It’s the Standard and Poor’s 500 index, it’s a stock market index that tracks the stock performance of about 500 of the largest publicly traded companies in the US.

It’s a graph taken from a larger article/study.  I’d hope the majority of adults would know what the s&p500 was though for how much it affects our lives, at least people from the US.

Oh I see. No I never got taught that stuff in school and currently my daily life is much too hectic to really care about all that.

Tbf, this wasn’t taught to me in school, but I grew up as a teenager during the 2008 financial crisis and quickly learned a lot of terminology 💀

Yeah in 2008 I was a very dumb 12-13 yr old

2008 also had the Flood of 08 in my state which was a catastrophe to deal with.
