I like red pandas more but these bees are cute too!

I've never seen a red panda flying around my chrysanthemums...

I love them, I got quite a few in my backyard garden each year. They are the one kind of bee that doesn't scare me.

I love them. They are so cute and fluffy. They always let me pet them. Always exercise caution when petting, but so far, I haven't been stung doing so. Only try this with bumble bees.

They really are pretty chill. I love how when you pet one it will often reach backward with one front leg as a gentle warning to not push things too far.

In my homeland there's an endemic species, black with a white back. Now, in spring, they're very common in the countryside.

Honeybees seem to have all the PR, but bumblebees really are more impressive. They can fly in colder rainier weather and are far more efficient(largely because only the queens survive the winter). They buzz-pollinate, which makes them effective pollinators of several plants(such as blueberries) that honeybees can't really pollinate. Probably the coolest difference is that bumblebees can see static charges, which allows them to selectively visit flowers that have not been recently visited by other pollinators.

I love them and their hairy body.

u/gameplayer55055 21h ago

I am scared by stingers and anything venomous because my body is so shit that even a drop of water can kill me.

So I have mixed feelings, bumblebees look cool, but once it takes off I run as far as I can.

I love bees!! I had a miner bee make a nest in one of my flower pots last summer and I would just sit in the garden and watch her building her nest for hours 😅

Bees are so adorable

u/Weekly_Jicama_7878 16h ago

I appreciate that they pollinate flowers but otherwise I am absolutely terrified of them and would rather they didn't exist, same goes for any ball shaped flying bug.

Bees are adorable and I often get called weird (by my family) for thinking that. My cousin agrees, we both love the adorable little creatures :)

u/Uberbons42 15h ago

I’d love to keep bees. I found this yesterday and kept it because it’s so beautiful:

u/Ganondorf7 15h ago

I tried saving one from drowning in the pool with my hands as a kid, it stung me and I cried, still don't like bees

I love bumble bees. I've sat in the middle of flowers in the spring time in people's landscaping for work and have felt like a princess in the midst of baby bumble bees searching for their treats! I was so scared at first but then notice it was all just bumble bees and then was in awe

Yes, I love them! They are so cute! When I was in grade 4, I found a bumblebee on my neighbours driveway which had lost her stinger and wings, so I adopted her, named her Bumble, and brought her everywhere with me in a jar full of flowers, grass, and twigs. Including to school which landed me an argument with a teacher who said I couldn’t bring it in due to kids with allergies to bee stings, to which I told her that it was in a jar and literally did not have a stinger. Eventually, she let me in with it. Anyway, since Bumble didn’t have wings, she wouldn’t fly away, so I took her out often and she would just walk around on my hand 🥰🥰🥰 Unfortunately, Bumble did pass away and I buried her in my garden.

u/FelixArvore 6h ago

Yes, I like the bumblebee's clumsy flight. And its loud buzzing too, even though I don't tolerate most loud noises well.

u/Dutch_Mikey 1h ago

The fluffy bees, I love them 🥰🥰

They are so fluffy and cute and don't have murderous intentions like wasps do.
