What would be the point of a bot that loses almost all its games?

Person who wrote it is testing it out maybe?

They just keep playing against a bot that's too strong for them, causing the really high loss rate. Their moves against human players seem like that of a beginner human to me.

Um, what makes you think that? I'm not familiar w/ the interface you're looking at, but new players are typically going to lose more games than they win. 97% isn't weird at all.

edit: this wasn't a rhetorical question. i'm genuinely asking why you think that. if you look at their profile, the behavior doesn't really make sense for a bot account at all, from my experience with bot accounts

Rank doesn't move...

I don't know if I understand what you mean. Being a bot on OGS doesn't prevent OGS from calculating your rank based on wins/losses. They are 25k, the lowest possible rank on OGS, and they lose most of their games, so OGS seems to be functioning correctly.

Also, if you look at their actual profile page on the OGS website: https://online-go.com/player/1738327/ you'll see a rank graph indicating that their rating is, indeed, changing.
