Original BG2 My BG2 fancast
Got inspired by last fancast post and made this!
Some of them are not so famous to save budget for production quality, realistically LOL

Richard Armitage would make a fantastic Irenicus.
Johnny Depp for Cernd.

I tried to think of someone for Cernd, but realised i haven't seen any native american actor besides that werewolf guy from Twilight

Johnny Depp could also make a good Haer'Dalis, I suppose.

Never thought of Cernd as Native American. He's more like a hippie. He lived in Athkatla before abandoning his family to become a druid.

That's fair, he really does feel like some guy who just ran away from home. His portrait gives off indigenous vibes in my opinion though.

I think the Shannon casting is inspired here. He’s typecast as the villain and this would be a cool role to see him do

I kinda want to see Anthony Starr as the player character, let the poor guy be a good guy for a change.

I feel like he's kinda old to play Imoens sibling rn, but you can check Banshee show where he plays mc lead, great show!

I like Michael Shannon for the look and he's one of my favorite capable actors, but he needs to play a villain. His deadpan delivery and psychotic dead stare is not suited for a protagonist

Keldorn is not the protagonist though, and not quite 100% positive person.. I think his acting would suit Keldorn's passion and aggression towards the unrighteous

Ah you're correct, my definition of protagonist is off. I meant generally on the side of the heroes.
What about him as the disguised Firkraag?
I could buy him imperiously approaching me in a bar as a nobleman and tasking me with something, then telling me I'm a worm beneath his lordly notice

Here me out now...Christopher Walken for Firkraag. Your "telling me I'm a worm beneath his lordly notice" reminded me of him comparing himself and Charlie to a lion and a mouse in Kangaroo Jack lol.

But i agree that he would be a great villain also.. Maybe someone from the sidequests?

I feel in my bones that Aerie should be played by Anya Taylor-Joy
Other alternatives that I would suggest is Michael B Jordan for Valygar and maybe someone like Ben Kingsley for Jan

u/bonjourellen I really, really like the moon. The moon is just amazing. 1d ago
Armitage for Irenicus is inspired, as is Emily Carey for Nalia.

YIKES I feel old—I don’t know any of these actors (EEEK!) [taking an invisibility potion so I can skulk away in shame… 🫨] I did like the idea of Bautista as Minsc.

Guys you get that we can't cast a white chick as Viconia right? Watch the D&D episode of Community if you don't see what I mean.

u/luis-mercado 2d ago
Nah, you need a way better, older and commanding actor for Irenicus. Either Charles Dance or Jeremy Irons.
Ema Dumont is way hot and cute for Viconia.
Michael Shanon as Keldorn is actually PERFECT. Wish that occurred to me.
For Bhodi you’ll need an actress who specialize in dark, weird and physically demanding roles, so I’ll take Tilda Swinton. Bonus points that she already did my favorite cinema female vampire ever.

It’s probably never going to happen, but the Baldur’s Gate series has huge potential as a TV show—if it’s done right.

*Continues to not understand people who cast based on looks instead of talent*
7
u/Due_Palpitation001 2d ago
I think each person on the list is quite talented in their own way, not everyone should be award after award winning generational talent to properly play a character
It's 50/50 type based and skill based cast i would like to say

I think I know three of these people
Michael Shannon could be great somewhere but not sure it would be Keldorn (Keldorn is George Clooney anyway)
I don't know him but Richard Armitage looks decent for Irenicus. I don't know what he acts or sounds like though just going by that one pic. the other post mentioned Jeremy Irons who I also thought could work though he may be too old now. (he may also want absolutely nothing to do with fantasy after the D&D movie.)

I disagree with so many in the start, but I can somewhat see some of them.
Nalia was based on Drew Barrymore, and they're both pretty annoying so that works! I always felt Anomen was based on Jason Priestly as well, and I think he'd do a great job at it too. Though he's quite a bit older now.
