You will never ever convince me that dogs enjoy this.

To be fair, he looks thoroughly unimpressed.

A lot of dogs will shut down or suppress behavior in high stress situations. Hard to say without knowing the animal’s regular patterns.

My dog enjoys shoving himself as far out of the car window as physically possible until I'm forced to close him in, I know he'd love this.
I'm never doing this though.
29
u/alicesartandmore 7d ago
Right? My dog would get a kick out of this but you will never catch me paragliding.
13
u/AngelPlaysDirty 7d ago
When I first got my dog, he would try to "catch" the cars going by while in the car. Poor dude slammed his face against the window to do it... we had to work on that. He doesn't do it anymore lol

u/MathAndBake 7d ago
I have pet rats. Some enjoy being tossed (underhand, with a soft landing), and some don't. It's a bit harder to toss a dog, lol. But humans are definitely not the only species that wants to fly.
29
u/SadBit8663 7d ago
IDK. I've had dogs or have been around dogs my entire 30 plus years, and absolutely zero things about that dog indicate any kind of stress. I can't reasonably say he enjoyed it, but it definitely didn't bother him
And it's not like this is what they started with, they had to see if they could even train him to do that first,
5
u/Mission_Shopping_847 7d ago
Yup. This dog is just straight chillin', good or bad, but he's not particularly upset or excited (which is also good given the situation).

I once did that with a friend and his dog. The dog absolutely loves it. They were living next to the Alps and did this all the time. Hicking up the mountains and gliding down...

Good thing we don't have to convince you lol. Dog very obviously loves it!

I'm pretty sure he was drugged so that he wouldn't freak out

Was honestly more concerned about the landing than the flying... very nice! Would prefer you leave the pooch on the ground, but to each their own. 🤷♀️

I know. Any time I see a video like this my only thought is, “Why?”

u/LittleOlePapaya 7d ago
I don’t care for this at all. If you want to go paragliding, fine. Leave the dog at home. I was genuinely concerned the whole time watching this.

u/Confident_Offer2879 7d ago
Have to agree with you, dog doesn't look stressed but why take that chance?

u/DistractedByCookies 7d ago
I'm going to hope they worked up to a full flight and didn't just chuck him up there. But...I mean, WHY? I'm pretty sure this isn't fun for a dog. It's probably just neutral at best. Just throw ball or something if you want to do something together.

Because the internet is a cesspool that pushes the boundaries of decency so people do horrible things to garner attention.

I’m so scared for the dog. This for real makes me feel nervous inside
25
u/lowkeytokay 7d ago
I tried paragliding and it’s not scary at all. You really don’t feel like you’re falling but rather as if you were sitting in the sky. And I’m afraid of heights / have strong vertigo, so you can believe me. This said, this is still stupid. Carrying more unnecessary wait and for something that the dog didn’t sign up for.

u/TheHorseduck 7d ago
I don’t know man. There really is no way of knowing if the dog really wants to do this. So why fkn do this at all?

But we didn't see how the dog passed out when finally set down properly
5
u/General_Scarcity1565 7d ago
Honestly the dog was probably drugged/sedated, very indicative with his tongue sticking out and him having little to no alertness.
1
u/Curedbqcon 7d ago
Or he’s older and missing some teeth…
This dog was slowly worked into all this and wasn’t just taken to the skies. You can find videos of the owner jumping on flat ground and slowly working up to all this.
3
u/General_Scarcity1565 7d ago
Are you sure you arent talking about the other dude that has done this? Cause Ive seen those videos and its a different dog/person. This dog looks relatively young so there isnt any reason for him to be missing teeth unless there was a medical condition.

How many times has a dog freaked out and escaped a harness (made just for them btw) during a walk or at a park or whatever. Imagine you just have to look down at your dog getting out of this contraption at 300ft above ground. Traumatizing.

Honestly, my dog loves to go everywhere and do new things and Is always jumping off things.
This fucker right now has me like 3 miles deep in a new part of the wilderness.
He would love this

This is one of those things that wouldn't happen as often as it does if we didn't have social media. Drop the dog off at a doggy daycare so he can play with some buds. Then you go paragliding, and everyone is ensured to have fun.

Absolutely everything about this is lame. This is for humans, that dog doesn't give a shit but should be spared - it looks confused by this circus act.

No.

I just don't think this is ok. I doubt this is trauma-free for the dog and I doubt any veterinarian would endorse this as acceptable treatment -- to include how the dog is held in that harness for an extended duration and without any eye protection. Dogs don't hang their tongues out for extended times like this unless there's something wrong.

This is really terrible. I believe there are some dogs that like this, but this one was NOT one of them. That dogs tongue was sticking out because he was frozen with fear. Look at his tail. Completely still. His eyes, barely open. He shows no sign of enjoying this. I am so pissed at this careless owner. It’s truly a horrifying video to watch.
1
u/International_Debt58 7d ago
I have seen a dog do something like this and enjoyed it a lot. This dog is not enjoying it.

u/International_Debt58 7d ago
I can literally feel the dogs fear watching this video. It pisses me off so much.

To be fair I’m quite sure they have dogs that jump out of helicopters into the ocean to rescue people. I guess it depends on if you can read the dogs mind on how it effects him.

This is not good for the dog, they don't understand what's happening like we do and it's just making it go through a lot of stress and anxiety.

u/broady712 5d ago
My King Shepard would love this. I don't know why everyone is having a f*cking heart attack over this. If you have always done this with him and he knows he is safe, he is just living his best life. This dog looks like he has done it 100 times.

That tongue is going to be very dried out and dirty by the end. Poor dog getting drugged and forced to do this shit. His eyes getting blasted with wind. Fuck dog owners that do this and fuck viewers that eat it up.

It's so cute that their legs stay crossed under the dog the whole time, haha. I'm not sure it would help if things went wrong, but it's gotta be a little comforting.

Does anyone wonder why the dog is not reacting to this seemingly bizarre experience?
1
1
u/The_Brittle_Boy 3d ago
Why? Why expose the dog to such unnecessary risk of injury and death? He isn't seeking this experience. He didn't ask for it, even if he's obedient and compliant.

Saw another clip of a dog being dropped off by helicopter onto a beach and attacking a dude in some sort of training exercise for the police / military, dogs really are furry people it's amazing what they're capable of.
