Life Stories Girl asked me why I was getting my legs waxed as a guy. Was so weirddddd.

2.8k Upvotes

I get my legs waxed all the time professionally, it’s mainly for beauty purposes because I hate how much my leg hair gets in the way of wearing my skinny jeans and whatever.

I get it done by the usual woman and I come out to pay for it and this girl sitting on the couch waiting flagged me down and was like “Hey, omg, did you get your legs waxed?” and I just said I do it all the time, it’s my routine and she starts laughing and replies with the weirdest question ever, asking why I get my legs waxed because I’m a guy and I didn’t get it and laughed thought she was trolling but she was defs being serious and then she just dismisses it and picks up on my sexuality and is like: “Oh you’re gay, never mind.” and I’m so weirded out and just laughed harder and replied “K” left the beauty salon.

She defs doesn’t go outside much lmao.

Just Chatting What’s the strangest snobbery you’ve encountered?

A few years back I told my neighbour that my boyfriend was going to install a new washing line for me, and how embarrassingly excited I was about it.

Once my washing line was fitted my neighbour remarked how she was surprised he’d put in a rotary line, rather than a “proper” long clothes line style washing line. She then shook her head and looked at me pitifully.

I never knew there’d be judgement over my washing line choice!

Just Chatting Am I the only one that hates when people talk to me about my work related stuff when I’m not at work?

Sometimes, my family members just ask me about things at work, how smooth things are going etc. now this isn’t the bad thing of itself, it’s the fact that it lasts for minutes. I understand it’s showing of care, but I do not want to talk about my work for more than thirty seconds.

Sports After getting bamboozled by so many reddit comments, I finally watched the Undertaker throw Mankind off of Hell in a Cell in 1998.

We have all seen the reddit comments where someone is telling a crazy story and at the end they're like let that not distract from the fact that in 1998 The Undertaker thought Mankind 16 feet through the announcer table in Hell in a Cell(or however the bamboozle goes.) Well after seeing so many joke comments about this event I finally for what ever reason decided to watch it first thing this morning. This is probably the craziest thing I've ever seen on TV that isn't like a disaster happening live. I cannot imagine watching this live if I was a WWE fan. It's unbelievable.

What are the people who didn’t go out partying doing tonight?

I used to go out a lot on Saturdays, getting dressed, drinking, dancing, all of it. Now I kinda feel like I’m over that stage. I’d rather chill at home in comfy clothes, eat something good, maybe watch a movie or scroll until I fall asleep.

So if you’re staying in tonight too… is it because you feel the same? Do you think your party phase is done? What do your Saturday nights look like now?

In the 1950s, people thought we’d have robot butlers and flying cars by 2000. It’s 2025, and we’re still stuck in traffic. So… what do you think 2050 will actually look like?

Back then, visions of the future were all about sleek technology and utopian lifestyles. Today, we have incredible advancements, yet many everyday problems remain the same. Do you think we'll make dramatic progress by 2050?

Would love to hear your predictions

Edit: Flying cars are just an example, don’t get too fixated on that one.

My name is Myestia (Myesha). It’s a whole thing.

So my name is Myesha—but it’s spelled Myestia. I’ve never met anyone else with the same name, ever. And of course, people always get it wrong. It’s constantly mispronounced, misspelled, all of that. I still remember the ONE time a teacher actually got it right and I was genuinely shocked. One teacher called me Moosha (????)

At this point, I just memorize who I come after on the attendance list so I can say “I’m here” before they butcher it. Saves me the trouble of correcting them for the hundredth time.

There was this one day in class where my teacher and another student were talking about how people always mess up their names—but honestly, their names weren’t even that unique. One of them was named Nathania, which is nice, but not that rare. Meanwhile, my name doesn’t even look like how it sounds.

That said, I do like my name. I love when people compliment it. It feels like it’s really mine, like I’m the only Myestia around (which... yeah) My friends do call me by a nickname that I’ve let them use, which is cool—but when someone actually pronounces Myestia right without me having to correct them… it kinda feels special? A little intimate, in a weird but nice way.

And don’t even get me started on my third name. That’s a whole other journey. But yeah, just wanted to share.

Anyone else out there with a unique name? Would love to hear your name stories too.

What’s something super small from your childhood that you randomly think about sometimes?

I was born in ‘95, so a lot of my memories are from the early 2000s. The other day, I randomly thought about blowing into a game cartridge like it was some ancient ritual. Didn’t matter if it was a Game Boy, N64, or SNES—we all swore it worked. And then you’d slam it back in like you just fixed it with black magic.

It’s such a tiny, ridiculous memory, but it hits me with a wave of nostalgia every time.

What’s one of those oddly specific childhood memories you randomly think about?

Questions Am I the only one holding my breath when a movie character is underwater?

Upvotes

Every time I’m watching a movie where the character goes underwater, I hold my breath to see if I could handle the situation 😂 Am I the only one??

Just Chatting Do women find men attractive?

Do women find men attractive, the same way men do with women?

I find most women to be attractive, yet I do not find any men attractive. I socially know when someone is attractive, but it just feels as though staring into a brick wall.

I wonder, is this the same for women? Do women find men attractive & alluring? Do women find other women not appealing?

PS : Sorry very sleepy though I had in the shower.

Just Chatting I was supposed to visit my friends across the country next week but I don't want to anymore

Upvotes

They live in Seattle and I live in Virginia. We were good friends for a while but then we were separated by distance for 2-3 years and contact has really gone down between us. Even when I do talk to them it doesn't feel like there's an actual connection there. A lot of times I'll be the one to reach out and I won't get a response for days if ever.

One of these friends makes more of an effort to stay in touch and has even invited me to his wedding he plans to have in 2026 so it might be worth it to visit him in between then. But even with him it feels like I've outgrown the relationship in a way and can't really relate to him anymore.

It shouldn't feel like a burden to go visit friends but that's what's happening. I think that even if I go, I'll spend most of my time alone in a hotel instead of with them because they're usually busier than I am but also because it would be preferable to me to do things I enjoy in the city and enjoy my own company.

I'm this👌🏾close to just cancelling the flight and coming up with an excuse. I'm just not excited about going to see them.

Celebration I did 100 Reverse Crunches today, I don't feel that proud of myself but I wanted to celebrate anyway

I can never exercise properly for the life of me, most discipline I've had was a week and just pushed through I guess, I'm very weak and unfit but throughout today I managed to do batches of 5-20 reverse crunches over the day and it was really hard and I thought I wouldn't be able to do it but I did? And it feels weird? I should be proud but I don't and I just feel like it was weirdly easy. So I guess here's a small celebration lol. Go me?

Just Chatting How big is your social or friend group?

Upvotes

The number of people who are your friends or people who you talk to like every once in a while. (Basically, your Close friends and Casual friends)

Me (M22), I have like 4-5 close friends and about 20-25 casual friends with whom interact on a monthly basis.

M22 — let’s talk about nothing and everything at 2AM like normal people

hey, i’m 22. emotionally available depending on the playlist and how many times i’ve rewatched normal people this month. here to make casual convos feel like those quiet scenes where nobody says much but everything hurts. i’m into films, music that ruins your mood beautifully, and convos that spiral from “wyd” to “do you think we’ll ever really know someone?” looking for the marianne to my connell—or at least someone who gets the silence. overthinkers, introverts, emotional gymnasts—slide in, let’s talk like we’re in a sad but pretty indie show.

Questions If you don't like traveling that much, is there any place that would be an exception?

I dislike traveling for the most part of the situations, I'm not really interested in meeting many places. however, I'd like to visit Santiago, Buenos Aires and Montevideu, but I guess it's restricted to it. what about you?

What's your favourite way to treat yourself?

Upvotes

Small pleasures like having a bowl of ice cream watching a show after a hard week, grabbing a beer in the sun with friends, buying fresh pastries from the bakery for Sunday breakfast..

I'm trying to stop consuming refined sugar and alcohol to live healthier so now I'm trying to find replacements for these little indulgences.

Thoughts & Ideas Wholesome project: I'm collecting beautiful mentions of 'Jess' or 'Jesse' in fiction/music for my girlfriend's birthday — have any to share?

Upvotes

For my girlfriend’s birthday, I’m making her a book full of all the beautiful, inspiring, or touching uses of her name — Jess or Jesse — in books, movies, or music.

If you can remember any time a character named Jess/Jesse was described in a powerful, lovely, or emotional way (bonus if her name is used in the line), I’d be so grateful to include it. Doesn’t have to be famous — even small indie stuff is welcome.

Thanks in advance — I’m hoping this little collection will make her smile

What Mandela effect really messes with you?

Mandela effects are pretty fascinating, the fact that so many remember something a certain thing one way but it was actually a different, memory and experience is such an interesting thing.

The Berenstain bears one gets me, like many people I grew reading them and I couldn’t wrap my head around that this is the correct spelling of it.

The Pikachu black tip tail also really blows my mind. My brothers were huge into Pokémon, had a bunch of cards and gameboy games, other merchandise stuff, I watched the tv show once in awhile and I always remember him with a black tipped tail and he looks weird without.

My language partner ghosted me after hearing my voice

I've been using a language exchange app to learn and talk to people in a foreign language. I was talking to one person quite regularly. One day we decided to start sending voice notes. After sending my first one, they stopped talking to me.

I don't think my voice is all that weird, but damn 💀 anyone else had something similar happen?

Thoughts & Ideas Do you have a secret trick?

Upvotes

Do you have a way of doing something that makes it easier or more efficient? Something that you do but you’re not sure if everybody knows about it? If so please share it here.

I'll start with a few of mine:

  1. Save soap scraps aside, when you've got a few of them break them into smaller pieces and microwave them, they'll melt and you can make a new bar of soap out of them.

  2. When sorting wires put them individually in small see-through bags with the ends of each wire clearly visible, it prevents them getting taffled and having to spend ages untaffling wires to get to the one you want. I tend to use those small plastic coin bags you get free from banks for this.

  3. When cooking pasta boil a kettle of water, add it to the pasta in a pan, cover the pan and wrap a towel around the pan, then let the pasta soak in the hot water for about 10-15 mins. The heat from the boiling water cooks the pasta without needing to use the hob.

  4. If you're going to be pressed for time throughout the week make sandwiches and then freeze them. Cheese sandwiches last months in the freezer in my experience and still be fine to eat. I've found if you take them out the freezer and put them in your bag when making breakfast they'll've defrosted by noon and be pretty much indistinguishable from freshly made sandwiches.

So how about you? What are your secret tricks?

Technology Pinterest has become bloated with AI and ads. What are some good alternatives for the same purpose?

I've had Pinterest for years and have used for a variety of things from interior design, wedding planning, D&D and more. But recently, it's completely insufferable. Every post is either some AI generated crap or it's an ad.

I'm looking for decent alternatives for creating similar themed collections of pictures for the purposes of inspiration, idea gathering, etc.

Any recommendations?

Music I need variety in my ears

I'm looking for music recommendations. I just wanna spice up my listening. I listen to music almost constantly at work so that I can focus. I would like to change my music algorithms on Spotify up a bit by adding new music, so hit me with some suggestions.

I don't have a particular genre, I like to listen to a lot of different things. I'm also open to trying things I wouldn't necessarily pick off a list myself.

So, hit me with your favourites or just your feel goods...

Questions Is there any part of your college years you wish you could reverse?

Upvotes

To my dreamers:

For many of us, college was an interesting experience most likely a mix of the good and the bad. For instance, you might have been having fun and free of job responsibilities but at the same time you were damn-near or if not broke.

One thing I wish I could reverse: the damn Humanities classes they made us take. They had nothing to do with my eventual career. I work as a photo retoucher/illustrator and were BORING AS HELL! Str8 up waste of time.

So let's here yours! Whether it's a good, bad or funny thing you wish you could press the rewind button on.
