Doesn’t matter that he does. He should be taken at face value. If he says things that look like he is planning to commit voter fraud, force a 3rd term, do stupid shit like tariffs. It should have been taken at face value, even if he genuinely never would have done it.

We shouldn’t be voting for people like that, hard stop. They shouldn’t even be allowed in politics.

It does matter. I can tell you many examples of policy issues that he has said he would do and hasn't.

He should be taken seriously, but not everything he says should be. He only talks in hyperbole anyway. You can't take that at face value.

Even when he says he is going to tarrif as his economic policy, he lies about why. So again, you can't take everything at face value.

I understand this might be pedantic, but nuance exists in politics and is important.

If you can’t take them at face value, they can’t be trusted, which means he shouldn’t be in the goddamn seat he is in right now.

I’m all for nuance but I’m not a goddamn mind reader. I either have to trust what he says or not. It is pretty pointless and in fact stupid to try and decipher if someone in politics is lying about specific topics. A politician you can’t trust, is not someone who should be in power, simple as that.

And I know, I know, that eliminates about 90% of them if were being generous. Well thats the problem isn’t it?

I was arguing whether his words should always be taken at face value, not whether he should be president, or if you could read minds.
