"Need help plagiarizing those term papers? OpenAI has got you. Remember kids, education is meaningless because our company mission is to replace you!"

Whether is a replacement or an augmentation is up to the individual

I think that’s up to economics and where scaling curves plateau. Regardless you’re going to be better off if you do your own homework.

That’s actually a solid deal, in my opinion. It’s something really useful. I get that the plan is to reel you in so you keep paying down the line, but still—I think it’s pretty good. I’ve got some learning challenges that make reading and writing tough, so I rely on AI a lot now to help me out. This kind of thing would’ve been a lifesaver back in college (25 years ago). I mostly use Grammarly, ChatGPT, and Wisper now. They really help with my communication, but they do have a cost associated with them.

Something free is not a “deal.” It’s free.

That’s not what a deal is. It’s a free service.

I went through the registration process but it might take several days to weeks because an unknown problem occurred during the sign up process

I'm not sure with ai studio and. Gemini having free access to 2.5 pro that this is when worth it

OpenAI's recent initiative to offer ChatGPT Plus for free to college students in the U.S. and Canada until the end of May 2025 coincides with a strategic move to enhance AI literacy among students, who are already significant users of the platform. This offer not only provides access to advanced AI tools during finals but also reflects a competitive response to similar offerings from companies like Anthropic, which recently launched Claude for Education, emphasizing critical thinking and problem-solving skills in academic settings.

Students shouldn't be using AI for their work! Unless the course is specifically made to need it, they should be learning properly. Cheating does not help you

Why do you think students use AI specifically for getting answers for work? Why not assume we use to summarize topics, have topics explained to us at a more in depth level? People like you are why we can't progress as you think too little

If it's not an approved tool, it shouldn't be used. The work is based around set tools and criteria. It's like if you went into a test using a calculator that specifically said "calculators are not permitted"

You're there to learn, we shouldn't be growing up to have things as a crutch permanently
