Classic 20th Anniversary Realms Possible (controversial) solution to AV afkers

What if lieutenants only gave XP to players within a certain range.

The exact range can be discussed but I feel it would solve the afk problem outright.

"But what if I farm mid, then I won't get XP from lieutenants"

Correct! You get xp from HKs that the others playing the objectives do not get.

They can solve the afk prpblem by not having such a stupid fucking calculation in determining your honor ranking. Requiring x amount of honor per week just incentivizes afking more because the grind is ridiculous and losing a bunch of honor because you didnt reach an arbitrary threshhold is fucking stupid.

I would love to hear from a dev how they love that every bg is a rush to just get it fucking over with. I doubt thats what they want the spirit of the bgs to be.

Just turn it into a classic xp bar.

This is it 1000% and the first time I've seen someone say it. Everyone is bumping their gums about afkers, midfield farmers, ect and completely overlooking the real problem, the outdated honor system.

Idk, if you told the original devs that thousands of players are grinding AV for 40 hours a week 20 years after the game was released, they might feel pretty pleased with themselves 😂 also the gear is so ridiculously overpowered that I like that there’s a painful grind associated with it. TBH I think the honor caps could be a bit higher

I like the cap system, it unites the playerbase and stops you from completely no-lifing while also motivating players do be active. If there were no limits on honor gains, tryhards would be done very quick and everyone with less time to play is left with 30+ minute matches. It also engages everyone to play battlegrounds during the same weeks, resulting in fast Qs and a feeling of Classic being "alive".

I also enjoy rushing through AV tbh, but I guess if you seek a different experience you can just take it slow with ranking and play once everyone else is done to get that authentic AV turtle experience

The only issue with that is you also get honor for towers and your LTs not getting killed at the end of the game, 198 for each one. So it would also effect the defenders that are contributing with the LTs and bunkers. (When I feel like spicing up AV I'll defend those. The LTs are harder to defend but the bunkers are usually recapable).

The afk'ers are doing less harm than a lot of the fully engaged 5head epic pvp'ers ruining games for the other 60 people

I've long held the opinion that all PVP objectives should have an aura that gives a rep and honor boost for HKs gained and passively ticks up your honor points for being near at a reasonable rate. Give people an incentive to fight near objectives and if you're gonna AFK at least you're AFKing near an objective instead in a GY or a starting room.
