big one, most were about the size of a domestic one or even smaller, but ran hotter with completely different racks (kind of like a square with upward pins and/or a flat perforated steel).
Guess I’m too sheltered too lol. Also in the bio side of things and the autoclave is an absolute necessity to ensure sterility of the lab equipment and glassware.

I work for a place that has a lot of scientific laboratory work. One lab has this exact dishwasher to clean lab glassware. It has caught fire twice.
