Classic 20th Anniversary Realms Which class hard counters Rogues in a 1v1 open world scenario?

Seeing how toxic PvP servers are, there would be nothing more than to make a Rogue seethe in PvP. I'm think it's either hunters or warlocks but is there a best of the beat class to do the job well??

Rogues pick the fights that they can win, making it seem like they are disproportionally stronger than they are

This. Wpvp isn't duels or arena. There is no "counter" to stealth in wpvp until legion. A DH can actually hunt down the rat, no-one else can.

Faerie Fire is a great counter, especially if you use it from stealth while the rogue is attacking someone else, they never see it coming.

The issue is that you don't really need stealth to beat druids

If you start at range from a druid with faerie fire on you, that's not an easy win. How would you ever even get close? This was always a free matchup for me.

And then what, you can maybe close the gap with both, but with just 1 you are not getting in range, not to mention how the druid may also use these.

I'm not sure what kind of answer you're looking for here, you asked how I would close a gap on a druid using faerie fire, I told you how to close the gap, if you think a druid is going to last against a rogue going toe to toe then I don't even know what to tell you, unless a druid is burning MCP's then rogues ridiculously out dps them, they can interrupt your spells in a variety of different ways (kick, stuns, los) they front load damage, any distance you temporarily get just recharges their energy and reloads their ability to burst, sprint is faster than cat, you can be bled or poisoned to prevent stealth, I genuinely don't know what you're looking for here

You also can't use a grenade while stunned by a grenade and why you'd want to use a fap unless the rogue you're opening on is running around with crippling poison equipped is beyond me

I'm sorry that you've played against bad rogues I guess or people that panic when they're opened on

A rogue will not engange a druid in world unless he can stun combo them

There was a counter to stealth before the Spy nerf in 2019. Anti-stealth tools like flare have to be used proactively, and there’s no way to see if there’s a rogue anywhere near you without scanning the combat log.

Track Hidden increases your stealth detection, however I can only think of one time where I heard the stealth noise and hightailed it, and upon further review might have been a stealthed cat in badlands

Some addons tell you when someone enters stealth in your combat log.

Hunters have everything they need to track down stealthies. You just need to be good at Hunter

Good point, but I would say this is precisely what makes them so strong, the ability to pick fights (and the element of surprise), so i wouldn't say it makes them seem disproportionately strong, I think they ARE disproportionately strong (in wpvp).

Perhaps I worded it poorly, everything you are saying is correct

I think that what I really meant was that Rogues can seem oppressively strong because they engage in fights where they can't lose and sometimes offer no counterplay, but that in a true 1v1 both sides aware they aren't nearly as good

As you pointed out, stealth itself is what makes them really strong in wpvp which is 100% true

Rogues are disproportionately powerful simply because if they're played right and you have all your CDs up, no one stands a chance.

Damn right. Good luck trying to hard counter my ambush crit when i wont show myself until you are sitting to regen at 50% hp
