Is it possible(I’m new to the cast iron scene)
Cast iron was left on the grill (for weeks and not by me before I catch some slack lol) and was rusted to shit. Cleaned it up as good as I could and am left with this. Is it possible to revive this or is it a better idea to just go get a new one.
If it is possible should I just season the shit out of it or try and get the whole thing to that grayish color and then season.
Kinda pissed cause I had it damn perfect but I guess this is how ya learn to not donate your skillets 🤷♂️

Clean it up the best you can will steel wool, make sure you get the rust off and then season away.

This is a generic reminder message under every image post
Thank you for your picture post to /r/castiron. We want to remind everyone of Rule #3. All image posts should be accompanied by something to foster discussion. A comment, a question, etc is required.
If you've posted a picture of food, please explain why in a comment so people can have some sort of conversation. Simply dropping a picture of food in the sub isn't really fostering any discussion which is what we're all aiming for.
Posts that are a picture with no discussion can and will be removed by the mods.
Thank you!

I prefer chainmail and soap on a hot pan after cooking. Then throw a thin layer of oil on it and heat it in over the stove for a bit. Then wipe it out once more with a clean dry cloth.

Keep cooking! After using clean it up with soap and chain and dry before putting it in the stovetop. Let er heat for five minutes then use crisco white and wipe clean. I’ll just let mine cool down on the stovetop after that and use again tomorrow!

You mentioned that you had it perfect - that was before you started using it. Flawless pans are not functional pans and pans that people cook in don't look perfect. Clean it as much as you can, season up, and get cooking!
