He based his professional viewpoint upon "(fairly stupid) partisans on the left". He deserves ridicule for that alone - but then to be proven wrong and own it, thats just what one is supposed to do. Its called Integrity, but its become so foreign that it just doesn't occur to us when we see it but don't recognize it immediately.

If he's like most of the folks on /r/conservative, they are still pleased they voted for Trump because of multiple "good" policies he has put in place. This one, eentsy-weentsy bad policy doesn't detract from the overall greater good as they see it.
The problem being that this "eentsy-weentsy" bad policy is literally taking a sledgehammer to US economic supremacy on the world scale. As long as Trump deports brown people and has DOGE take a sledgehammer to our institutions, they're happy to let the origin of US world-order and wealth turn to ash right before our very eyes, not to mention our 401ks.
Its unreal how much that sub flip-flops. A week ago half the comments were saying the tariffs were asinine and having the opposite effect they were promised, and today its filled with people cheering saying they'll endure the pain for the "inevitable" turn around with all manufacturing being 100% done in the US
It's just sus because if you've trusted trump before, you should know where it leads by now. When Trump tells him tomorrow that this is now a "golden age" will he go through this whole loop again?
