Classic 20th Anniversary Realms Looking for advice on Rank 14 weapons.
I asked this question on discord and was told that off hand weapon speed didn't really matter until TBC. I play mainly daggers but would be looking to play daggers for pve and swords for pvp.
Should I take the two R14 daggers at 2 sec weapon speed and am I selecting the correct swords? Or is it preferable to have two of the same type of sword?
Thanks for your time, folks o/

Swords = Slow mainhand, fast offhand. Daggers=Highest top damage dagger in main hands usually slowest

Just make sure you buy each and every weapon you can equip x2 (besides the obvious caster ones). Better to have extras for diff enchants etc or if your preferences change than to lose R14 and be locked out of making changes.

You can't lose R14 on anniversary servers. They've done away with decay.

I have read that you even with the new system you could lose ranks if after reaching R14 you still do PvP like for example trying to get some PvP factions on exalted but not enough PvP to reach enough honor for R14 so you will then downgrade to R13. I want to know is this true or bullshit?

There is no decay week to week. If you get DHKs you can still lose ranks.

Traditionally for rogues in Vanilla WoW offhand speed isn’t THAT important. If given the option and all other things are equal a faster weapon is better, but all it does is increase instant poison procs.
With the debuff cap removed that opens up the possibility of using Deadly poison on the offhand which requires a fast weapon or very good luck to get and maintain 5 stacks of. (I don’t know if Deadly Poison is used right now on anniversary servers I don’t have a max character on anniversary).
Combat Potency is the talent added in TBC that makes offhand speed super important

Deadly poison is used, but it's super rng. I've had whole onyxias where I gotten procs but did 0 damage with it, and also where I got 0 procs entirely with a 1.6speed offhand.
I suspect it might be following the old style of debuff stacking that deep wounds/ignite had, so if someone else stacks it up with more luck you can apply it but deal 0 damage.

I’m pretty sure only 1 person can use it in the whole raid, and for everyone else it won’t proc if a deadly poisons on the boss from another player

In general slow mh, fast oh. I've simmed the r14 vs corehound in the offhand and the r14 dagger is higher at least for my gearset.
The difference between fast and slow daggers, at least once you get into epics, is so small that it tends not to matter. It matters more for swords since they have a much higher speed variance.
