Biden will probably shut it down next week, call it a national preserve.

Someone is selling their existing speculative Lithium mining stocks; or asking Deb Haaland to find an endangered creature on site.

Lithium is volatile and the market for it will crash when Natrium or Calcium will be used as replacement in batteries.
And with all the burning vehicles (escooters, ebikes, electric cars, - but not only vehicles, also smartphones and other battery-appliances from flashlights to kids-toys) i could very well imagine that this material will be phased out by legislation as soon as alternatives are available.

They’re going to tie it up in environmental red tape. The BLM owns massive areas of Nevada so it’s going to be subject to federal regs.
I think this talk is thrown around to scare foreign governments by saying “look, we don’t have to mine in your country. We can do it in our’s and you’ll get nothing. Instead, why don’t you give us subsidies so we can provide you jobs and security.”

Never get permitted. It sounds sexy but there is no way the BLM (agency - not hired thug protesters) will ever clear this project. Even IF they get through the EIS (it’ll take at least 10 years), then NGOs will tie this up in litigation and red tape because “climate change wasn’t properly addressed” or to “save habitat for the elusive nevadaho sage tweety”. It’ll never happen. This announcement was already built into the speculative markets and money has already been made in n the margins. Good job Nance and friends in congress. Hope your trades went well this week.

Well, they would probably mine it...if slave labor or 10 cent per day wages were available.
Likely it will just sit there.

I’m sure mining for lithium is more detrimental to land than drilling for oil.

Remember, lithium is not energy - it only holds energy. Which is the main reason I also like ICE & hybrids (which are half-ICE). The energy has to come from somewhere or else the collective West will fail.
btw the geology looks good to me, just scanning it, it comes across that way. But what do I know?
If you are cynical this is good news for Chile, Bolivia and Ecuador, as it might mean the USA might not eye them. Whereas if you are not cynical it is somewhat bad news for those countries as it means the price of lithium will likely be a bit lower.
