Bank Account Bonus Bank Bonus Weekly Thread - Week of April 01, 2025

This is the Weekly Bank Account Bonus Thread. Use it for anything related to bank accounts and bonuses, such as:

* Churning mechanisms (DD, etc)

* Data points (did bank X bonus arrive)

* Other bank account discussions/questions

Before asking a question, first search:

You can also call the bank with questions, but only if you are precisely following the T&C. Otherwise, don’t call the bank!

Also: The mod team is aware that there are bank bonuses that either require a referral or have elevated bonuses when using a referral. Examples would be Schwab and Varo. Do not ask for referrals in this thread - if you want/need a referral for one of those accounts, please check the "Miscellaneous Referrals" thread on r/churningreferrals. Posting or soliciting referral links for those accounts will result in being banned from this sub.

Please post new bank churning opportunities as top level posts for wider visibility.

I was approved for 21 accounts/SUBs last year. It was my first time doing this and I kept pretty good records except... I kind of slacked when it came to closing the accounts. I can kind of guess for some of them. May be able to find info if I search my email. I did that for a few and got nothing when it comes to the closing. Would it be wrong to call and ask "When did I close my account?".

I will keep better records going forward. I've now broken the spread sheet down by year.

Hi, I am brand new! I am a sole proprietor of a business and already have a business checking account. Can I set up an ACH with my partner via this account? (BofA> BECU business checking> ACH to [offer] bank)

Is there any personal risk to me/my business? Am I understanding correctly how this works?

Thanks!

Bank Of America

NFCU push deposit March 25

NFCU push deposit on March 27

Bonus deposit April 4

Just got my first churn payout, I did an ach push from NFCU and didn’t think it would work, but it did!

1

u/kevenz123 1d ago

Feels nice seeing that bonus posted

1

u/RandomAnon6 1d ago

It really did! I was not expecting it, bc folks said nfcu wouldn’t count as DD.

1

u/Beduerus 1d ago

Bank of america is very lenient on what counts as DD. Basically any ACH push would work

Do you have any banks that you keep getting declined with? I've had no luck with Dedham Savings (good SUB) and Harbor One. These are MA/RI banks. Was denied about a year ago. Tried again this week and still nothing. I had a few that denied me when I was going hard at this the beginning/middle of last year. I tried again a few months later and was approved.

There are a couple of Chex-sensitive banks in my state that I've been repeatedly been denied for. I try to cooldown my Chex by applying in batches spaced about 2-3 months apart, but sometimes that's not enough for banks that look further back on your Chex inquiries.

Getting concerned about PNC $200 bonus. Getting conflicting reports on DoC.

Been ACH transferring from BoA and its showing as "ACH Web Payment". I am worried that between end of February and start of March they updated something and that BoA no longer spoofs as DD.

I called Huntington Bank to close my personal account on 3/17 and they would not do it because I had a $1 balance. They refused to mail me a check so I pulled out the dollar with Fidelity the next day, but then I kept forgetting to call them back and I discovered on 3/31 that my account was closed. I've never heard of a bank closing a zero balance account that quickly. Less than 2 weeks.

53/Fifth Third $350

3/29/2025 - opened account online 3/31/2025 - capital one $501 push 4/2/2025 - $350 bonus posted

Around 12:00 PM on 4/2/2025 - account locked when trying to log in

Account is locked for fraud unless I go in branch with two forms of photo ID + the physical social security card. Absolutely no flexibility on the physical aspect of all forms of ID (I.e. cannot bring the physical passport and license + photo of SS card, etc)

2

u/travelerjake 4d ago

The question is — since I won’t be able to bring all three forms of ID to the branch within 30 days, will the refund check include the $350 bonus?

2

u/travelerjake 4d ago

Update: had no expectation of getting the $350 as it just posted this morning. Banker was going to give me the $850, but the fraud department noticed it on the account and told him not to.

Banker told me that if I come in with my social security card, he will be sure the bonus is linked to my new account. He said that the fraud department confirmed that this does not impact my eligibility for the bonus.

Supposedly the last Valpak coupon mailing included a $400 Wells Cargo targeted checking bonus code.

Does anybody have a spare Wells Fargo $400 checking offer code they could share?

u/crazyrichasian549 51m ago

I have one which i won't be using, expires in a week. Dm me if needed

1

u/2MuchOfUsIsDangerous 4d ago

I'm also looking for one of these if anyone else has a spare. Valpak does not service my zip code :(

1

u/Doctor_Fatbeard 3d ago

sent you a DM

3

u/pasta22 4d ago

I do in fact have a spare I just opened. DM’ed you.

1

u/terpdeterp EWR, JFK 4d ago

Did you have to sign up to receive the Valpak coupons or are they automatically sent out based on a qualifying address? I'm also looking for a code and I'm wondering if it's possible to subscribe somehow.

2

u/pasta22 3d ago

I’ve always automatically got them in the mail here in SoCal. Most of the coupons are for local businesses with only a handful for online/national businesses (Chase and Wayfair are usually in there), so probably depends on the local market for that kind of advertising.

DP for Citizens bank:

Received a flyer for 600$ bonus addressed to a household member but moved out. 500$ DD in 60 days for checking and 500$ x 3 months for savings. Applied on the last day of that flyer.

12/10 joined online, code worked (bonus have a tracker too)

12/25 fidelity cma 500 and transferred to saving

1/5 same

2/20 same

2/25 bonus tracker said all conditions met but not paid yet

3/5 did 20$ zelle for monthly fee avoidance

3/16 Had a login issue so called bank. Asked rep about why bonus not paid yet. Rep asked me for the actual code and said name not matching so bonus will not be paid! So given up any hope

3/25 600$ bonus deposited in checking account!

1

u/downvotesucks 4d ago

I had the same mailer and applied in March. However, for the savings account bonus terms, $500 monthly deposits needed to be continued for three months after the month you open your account. So, in my case Apr/May/June. Seems like you made 1st deposit in the month you opened and it worked!

u/reelbgpunk TPA, PIE 4d ago

Never call the bank with fake DDs.

1

u/Anxious_Day_1654 4d ago

True. Since I couldn't login, had to call

1

u/DepthValley 4d ago

I'm also curious if you have any more details.

My tracker said I did not qualify but almost certain I did. I will call up tomorrow but am curious what eventually convinced them to pay out.

3

u/mikel319 4d ago

It's a known "bug" that the tracker will incorrectly say you didn't qualify.

Wait a couple days, and the tracker will display the correct "congrats" message.

1

u/Various_Occasions 1d ago

My tracker has vanished (I'm at 82 days in). Have you heard of such a thing? I'll call them once I hit 90 days but it's ominous. I did get the $300 from checking DD.

1

u/mikel319 1d ago

The disappearing tracker is common- it should reappear soon. I wouldn’t worry. I also wouldn’t call them. Around day 93 or so you should get the “congrats” message on the tracker.

Doctor of Credit is a great place to get info and discuss bank/credit card bonuses.

1

u/balsaGA 4d ago

Pretty simple: I deposited $15,000 exactly and let it sit. It's still in the account and is 15000.33 with 11 cents interest per month earned.

It didn't take much convincing. I called stating that the automated system wasn't correctly working and I needed some help to resolve the issue. It was quick, easy, and obvious. Kept it so simple anyone could see there was no money movement at all during the required period.

2

u/mcnullt 4d ago

Mind elaborating? How did they reject you? Did you contact first after not receiving the savings component?

Did it show up on your tracker, whether website or app?

1

u/balsaGA 4d ago

I checked on the app/website for the bonus tracker. I've been regularly checking it and once the bonus should have completed I simply checked it again and got a notification that stated I didn't qualify. I did not maintain the minimum required balance.

When I called, they were able to verify that the automated system calculated and rejected my qualification. I obviously had no issue calling them and they were able to correct the issue easily.

Bank of America churn:

  • 10/02/2023: Account #1 opened online (Advantage Plus Checking).
  • 10/20/2023: $200 bonus posted (later received a physical letter confirming it).
  • 02/20/2024: Account #1 closed.
  • 03/04/2025: Account #2 opened online (Advantage SafeBalance Banking). Had to sign in with existing credentials; application kept getting denied otherwise.
  • 03/12/2025: $1,000 Fidelity push
  • 03/17/2025: Received document online confirming $300 bonus enrollment.
  • 03/19/2025: $1,000 Fidelity push
  • 03/26/2025: $1,000 Fidelity push (wasn’t sure if the first one counted since it went through before the bonus enrollment letter was received)
  • 03/28/2025: $300 bonus posted (so the first push likely did count).

1

u/tbgothard 3d ago

My P2 is doing the $300 bonus. Second real DD posts tomorrow pushing us over the min for DD. I don’t recall receiving a confirmation email for bonus enrollment. But on the account application screenshot I took has the offer code and bonus description listed. Hoping it pays out as soon as yours did.

2

u/Atomic_Nexus 2d ago

I got an email specifically about being enrolled in the bonus the first time around, but not this time. If you have eDocuments enabled for all documents for your account, the confirmation letter should show up there for P2's account.

u/MassGuy70 5d ago

I've been thinking about closing my BoA account. Received the bonus in December so I guess it's time. Didn't know I could open answer one so soon. Haven't checked but I thought it would be at least a year.

"Offer is limited to individuals who have not owned or co-owned a Bank of America personal checking account within the last twelve (12) months."

2

u/MassGuy70 4d ago

Thanks! The year didn’t register with me when I read when the first account was opened.

Chase Checking + Savings $900 bonus in progress.

Opened Checking + Savings: 3/14

Funded Savings with 15k: 3/17 (completed 3/19) (Pushed through Capital One HYSA)

Real DD: 3/21

Checking $300 bonus pending: 4/1

Will follow-up with the savings $200 and the combined $400 bonus in June!

2

u/DrOnionOmegaNebula 5d ago

Opened Checking + Savings: 3/14

Funded Savings with 15k: 3/17 (completed 3/19) (Pushed through Capital One HYSA)

Should have waited to send the $15k as now you have forfeited the C1 hysa interest. Better to keep it in your HYSA until closer to the 30 day time limit.

3

u/Ok-Anywhere6998 4d ago

Extra $20 bucks in interest is not worth the piece of mind. Have had plenty of instances where transfers were delayed and I missed out on a bonus completely!

3

u/Ok-Incident-8820 5d ago

I got my savings bonus and bonus bonus today!

1

u/DepthValley 5d ago

How many days after sign up was it?

Technically I think yesterday was the last day I needed the 15k in there. I want to move so I can do another bonus, but also I dont want to accidentally miss out on the large bonuses.

1

u/Ok-Incident-8820 4d ago

I think the T&C says the money doesn't need to stay, but I felt safer that way

1

u/Ok-Incident-8820 4d ago

It was pretty quick, a day or two.

1

u/sangrik 5d ago

Nice! Did you transfer the funds to savings at a location? I tried doing it online but there’s a limit.

2

u/Ok-Anywhere6998 5d ago

Ya, had to push through the other bank!

M&T $500 bonus

Opened: 3/26

Went in bank to deposit $25 cash with my license on 3/27

Pushed $1,001 from PayPal on 3/28

Money showed up as pending all weekend and on 3/31

9:01 AM on 3/31 got an email via Docusign regarding ID verification

4/1, pending $1,001 transfer from PayPal completely disappeared. PayPal said the money should have posted 3/31

I called M&T customer service and they stated that they cannot provide any information about the transaction. Said I need to speak with fraud department or go in branch.

Fraud department said they cannot speak about specific transactions, advised to talk to branch.

Called the branch, said they cannot provide any information without coming in person.

I am out of state for the next week, so the $1,001 is just floating somewhere in the Internet transfer world.

Filed a complaint with the CFPB to find out where the money is.

I had friends advise against using M&T, stating that the juice wasn’t worth the squeeze. They were right. When I went in branch last week, they said the account was fully open and that I could conduct transactions with the account. That turned out to be a lie.

(Just to clarify — I did not call the bank to discuss the status of the bonus. If the PayPal push didn’t work, I was going to try another method without ever contacting the bank. I called the bank because the $1,000 is now missing and they will not provide an explanation)

2

u/travelerjake 3d ago

Another update: debit card arrived in the mail and I activated the card.

Local banker indicated that the account must be open at least 15 days before processing any external transfers. The only transfer that MAY process are ACH. Before the 15 day window, no is allowed to come in or to leave the bank online.

2

u/not_sza 4d ago

Yeah I’ve had issues with them too. I had a dd a few weeks after opening the account but I didn’t get the card til after the dd posted. Got the bonus a few days later but it’s been a trip trying to transfer some of the money out. I think I’m good now but I didn’t realize they were so strict 😭 I’ve always been able to transfer money out w a new checking so it’s been annoying to say the least.

14

u/mcortez4 5d ago

You moved too fast. It's advised on DOC to wait until after you receive your debit card to start pushing money into the account. You pushed money before you even received your docusign email. I'm surprised they didn't lock/close your account since this bank is so sensitive. Hope everything works out.

5

u/travelerjake 5d ago

I was told to deposit $25 in order to have the debit card shipped. When I was meeting with the banker in the branch, she said that the account was eligible for electronic deposits and transfers — even though the card hadn’t arrived yet. She told me I could send money as of the day after opening.

I have a legit direct deposit coming, so there shouldn’t be an issue with the bonus. They’ve taken the CFBP issue seriously, so I don’t envision any future problems once they locate the $1,001.

5

u/mcortez4 5d ago

The $25 was fine and is required when opening in branch. However, the Paypal push before receiving the docusign and debit card is not advised. This bank is super sensitive towards new account openings. Going forward I would go by the DPs on DOC.

3

u/superdex75 5d ago

It's only with the online opening and the DocuSign, which is totally broken (they put a hidden lock on the account). If you open in branch, it's fine from the beginning.

1

u/travelerjake 5d ago

Thank you! Learned my lesson the hard way.

I’m glad I did the PayPal push instead of linking the direct deposit from work as I was advised by the banker.
