Mourning Had to unexpectedly say goodbye to my sweet panther this morning. Poe - you will be so missed 🖤
I’m still processing how quickly this all happened. Just last night he his sweet normal self seeking cuddles and playing with his favorite toy and this morning he was so sick that he couldn’t even move. It feels surreal. My heart and home feel so empty.
Poe, I’ll miss getting awoken at 2:00 AM by you demanding cuddles. I’ll miss you snuggling up next to me when I’m sad or not feeling well. I’ll miss you reluctantly letting you little brother groom you even when it’s obvious you rather be left alone. Ill miss seeing you watch birds from out window as if you’re stalking prey. I’ll miss tripping over you in the morning while I make coffee because you’re demanding affection. I’m so sorry you had to leave this world too soon but you brought so much love and joy into my life. You will always be my sleek, spooky, beautiful, panther 🖤

I’m so sorry. Poe is a handsome void! I know he will leave a hole in your life and your heart. Gentle hugs. I do believe he is still with you- just somewhere you cannot see him.

I’ve had cats all my life, since I was a kid, and I’ve had to say goodbye to my fury babies too, it never is easy, never. It breaks my heart that it was so sudden for you. What helped me during this difficult times is to make a little altar with things that make me remember them, a picture, favorite toy, hair, etc and I light a candle every night and whenever I need to mourn. Take your time, all the time you need, and be in peace that you gave him a great loving life.

its likely your cat has been sick for awhile, it just got to the point he could no longer hide it that well. cats arn't quite an apex predator: they get preyed on by things like coyotes and don't want to give the impression they would be easy prey. I had a similar situation with my last cat, seemed like he just suddenly got sick and died in less then 7 hours after showing symptoms, however a necropsy showed he had rat poison in his system. he caught a mouse two days earlier. (this is also why I urge people not to use poisons, your not just poisoning mice your poisoning everything that preys on them.)

I have a beautiful void named Poe, who also roams under me while I’m making coffee in the morning for attention and wears a red vest (sullenly) when I take him outside. This post breaks my heart. I’m so sorry you and your Poe didn’t have more time to live together or say goodbye. It’s so unfair. The time you spent together was a blessing. You made each other better. I’m glad you told us about him. I hope this community makes your grief, eventually, easier to bear.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I love hearing about all the other beautiful voids also names Poe. I didn’t expect to find such comfort from this post but it is really helping the grieving process.

Just put my little boy down on the 11th at 12:25. I hope the pain will get better for the both of us, I haven't been able to look at his pictures yet. Went into the vet because he had thrown up a few times and was breathing through his mouth. He had been coughing for a week and I was going ti get him looked at, I had thought it was his hairballs because he had ling hair he struggled sometimes. Got to the vet thinking I'd need some meds for him. The vet said he had lung cancer and maybe had a week to live if they gave him steroids. I didn't get to give him a final brushing or treats or cuddle in his favorite spot. Just like that within 2 hours I had lost my best friend, and all my savings.

I'm so sorry dear. you didn't know what you didn't know and you did the best with the information you had. I'm sorry your dear friend is gone, but he's not suffering anymore.

I’m sorry for your loss. It was a similar situation for me. Not knowing that the days, weeks, and months leading up to his death were going to be my last moments with him is the toughest. Just wish I knew to treasure it. I hope the grief gets better for the both of us.

Thank you, to you as well. It sucks not being able to prepare or give them the send off they deserved. And appreciating the little stupid things. Just had to clean my apartment last night completely, every little tumbleweed of floof or piece of cardboard I lost it. I just keep thinking back to how scared he looked after the anesthesia. Those last 30 minutes have been on repeat in my head. The staff while nice was so insistent, I guess my best friend dying cutting into their lunch was inconvenient.

As someone who has lost three cats in the past two years: you'll never stop missing them, but it does get easier. Please reach out if you want to discuss coping mechanisms and strategies for pet death. Society as a whole does not really "do" pet death, we need to support each other in the community. 🖤

So so so sorry. I have been there, when it comes just so unexpectedly. It is so incredibly difficult. Having to say goodbye in any way is tough, but when you never expect it, it just hits so differently. It still haunts me. I am so sorry for you and your baby.

You did not fail him in ANY way. I also had those thoughts. You have to realize you did what was best for him. He needed you to help him and you made the hardest decision you could, but you did it out of love for him. Please be kind to yourself during this time…he is always with you, and he is thankful you gave him the best life he could have had

we lost our haddie mae in march, and i still look for her/expect to trip over her, everyday.
slowly but surely, it does get better.

Oh no I'm so sorry. With most of my fur babies I saw it coming and still bawled my eyes out. I miss them all so much. The horror of it just happening out of nowhere is unimaginable. So sorry #hugs

I just put my sweet void down on the 23rd of October. It was one of the hardest things I have gone through. It will get better soon. Just keep thinking of all the beautiful memories of him.
