THIS IS NOT DINING CUTLERY it's plating utensils.
The knife is either cake or quiche one. The fork is baked veg or potato fondant fork.

This sub lately:
[Holds up ladle]
Does this trigger you!?!
•
u/fractal_frog Autistic Parent of Autistic Children 17h ago
Depends. If it's the Spoonful of Comfort ladle I see in all the ads I get in my games, I don't want it. The one we'll be using to serve up spaghetti sauce later? I love that ladle!
(Honorable mention for the Nessie ladle sitting in the drawer, I almost want to pull it out for stuff in the vein of rubber duck debugging. But I can just pull a duck off the dash of my Jeep for that.)
•
u/heyitscory 17h ago
I just saw that Nessie while I was looking up how to spell ladle because every combination of letters looks wrong. I was irrationally excited.

Depends, it might trigger someone's hyperfocus on extraordinary and extravagant oddly specific cutlery.
I recently saw a yt short about a weird cutlery tool specific for cutting tomatoes.

This is someone who knows their cutlery. I think. I don't know what these are used for. I just know I would despise using them for anything. 😅
•
u/contemplatio_07 17h ago
So, when you think "fondant potatoes" - they ale small, perfectly rounded and caramelized on the outside. So if you'd try to stab em with normal fork - they go into puree in seconds. If you'd try to use soup spoon - they'd run away from you.
Lo' and behold - this invention! it has enough spiky edge to give some friction but not so much to break caramelized outside, but also is shallow and rounded enough to hold a ball made of carbs and calories when you move it to your plate.
My granny was kinda crazy about cutlery and "the proper way" to use it. I had this knowledge bashed into my head before I know how to tie a shoelace.
•
u/unicornica ASD 16h ago
Honestly I am super interested to hear more about niche or interesting utensils in your writing style, that was fun to read. So, if you ever feel the urge to reminisce on things your granny taught you… 🙈

I'm a little unsettled by the amount of people who genuinely think these are supposed to be used to put things in your mouth. I know next to nothing about utensils, I despise the "rules" of fine dining, and even I know you'd look like a complete lunatic if you tried to eat with a serving utensil.
Is it like... nobody cares to notice what the "servants" use to put things on their place (i.e. mom), or is this a "kids these days" scenario?
God, do I hate this stupid silverware fad...
•
u/luz-c-o 16h ago
what did i miss with this silverware?? why are people posting it?
•
u/doktornein Autistic 16h ago
It's some kind of stupid, endlessly repeated joke conflating autism with having strict preferences in spoons.
I think someone with AI energy misunderstood the whole spoon/energy metaphor, or it's the equivalent of the "hello, fellow kids" meme for autism.
I hoped it was dead, but my hopes are again dashed.

Artisticly they are beautiful. I would absolutely never want to use them to eat with though.
•
u/Obversity 17h ago
I actually think they’re cool enough that it would offset the actual utility issues for me personally? For a while at least

You don't, this is for serving.

I don't know about the fork but the knife looks a bit like my old cake knife. Nevertheless these are not for putting in your mouth.

I'm not an expert in silverware, but I'm pretty sure those aren't meant to be near our plates. Seem more like to be the "server's tools".

Anyway, the knife reminds me of a mini glaive, I think I'd find it quite fun to use. Probably not the fork though, the tines look far too wide. But still, this is just by looking at them in a picture, I'd need to actually hold them myself to know how they felt in my hands (and to use) before I could say anything for certain.

Looks absolutely badass but I could probably never use it. The knife kinda reminds me of something you’d find in monster hunter 😂.
•
u/CF-Gamer4life 18h ago
Would be fun to see as a switch axe weapon lol. The fork being the axe and the life being the sword that is....
•
u/Number1Bg3Fan Autistic Adult 18h ago
Yessss! That’s so true. I was originally seeing the knife as like a greatsword or one part of a dual blade but it works so much better as a switch axe with the fork!
•
u/CF-Gamer4life 18h ago
And now I'm sad it isn't a real MH switch axe weapon because it would be fun if they made more silly weapons or at least layered gear for weapons 🥲
•
u/Number1Bg3Fan Autistic Adult 18h ago
Yeah I agree! It’s definitely sad coz I think it would look so cool.
•
u/CF-Gamer4life 18h ago
You weren't wrong about the dual blades idea. Make the fork one blade and the knife the other. Also a solid choice
•
u/Number1Bg3Fan Autistic Adult 18h ago
Awesome, I love that! I am a dual blade main so very much appeals.

Fork - I like handles on my fork but that is too much fork for my mouth, could be used to pick up clementine slices if you are feeling fancy.
Knife - Looks good enough to cut through the baguettes I eat, other than that, mainly only for decoration.
