Lions seem to try and pick players with good character, im sure it's part of why their locker room has such an amazing vibe.

Honestly, Buggs and Sutton are pretty much the only "turds" we've had on the team during the Campbell era, as far as I recall. I don't want to lump CJGJ in here because he's fine off the field, but his onfield character is ass.

How does Brad find these people?

u/Amaakaams Roary 1d ago
Seriously. Specially when drafting he always seems to find the most humblest and nicest players. Even when kinda pigeonholed like with Hutch (because character concerns or not we had to take him), he might be the best person in the bunch.
Love our locker room so much. But to be as elite as the team is with only getting top character guys, that's a real feat.

My wife is fond of saying that people rise to the expectations you set for them. Some of what you're talking about is likely because the locker room EXPECTS guys to act like that. D-bags find themselves on the outside looking in.

Khyree was going to be one hell of a player for the Vikings. Very sad that he left us way too early, and huge respect to TA for honoring his memory this way.

Still not happy my Jamo jersey won't be current anymore, but this one is understandable.

You can call yourself an OG fan now tho before he goes off this season

Why? It's a collectors item now — no more Gibbs 26 jerseys will ever be made. Anyone who sees you wearing a Gibbs 26 jersey is going to know you've been on board since the beginning.
People buy merch that's related to one-off events or single-season designs, like the helmets from last year. All the gray merch is now "not current," as is any merch that has the font from before the re-design. It's all good, though! It represents the season in which it was purchased. I think it's kinda cool, actually.

I agree. I'd take my brothers number over a nickname any day but I don't understand Gibbs. Is it because it resembles a ring? Gibbs is going to be special so I'd hold onto that jersey for awhile. It could be worth something down the road.

He recently said he hated 26. The numbers he wanted weren’t available to him as a rookie.

I think Gibbs just didn’t like 26, and I think Jamo had dibs on 1 after all these years😂

You knew his skills before his upcoming contract earning season. You got in on the ground floor.

I'm as excited to see TA in year 2 as any sophomore Lion campaign ever. I thinking bringing a guy like DJ is going to be great for TA, a true professional who figured out how to be a star despite all the odds against him. I also think Ennis is going to push everyone to step it up in every practice.
We might have the best secondary in the NFL next season.

My guess is it was too late to change numbers after he passed away last year. I'm sure Iffy would have given it up otherwise.

I was so happy we drafted him and every single of these little personal stories that keep coming out make the dude look like he is just a kind soul and a genuinely good person.
I'm going to go dust because it obviously just got really dusty in here. Have a good Sunday fellow Lions fans. FTP

That’s legit and I respect it.
I do think the NFL should have a jersey trade in program for stuff like this though.

Khyree never gave up a TD in the NFL, never allowed a catch in the NFL, he was never even targeted - hell there wasn't even an NFL play where the QB so much as looked at his side of the field. That's the way he should be remembered.
