And more importantly, they want to hurt everyone who is or thinks different. That’s pretty problematic by itself.

That's the part I really don't understand. Like, when did empathy go out of fashion? We know that The Orange Troll is a sociopath, but why are all his followers - at least outwardly - that way too, even the ones who definitely know better?

Fear + Low IQ/Lack of education + No self awareness + 24x7 Propaganda is a potent drug. And the lack of self awareness is one of the worst elements there. Dunning-Kruger is real, and heavily on display with that whole cohort.

I agree that that's definitely true for some of these people, but not all of them. Some of them are just towing the line for what they perceive to be their own interests ( this mostly applies to other politicians and talking heads.)
