Mourning Had to let my void go today...
Tonight is the darkest day of the year, the solstice bringing with it the longest stretch of night. It feels fitting, in a way... with his fur as black as the deep, endless dark outside. His sleek coat seemed to carry the night with him in life, and now, as the year’s shadows stretch their furthest, it feels like the world itself is mourning his loss. Darkness will always give way to light, but tonight, it feels like he’s a part of the quiet, still expanse, resting within it.
22 years, but never enough. I will miss you forever my sweet little boy.
RIP Dimitrius Griffen the third. There was no first or second. Given to me in a blender box. Small abandoned runt child. I just wanted you to feel as big as your name. Even if it devolved into Gippen, Gippy, Grippen, Gipten, Lipton, and Bubby. It was always said with love.
Join the rest of the night sky and know I will never replace you. I will always have a small kitty shaped hole in my heart that you once filled.
Take care of your puppy sister Mira. Let her know we miss her too.

Had to say goodbye to Euston on 11-1-24. He was 19 and we were a family for 12 years. I'll tell him to watch for Demetrius.

I’m so sorry for your loss. It sounds like he loved a happy life with you. You gave him a home, a place to feel safe and warm and loved. Of all the callings, loving another is the highest.

They take up such a short period of our lives yet we are their entire life. We love them with all a hearts and when they leave us we fall apart and yet we continue to love these little creatures unapologetically and wholeheartedly. We only feel such pain of loss because we have loved them so much. So glad you were able to give him 22 wonderful years full of love and comfort. Grieve and feel pain for a while it's only natural and healthy but eventually feel that love once more because it's what they always wanted. 💜

felt this to my core . lost my buddy of 21 years , a year ago. I now have a little baby void and can only hope to have as long and happy life as possible. condolences.

I feel for your loss. Our Spicey left us Friday night after more than 18 years. I feel there should be an option to give our loved four foots a few years of our lives to extend theirs. Not possible. But at least they were loved.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost my void of 16 years on Wednesday. It was devastating…
It also seems like you loved Dimitrius and took great care of him! 22 years is a lot — I bet he had an amazing life with you. ❤️
