Cataclysm Time Is Money, Friend!

Post image

Ever since Cata came out many many moons ago, a young me immediately fell in love with the Goblin race. I absolutely love their little mischievous personalities. Anyways since then, Goblins have been my favorite race in just about anything. Always my main in DnD too. I finally got a traditional style WoW goblin on my shoulder. He's a little bloody and swollen, but I love him!!

I think it's really cool! I'm not a native English speaker but shouldn't there be a comma after "money"? If so that's a super easy fix.

89

u/TheRancidKid Aug 20 '24

Yes, you're absolutely right! I'll have that added on next time I go. Thank you!

15

u/Old_Relief_4594 Aug 21 '24

You 100% do not need to add a coma to this. It looks stoic and clear this way. I have never in my life seen someone tattoo punctuation marks on quote or phrase tattoos. Don’t listen to these nerds haha

7

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '24

You’ve never seen a tattoo with punctuation? Are you….. literate?

1

u/Old_Relief_4594 Aug 21 '24

Did you graduate high school? Be honest

6

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '24

You’re telling me you’ve NEVER seen a tattoo with commas, periods, exclamation points, question marks, or APOSTROPHES?!?!

1

u/Old_Relief_4594 Aug 21 '24

Go to google type in “motivational quote tattoos” and look at the first 30 results. There’s not one tattoo with punctuation except apostrophes. I don’t make the rules bro

6

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '24

I looked up quote tattoos and I see plenty of commas and periods and of course apostrophes because yes that is also considered punctuation. 😂😂😂

No Ragrets!?

The pause is not necessary in speech, as it would be apparent when said aloud, just as in game. The comma is important in text as you wouldn't get the full context without proper sentence structure, especially to someone who doesn't understand the reference that the tattoo is making.

20

u/j3kka Aug 20 '24

Additionally, the sentence structure makes more sense with the comma, Time= subject, is=verb, money=direct object. The comma denotes a direct address to the "friend".

The sentence makes sense even if friend is changed to another direct address, such as to a person: "Time is money, John".

Without a comma, "friend" would be the direct object of the sentence. "Money" would change to an adjective describing what kind of friend... a "money friend".

4

u/drearymoment Aug 20 '24

My friend, Time, is so money! He's my money friend!

3

u/j3kka Aug 20 '24

This guy gets it

8

u/Rabbitary Aug 21 '24

This is completely incorrect.

12

u/ClosertothesunNA Aug 20 '24

Time isn't "money friend" ---- time is money, friend.

5

u/Skeleton--Jelly Aug 21 '24

Did you all ever go to school?

2

u/RedditUser94175 Aug 21 '24

Commas are VERY important and necessary. "Let's eat, Grandma." versus "Let's eat Grandma." With a comma: a nice family dinner. Without a comma: canalbalism.

2

u/budabai Aug 20 '24

I mean it really could be misleading.

“time Is money friend”

Which makes no fucking sense.

Like, time is the friend of money?

-2

u/Benjamminmiller Aug 21 '24

There's no English speaking world where it's going to be misleading.

No one is going to read that phrase and think money is an adjective because of the lost comma.

-2

u/Demonic74 Aug 21 '24 edited Aug 21 '24

Oxford comma, my friend. It has a purpose in writing

EDIT: Just commas, not the oxford comma. I made a mistake

3

u/Skeleton--Jelly Aug 21 '24

This is not what an Oxford comma is...

1

u/Demonic74 Aug 21 '24

My english teachers are disappointed in me, rip.

Thanks, I added an edit

1

u/Benjamminmiller Aug 21 '24

It absolutely does, but this isn’t an example where omitting an Oxford comma leads to confusion because there isn’t a second legible sentence.

1

u/Demonic74 Aug 21 '24 edited Aug 21 '24

It's still incorrect to not use the oxford comma

EDIT: I'm an idiot

1

u/Inside_Pangolin_398 Aug 21 '24

I don't think you know what the oxford comma is 🤣

1

u/Demonic74 Aug 21 '24

Thanks, I added an edit

1

u/Benjamminmiller Aug 21 '24

Sure, I was just saying it’s not misleading.

7

u/Andrew1286 Aug 20 '24

Grammatically, yes you are correct. However in this case and for a tattoo it's not really necessary. It rolls off the tongue with no pause. If you were speaking formally or writing a paper then yes a comma would be necessary.

1

u/Regular_Bonus_3764 Aug 21 '24

Little bit ironic, that the tattoo guy saved himself some time and hence some money!

23

u/BBQsandw1ch Aug 20 '24

Have a good one!

1

u/xaioxi Aug 21 '24

I’m not your homie, boy.

22

u/SethAndBeans Aug 20 '24

Love that you went traddy. It's gonna heal great.

I've got ~80ish tattoos and at this point I cringe when I see someone with a $10k hyper realistic piece with no borders that'll just be soup in 5 years.

Yours though? That will stay nice and pretty for ages.

4

u/TheRancidKid Aug 20 '24

Thanks so much man. Id be lying if I said some of those crazy expensive/super realistic pieces don't make me jealous! But in all honesty, you are absolutely right. As those layers and dead cells shed, it's going to become an amalgamation of colors and unidentifiable shapes.

But simple trad tattoos can hang on for a really long time, with a touchup here and there.

Plus, with my style (and budget!) trad just seems to be the way to go :)

I hope to accumulate 80+ like you one day! One step at a time.

-4

u/turtledancers Aug 20 '24 edited Aug 21 '24

Meh I have traditional 5 thru 9 liners that are big pieces. It really depends on what looks good after 10 years. The whole realism and fine line going bad has been debunked 10 times over. Another thing is it’s really common to have light raising on thick liners no matter how well it’s applied. Even ink spreading over the years. There’s always some pros and cons in tattoo styles.

If you're pointing and cringing at peoples tattoos in general, you are a complete dork. You even have fine line realism tattoos on you posted in your profile and your WoT tattoo is overworked skin. I don't see how you possibly have ~80 tattoos if you have that much open space in the pictures you posted.

G.T.L. friend, Gamblin', Tinkerin', Launderin'

4

u/TheRancidKid Aug 20 '24

I love that. I want a "Live, Laugh, Love" style bed bath and beyond picture to hang in my kitchen with those words on it

2

u/SGNitefox Aug 20 '24

I guess it's actually Laundry, after the jersey shore reference, but I always heard it as Launderin'

18

u/TheRancidKid Aug 20 '24

3

u/Lunai5444 Aug 21 '24

4

Getting a green skin tattooed on you is awful. Now YOUR skin is green

1

u/TheRancidKid Aug 21 '24

You racist POS!

3

u/PoliticalPepper Aug 21 '24

Sunblock is money friend

1

u/TheRancidKid Aug 21 '24

It's just raw! I swear! I love my spf100

8

u/shockingnews213 Aug 20 '24

You should wear sunscreen on your shoulders bro

2

u/LeatherClassroom524 Aug 21 '24

It’s the only place I usually bother to put sunscreen. The angle to the sun is fierce. I don’t want cancer.

1

u/shockingnews213 Aug 22 '24

It's a lesser known thing, but sunscreen thin applications don't work well especially in areas of high exposure. It'll look silly, but really slather that shit on there. If it look gunky and it's like a mound then that's actually a good amount. I know it's expensive to do it that way, but that is the most effective way to apply sunscreen.

6

u/ShadyDrunks Aug 20 '24

I gotta get a “wash yer back” one now

4

u/TheRancidKid Aug 20 '24

Keep it real!

4

u/Goldstein_Goldberg Aug 21 '24

I think it's gonna look bad in 5 years. RIP

Stephen King wants his truck back 😂

1

u/TheRancidKid Aug 20 '24

lmfao MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE! God, what a terrible film.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '24

Best use some of that money and see a dermatologist pal, or you may not have too much time left

2

u/TheRancidKid Aug 20 '24

What's wrong with my skin lol

0

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '24

This two bumps on the top of your shoulder, have they always been there?

4

u/TheRancidKid Aug 20 '24

Ohh, I'm a professional wrestler. I commonly wrestle what's known as "death matches". They are just raised scars/keloids. All good!

1

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '24

Ohhh okay good 👍

1

u/TheRancidKid Aug 21 '24

For everyone commenting on my skin, I am a pro wrestler who frequently wrestles what are known as "deathmatches". Because of this, I am covered in cuts, scars, keloids, etc. trust me, I wear sun screen lol

Thank you!

1

u/slaveoth Aug 22 '24

Don’t you need to visit a dermatologist?

1

u/TheRancidKid Aug 22 '24

Why's that?

2

u/slaveoth Aug 23 '24

looks like you have a Pityriasis versicolor or something but I’m not a doctor lol

1

u/TheRancidKid Aug 23 '24

Nah, im a Deathmatch wrestler so I'm often covered in scars/keloids, red marks etc

1

u/ArtPristine2905 Aug 22 '24

Thanks a lot!! I appreciate it very much. Very happy with the turnout. :)

2

u/meistercheems Aug 21 '24

Sorry bro but I’m stealing this

3

u/TheRancidKid Aug 21 '24

Typical goblin behavior

1

u/Cheap_Blacksmith66 Aug 20 '24

Someone just posted the same eagle as their first tattoo in another sub today

1

u/TheRancidKid Aug 20 '24

That timing though. To be fair, American Traditional eagles are extremely common. Many of them look almost identical lol.

1

u/Cheap_Blacksmith66 Aug 20 '24

Haha right? Still looks awesome 💪

-1

u/HoopyFroodJera Aug 20 '24

That's sick.

-1

u/rupat3737 Aug 20 '24 edited Aug 20 '24

Hell yeah! I have a very similar tattoo! Check your DMs. I sent you a picture of mine.

1

u/TheRancidKid Aug 20 '24

It looks great!! I really dig the font choice and that shade of green is wonderfully looking :)

u/rupat3737 Aug 20 '24

Ty ty, it was my friends first paid tattoo in a shop he was an apprentice at so definitely parts of it coulda been better. Yours is sick too! I really like the banner and the layout. Gives me a little American traditional vibes.

Oh nooooo, anyways

5

u/SethAndBeans Aug 20 '24

If you look for hatred everywhere, even where none is intended, you'll start to create the hatred just to prove yourself right. That hatred will fill you and corrupt you.

Be kind, and don't hyper focus on problems that don't exist.

It's weird.

3

u/TheRancidKid Aug 20 '24

Totally agree man!

3

u/oskoskosk Aug 20 '24

You’re not wrong but wow has always kicked down at everyone and somehow got a pass anyways 😅 trolls speak with Jamaican slang and can’t wear boots ffs

5

u/Kiwiandapplex Aug 20 '24

We also have toes coming out of the back of our feet. I take good care of them.
