question Bioinformatics or Genetic Counseling ?
Hi!
I have a bachelors degree in biology, but I am currently looking into potential masters programs. I’m interested in both bioinformatics/statistics as well as genetic counseling, and I’m hoping for some insight to help make a decision. I would ideally also like to work from home in the future. Any opinions are greatly appreciated, thank you!

Do you like talking with people? GCs work directly with patients and often have to explain/counsel in complex and difficult situations. Bioinformaticians work mostly with computers and get to solve fun problems. Both good jobs with potential for remote work. I feel like if AI were going to reduce demand one of those jobs, it’d be the bioinformatician.

Hello! What do you want to achieve: only remote work? Have you tried research in any of these fields: what do you like and dislike in either work? I don't know about counseling and whether it is in high demand. It seems like counseling is a much narrower field. Bioinformatics, however, is needed everywhere. Since it involves data analysis, theoretically, it could be done remotely. However, employers often require all personnel to be present in labs.
