I don't think Newsom can do anything about the tariffs.

He could *offset* the tariffs somewhat by lowering income taxes on the most vulnerable residents, and encouraging cities to lower their sales taxes and fees. Because these tariffs will primarily hurt those who can't simply reduce consumption because they consume essentials like food and clothing.

I don't think he'll do this unfortunately. But he should.
