There is only cineplex where I live so cineclub

1

u/chanma50 Best of 2019 Winner 8d ago

I have Cineplex's Cineclub, which isn't like AMC A-List where it gives you unlimited movies, but you get discounted tickets at $10.

I also take advantage of promos where you buy a gift card and get vouchers for free tickets, buy one get one tickets etc.

1

u/capercrohnie A24 8d ago

Me too! And I get gift cards as birthday and Christmas presents. Also his doesn't apply to the general public but I am on a biologic medication that I get from a specialty pharmacy and instead of getting points like you do from normal pharmacies I get $45 credit at giftcertificates.ca and I choose cineplex giftcards

Here’s my predictions for Cinemacon next weekend:

  • Logo revealed for the new Hunger Games for 2026.

WB:

  • Dune: Messiah confirmed for December 18, 2026 with some new cast members announced.
  • Second trailer for Superman
  • The Goonies 2 gets a 2027 release date.
  • First look at Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow
  • Footage from Final Destination and Conjuring 4.

Sony:

  • Some small details about Spider-Man 4, Jumanji 3, and the Zelda movie.
  • An official release date for Beyond the Spider-Verse.
  • A release date for Angry Birds 3.
  • Update on Uncharted 2.

Universal:

  • First details about Shrek 5
  • Update regarding the status of Fast XI
  • Cast reveal for The Super Mario Bros Movie 2.
  • Announcements for Kung Fu Panda 5, Madagascar 4, and the Donkey spin-off.
  • An announcement for the Donkey Kong spinoff and Luigi’s Mansion film.

Disney:

  • First trailer for Avatar: Fire and Ash
  • Lilo & Stitch, Freakier Friday, Zootopia 2, Hoppers, and Mandalorian footage.
  • Update on Ice Age 6 regarding its story, cast, and the new release date.
  • More cast members revealed for Avengers: Doomsday.
  • Announcements on what the 2027 and 2028 Pixar films will be.

Paramount:

  • Release dates for A Quiet Place 3, Top Gun 3, and Smile 3.
  • Small footage from Scream 7.
  • Footage from The Running Man, Naked Gun and SpongeBob.
  • Transformers vs GI Joe release date.
  • Theatrical Shadow spinoff announced.

u/hyoumah83 8d ago

WB:

Second trailer for Superman

First look at Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow

Appears counterproductive to me to promote the Supergirl movie when there's push for Superman

Disney:

First trailer for Avatar: Fire and Ash

Appears to be too early for the teaser, which will likely we released to the general public in may. Or maybe they'll show it to generate buzz.

Paramount:

Release dates for A Quiet Place 3, Top Gun 3, and Smile 3.

Small footage from Scream 7.

Footage from The Running Man, Naked Gun and SpongeBob.

Transformers vs GI Joe release date.

Theatrical Shadow spinoff announced.

Nothing on Mission Impossible ?

1

u/nolanptafan 9d ago

I think Disney will also date 20th Century Studios slate of mid budget films and maybe a Searchlight release or two.

Also WB could reveal the dates for stuff like Panic Carefully, the Jonah Hill Movie, and the new J.J. Abrams movie.

I don’t know if their going to announce Madagascar 4 since we hasn’t heard of it 8 years has passed as well as Penguins of Madagascar flopping hard in 2014. Plus, their could be problems over the Chris Rock and Janet Pickett Smith over the slap 3 years ago while could also be another Shrek 5 situation where the animation style has changed as well as Kung Fu Panda 4 situation where fans find it disappointing

Shrek 5… ah geez… what is wrong with DreamWorks and the crew behind Trolls and The Boss Baby… I’m worried that it would not be as good as its previous Shrek movies over its animation style where looked like AI

And Kung Fu Panda 5… on my, I don’t know if it’ll be good since Kung Fu Panda 4 was such as huge letdown to the franchise along with director who took over since he made Shrek 4 and the first Trolls movie from DreamWorks which is really concerning that it would not be as good compared to the fourth film which means that we would give up with this franchise

Either the marketing team behind The Amateur are fucking lazy or this movie has almost nothing actually good to offer.

I swear to God that all spots seem to reuse the same scenes, over and over again, I think I saw the pool scene a dozen times in 12 different trailers and spots.

The Snow White discourse has been exhausting. It's only the lowest rated film on IMDB because of the controversy, everything coming out with both stars. Just let the film die

2

u/Mr628 9d ago

Agree, but people need a scapegoat.

4

u/Purple_Quail_4193 Pixar 9d ago

Thunderbolts is rumored to have a runtime of 126 minutes:

https://old.reddit.com/r/boxoffice/comments/1jlyesr/marvel_studios_thunderbolts_has_a_listed_runtime/

...which concerns me a bit due to Marvel's infamous runtime curse, but at the same time, I don't think this one had a whole lot of production troubles. Based on those aspects, what do you think RottenTomatoes rating might be for this one? I'm going to guess 78% with 7.2/10 average with Cinemascore of A-.

1

u/CinemaFan344 Universal 9d ago

81% with 7.0/10 average and a CinemaScore of B+

1

u/Block-Busted 9d ago

I kind of wonder why they didn't bring in David Leitch, but at the same time, he seems to be a pretty busy man.

2

u/littlelordfROY WB 9d ago

If anyone is seeing Seth rogens new show on Apple, it is probably has the most mentions of box office in any film or show (at least by episode 1)

I'd have to assume it is somewhat truthful in how execs talk box office (emphasizing somewhat)

I am a Cinemark rewards member. And this year they added badges to your account that you can earn by doing things. One of them is "See a movie with 10+ people" and what that actually means is buy 10 or more tickets to a screening. So, since the Cinemacon highlight reel tickets are only $3, I'm going to buy 10 tickets to the showing on the 22nd of April, because that's the cheapest way I know about fulfilling that requirement.

3

u/Purple_Quail_4193 Pixar 8d ago

That’s actually crazy!

2

u/AnxiousNPantsless 8d ago

Bruh you're spending more of your own money for a fake badge that only you see in your movie ticket app?!

Cmon 😂

2

u/DeweyFinn21 8d ago

I thought it would be obvious, but I do plan on bringing a group of 10 people. So it's not like I'm spending $30 just for myself. Plus, they all said they'd pay me back for their ticket since it's so cheap, so I'm really only spending the $3 for my own ticket.

I hope Death of a Unicorn opens well despite the low previews.

Jenna's next movie is probably screwed by its release date (same day as Final Destination, the week before MI:8, Lilo & Stitch). I know these are different audiences but I have to assume it'll at least be impacted by that.

Box office aside, I also hope we get Klara and the Sun/Beyond the Spider-Verse news at CinemaCon.
