Season of Discovery How do you prevent multiple tanks getting mc'd on Mythic KT?

What the title says, my guild has been having a lot of issues with it. Multiple tanks get mc'd and then we start losing people and we wipe.

Have a third tank

We do currently have a third tank. He manages ads while the other two tanks stay on kt. The ones on KT always end up getting mc'd at the same time.

Sounds like a job for a 4th tank..

In all seriousness, we either kite the adds/bring them to the third tank while he's on KT, kite KT himself, or just let the melee hunter tank KT (they've got 30k+ hp with an Old Gods flask). The mind control doesn't really last long enough for it to be much of an issue.

Lmao, that's fair.

The third tank isn't there to exclusively pick up adds.

We actually used 4 tanks for first kills, then dropped down to 3 tanks only. It helped a lot. And healers not dying in fissures too, sadly.

RNG is fun, get a fourth tank, it's a 40 man raid. You should have one from 4 horseman anyways.

You can solo tank four horsemen on SoD on mythic in a 20 man group.

LOL didn't see the SOD tag.

But more options for a fourth tank in SOD.

You don't need 4 tanks for 4 horsemen.

Yeah, we're gonna probably end up trying that. We don't use a 4th "tank" for that 4 horseman we typically use 3 and a dps warlock.

Because the phase is over and it's just fun at this point.

  • Use 3/4 tanks (2-3 on KT, one on add duty - but they can also threat the boss)
  • Have melee hunters/rets use the threat seal specifically for the first iteration of KT. Have the threat table look like this: Main tank, melee DPS, off tank. Chances are MT and a DPS will get MC'd leaving OT in the clear. Also if your MT/OT both get MC'd the ret can bubble or hunter can LIP/Feign.
  • The last phase is kind of a wash - its all about survival - keeping the tanks/healers alive to pick up everything and CC. Boss decays natty but damage does help.

Good luck!

Really appreciate the info, not super knowledgeable about this place and my guild has been struggling for a while on it lol. Thanks!

Absolutely. Also throwing down target dummies, utilizing LIPs (limited invunerability potions), having DPS warriors or druids LIP + challenging shout/roar to help with adds in the last phase is very very nice.

KT doesn't do a lot of damage, so on the off-chance you get a 2x tank MC, just have your feral go bear for 15 seconds and tank it.

KTs tank damage is a joke, even on hm4x my raid has 4 tanks during that fight. If you have someone with even ok tank gear; try having them be there in case.

We just cleared for the first time this week and we used 4 tanks, just removes a lot of the RNG and lets tanks be more flexible when you undoubtedly get top 2 MC every time in the burn phase lol

Melee hunters, warriors and paladin dps can tank him if needed. Healers just need to be aware and the melee dps needs to position the boss decently.

That's the cool part, you don't

You don’t

KT MC is based on threat. You obviously need a tank with the most threat, but any other tanks need to be 4th or below.

I like to try to stay at 5th, then when the MC goes out I make a push to snap him up.

On HM4 we run 4 tanks.

Its somewhat RNG who will end up taking adds and who will stay on KT during Phase 4 - we just play it by ear as the fight unravels.
