It's called narcissism and it's genuinely shocking how many people have no clue what it looks like. Especially so considering it's a literal side effect of obscene wealth and that's who this country has been worshipping at the altar of for the last 40 years.

I feel like a spell is cast with narcissism where people are SO dumb they think these guys are charismatic.

A normal person doesn't find Trump charismatic they find him repugnant. We just have a lot of dipshits who have a 0/10 'judge of character' skill.

He’s a poor man’s winner. Trump acts very “poor”. He’s petty, vindictive, stupid, unwilling to listen, etc. but he’s also rich.

So poor people, who are insecure about their own value, see it as “hey ppl like me can be successful! So it must be something else holding me back. Like liberals,..”

And Shazam. We’re here.

It's a deeper instinctual thing I think. Like we've de-evolved the ability to see dangerous behavior.

I can see through Trump's act and that has never been a problem for me. But it's like some people just lack the wiring that should set of 'charlatan' alarm bells.

And let's think about how unpopular the shit he does is vs the shit he says he's going to do is. Make no mistake that he's not giving those people the things they want (outside of the richest most hateful among them), he's just... god to them. He's a golden calf and it should be the most obvious thing in the world.

When he gets on stage and does his little smirking handjob act they say 'oh my god this man is the coolest motherfucker to ever live' and normal people say 'that man is 4'10" of stacked shit and cringe wearing platform shoes.

I'm familiar with his narcissism, but Elon is also known for trolling so it's not always obvious where he's coming from.

Narcissists are rarely honest and genuinely do things just to get under peoples' skin because they like to see the reaction, aka narcissistic supply, which is what you're calling trolling.

This person isn't referring to what we colloquially know as narcissistic traits, but narcissistic personality disorder, which is always going to be far more common than we'll ever know because of the fact that no narcissist is going out and seeking a diagnosis. They're absolutely everywhere and Trump and Elon are both textbook narcissists. Narcissists are walking egos fueled by narcissistic supply (the constant flow of pain and frustration of others) and pathological avoidance of feeling shame by externalizing hatred onto others. It's its own lifestyle, personality, everything. Every action a narcissist does is in service of their own ego.

edit: not trying to sound like I'm scolding you btw, I've just endured a lot of narcissistic abuse in my life and once you are forced to look into that abyss and research what the fuck is wrong with the narcissist in your life, you see how there really isn't anything unique about narcissists. All of their differences are extremely superficial. They're all exactly the same deep down and they act the same way, even if there are different flavors of narcissist you may encounter in your life. It'd be fascinating if they didn't do such horrific damage to everyone they encounter.

Such a lack of clue that they would believe the biggest attention seeker in the planet has autism.
