I remember last time I saw this posted someone said those are stingless wasps. I looked it up out of curiosity and pretty sure this is a golden digger wasp. They are solitary, pollinators, non aggressive and the males don't even have stingers at all.
Don't get me wrong I've fed my share of innocent bugs to spiders too but just know this particular wasp isn't one of the bad ones.

Yep these are around my house. You don't ever kill them or bother them and they don't ever bother you. There's no reason to fuck with a wasp like this
They actually do most of the pollinating in my area

I thought something similar…the person with the tweezers just put the near defenseless wasp there for it to be murdered. I know most will not have a problem with this but it is not mother natures will…this time anyway.

I saw one in my garden it was taking fresh mud around my crops and came back and forth , i looked up online and discovered it was to make a nest with it , i think its neat .

Why do people do stuff like this?

Why not

Well for those of us who can extend our empathy to the animal kingdom, its very blatantly cruel.

So you have empathy for wasps but draw the line at spiders?

u/Doogle300 5h ago
What makes you say that? Did I say anything at all about the spider?
I empathise massively with spiders. I actually house spiders all the time. Have a jumping spider currently that hops around my kitchen.
I used to escort them out by means of a fancy cup and only the best paper, mainly because my partner had intense fear. However she conquered that through exposure therapy and we now name the ones that appear in our house.
Why exactly did you think I didn't empathise with them?

How cruel. It's one thing for the wasp to fly close to the spider and be caught...but catching a wasp and feeding it to the spider is horrifically bad. Monstrous. All for a video.
Shame.

Is it really? Spiders eat bugs and watching them do their thing is fascinating. It's surely awful for the wasp, but it's delightful for the spider... This seems morally neutral to me.

Who uses tweezers to feed a live wasp to a spider?
Asking for a friend.

Anyone who doesn’t want to get stung by the wasp? Maybe I’m misunderstanding your question. 😅

u/Doogle300 8h ago
You know how I avoid getting stung? I don't fuck about with wasps at all. Crazy, I know.
Not only that, but these are non aggressive wasps, that only ever sting when threatened. They actually contribute to the ecosystem through pollination. Well, all wasps do, but these are more like bees in the fact that they avoid conflict.

I don’t disagree with you on that at all. Most wasps are bros. 🤷🏻♀️

u/Doogle300 6h ago
Yeah, they honestly are demonised beyond their true nature. Sure, if you anger one, or god forbid, a nest of them, it's really horrible. But there was a heavy discourse about saving the beas, since they are pollinators and essential to the entire structure of Earths eco systems, totally ignoring the fact wasps do the same job.
Even if one comes and lands on you, it will just look about for sugar or nectar, and then leave. Admittedly, if you are covered in sugar, it's a really imposing approach as they will persist until they get their meal, but if you just let them have their moment they will fly away eventually. It's not easy to do as the fear of a sting can be hard to fight, but you just have to remind yourself "It doesn't sting flowers, so why would it sting me?"
It's a shame because those who fear wasps the most, are the one more likely to be stung, since it is their panicking that aggrevates them.
Anyway, it seems I'm just telling you what you already know, so I'll shut up now. Have a good one.

I used to throw grasshoppers into orb weaver webs. Such a fun childhood past time.

Its like a hydrogen bomb vs coughing baby situation the wasp was never gonna win especially considering i think thats a stingless wasp so like bro has no defense.

Doing this is teaching spiders to be dependent on humans for food.
Now they will be unafraid of all of us.

Isn’t that a poisonous spider?
2
u/kittibear33 8h ago
They’re venomous yes, but not dangerous enough to humans. You want these ones in the summer, especially in your veggie gardens! 😍

Puts it in the fridge and then goes back to chilling on the porch.
