Humor / Meme What's the most unique excuse you've heard for leaving a raid?

A few years back (can't remember the exact raid, version, or server), we were midway through a raid after downing a couple of bosses. Suddenly, one of our newer guild members, a gnome mage, if I recall correctly., chimes in on voice chat: "Sorry guys, I need to go. My girlfriend has just shaved."

We were all a bit confused at first, but then it hit us. Booty call had higher priority than the raid. It became an instant classic in our guild and gave us some great laughs.

You got any good ones?

Not in wow, but back in 2011 ish I was playing HON with 4 IRL friends, and suddenly one of my friends goes “oh shit my house is on fire” and just disconnects - everyone was fine but his house burned down to the ground. Became a classic for us with the “brb house on fire” years after that

How?  The servers were discontinued years ago

A group called Project Kongor reintroduced the game with the OG map, it’s free to play and is very active. Tens of thousands of players are on at popular times.

I'm gonna check this out, ty.  I played the shit out of that game.  Favorite hero was Midas, I got the silver cosmetic version fully upgraded

He’s one of my favorite burst damage heroes along with pyromancer.

Check it out, the devs are constantly making updates and are completely non profit so they won’t take any donations. The game layout (matchmaking process, mid wars, the shop etc) are just like how you remember it. Very nostalgic.

HoN had some characters with really interesting play styles like Gladiator and Flux. The skins were also better than League's imo. I had this Scout skin that changed depending on what items you bought.

Flux!!!  And yes HoN art and graphics was so much better.  League is honestly like the kiddie MOBA and that's why it became the most mainstream one.  Dota and Hon both have more of a professional and aggressive edge imo.  Portal keying in from completely offscreen, faster gameplay in general.  Man HoN was awesome

And not such a rigid adherence to lanes.  I thought LoL was so weird because of that when I tried it.

Yeah items in HoN were really strong and you had more carry potential. I remember playing Rift Walker and going in 1v5 and winning. Some more characters I thought were cool were Grinex, Solstice, and Kinesis.

Shiiiet I might actually have to check this out. Dota 2 blows now so I've been dicking around in HotS lately. But HoN was my main guy for a solid 8 years.

HoN for me is like the meme with The Reaper and the dog.

-Was I a good boy?
-You were the best boy.

I can't go back because it's just not the same anymore (same with classic for me) but it will forever be GOAT to me.

Heroes of newerth, probably the first dota clone. It would be insanely successful if devs were smart enough to make it f2p from the start.
