Has anyone else ever had this issue? It’s a Sony 11mm f1.8 and I have looked at cleaning the lens but nothing seems to help! Is it possible it’s internal? How would I go about fixing that?

Thanks

Advice Needed Overexposed lens

I have a 17-70 sigma 2.8 lens that produces extremely overexposed photos. I'm able to fix some in editing but a lot are a bit unsaveable. I'm not a pro, just a hobby photographer for the last few months. Any tips on an easy fix?

Advice Needed Bent Sigma 16mm - ideas to fix?

I recently got this broken lens for free. The pack this was in fell off a dirt bike and the lens is now slightly bent. The lens doesn't focus (manual or auto) and i cannot get the aperture to change in the camera settings. When I take a photo the camera displays f0.0.

Any advice on how to fix this? I've seen some similar issues in my searching, but they don't say what specifically was broken.

I'm fine ordering/3d printing some parts. My plan is to fix and give to my wife who likes to take portraits. She has a Sony aps-c and uses her 50mm f1.8 a lot but wants to get closer.

Advice Needed Good and cheap(ish) primes for landscape / street photography

Hello all,

I have two Sony cameras (a APS-C and a FF), and I'm looking for a nice prime lens for landscape / street photography. My ideal focal length would be 35mm FF and something like 24 for the APS-C (which would be near a 35mm equivalent).

On my APS-C I've been using a Sigma 30mm 2.8 which is not bad, but I'd like something better and a bit more wide, since 30mm is equivalent to roughly 45mm on APS-C.

I know FF lenses are more expensive, but maybe there's something out there... I'm not ruling out manual lenses too, but I prefer autofocus.

What would be your picks for a good but not overly expensive lens?

Thanks for reading.

Advice Needed How to store 18-55mm compact lens

Hello there,

I had a Nikon 18-55mm compact lens that had flex cable issues and was not focusing correctly. So I traded it with another one of the same type.

Talking to some repair shop guys I got mixed opinions on how I should store my lens so that I don't any flex cable issues in the future.

Should I store it locked (L) or keep it at 18 mm as shown in the below image.

I use my camera to record talking head videos so the camera always sits on the tripod. Do suggest any other tips that you thing might be useful.

Thanks

Advice Needed Sigma 56mm 1.4 vs Sigma 56mm 1.2

I have a Sony a6000 and I really love the camera but I've been considering getting full frame glass just to make it as optically good as I can. I currently have the sigma 56mm but I've been considering getting the Sigma 50mm 1.2 since it would be better glass and more light being let into the lens and I was wondering if I could get any input on whether or not it would be worth it thanks to anyone who answers.

Discussion Removing a stuck lens filter.

I found this hack on YouTube and figured I'd share here in case anyone else ran into the same issue.

I recently purchased a polarized filter for my sigma lens, threw it on just to test it out. To my absolute horror, it got stuck and left me scrambling to find ANY tips to get it off (I almost stuck it in the freezer. Apparently that's a thing...??).

Ended up coming across a video on YouTube (I'll link it in the comments) that gave a step by step breakdown on removing it easily using electrical tape, and a hose clamp to help increase grip and leverage. The whole fix cost me about $5 CAD.

The main thing to remember is to make sure that the tape and the clamp is only surrounding the filter. And you should be careful to not over tighten it. Just tighten a small nudge past where the screw stops and you should be good.

I dropped my camera onto the concrete but luckily i had a filter on it. But now the filter is very unwilling to budge. I messed around trying to twist it off with a pair of pilers until i gave up. Any suggestions on how to get it off? 1. right after it dropped 2. some work with the pilers

Advice Needed Looking for Lens Reccomendations

Hi everyone! I’m looking for lens advice. I'm a college student graduating this year on a budget majoring in film production. Along with film and a part time job, I freelance photography and have been trying to add more to my website and portfolio. I have had my camera since 2015 (EOS T5I) and finally had to retire her. I recently upgraded to a Sony A7 iii and still need a lens. I’m looking for advice on a solid, multipurpose, and decently budgeted lens I can use for both film and photography that will last me a long time. I’ve so far been possibly looking at the Tamron - 28-200mm F/2.8-5.6 Di III RXD but am open and grateful to any other input/reccomendations/advice! Thank you in advance!

Advice Needed Pancake Lens for Fuji XT5

Hi guys, I want to buy a pancake lens for the Fuji XT5.

I've done my research and I'm thinking to choose any of the following models (perhaps you can recommend some others too?).

Fujifilm 27mm f2.8

TTArtisan 27mm f2.8

Viltrox AF 28mm F4.5

Voigtlander Ultron 27mm f2

I generally have a 16-50 lens for the XT5, but I'm thinking of buying a slightly smaller one to take the camera e.g. on walks with the dog etc.

I've only had the camera for a month and I'm slowly learning it, so I think I don't have any very professional requirements for a lens

thanks for all the tips

Is it worth buying a lens off MPB with a small amount of mold? I heard you can just leave it in the sun for a few days and it’ll kill it.

Advice Needed is it worth getting a broken tamron 28-75 f2.8

i recently found a tamron 28-75 f2.8 and it's not recognizable by the camera, my personal thought is that it could be the flat cable inside since it's the most common issue they have, also the lens cost 200€ (180$) but i will negotiate the price down to 150€ (120$) the flat cable fix is 30€ (20$) so if that or firmware update js the problem i might get it, but are there any worse problems that i can come across

Advice Needed How to get a varifocal lens to focus properly? Help? -Neuroscientist who knows almost nothing about lenses

Hi! I am seeking some assistance from experts on how to operate a new varifocal lens that my lab acquired for recording some high resolution videos in an experiment. I originally calculated that we would need a 12-16mm focal lens for the approximate distance and FOV desired for the images we are trying to get. PI of my lab decided on a variable focal length (9-40mm) lens. Lens and camera arrived this week and I feel like I am missing something that should be obvious for getting it to focus properly. The manual is vague and I can't seem to find any videos of people doing it. The only way I can get a crisp image out of it is if I put the camera within a foot of the set up (way too close), maximize telephoto (moving the zoom ring in the "t" direction?), and move the other (focus?) ring that has an N and infinity sign all way to infinity. In my understanding, a lens with this focal length should be able to focus at much further distances (I'm hoping for about a meter?). Am I misunderstanding something? Or is there something silly that I am doing wrong?

I’m fairly new to vintage lenses and cameras, and I'm hoping someone can help me diagnose any potential issues with my lens. I recently acquired a Nikon lens that was advertised as having only a slight haze. I'm curious if anyone can share their experiences and help me identify if there are any other issues with the lens. Additionally, I would appreciate any tips on how to prolong its longevity. Also, I hear that lenses with haze or fungus shouldn’t be stored with your healthier lenses. Thank you!
