Having grown up in SWFL, it blows my mind that I see people asking what these ducks are almost every single day. This is the second post just today I’ve seen asking what type of duck it is, and it is a Muscovy. I didn’t know people kept them as pets until I moved out of Florida though.

Muscovies are the best, they were bread for meat, hence their size, and they breathe heavy/hiss instead of quack, while bobbing their head forward and back, and wagging their tales! They have such wonderful personalities

Male muscovy and what looks like a female pekin. If they’re eating from your hand, they’re domesticated. Interestingly, muscovies are not technically ducks. They can mate with ducks but produce sterile hybrid offspring.

They are ducks. They're just in a different genus than the Mallard types (which are what most domestic ducks are). Correct about the mating and offspring though.

Many people believe they breed sterile! But that isn’t true it’s no different from where I am we have white tail bucks mating with mulies and now we don’t have a single whiletail doe in the area.. but we were all told they are sterile and that’s just not true they reproduce

Muscovy for the win with the cute mask! And Pekin with the pure white and orange beak probably they are siblings and they are Muscovy/pekins!

The one with the red face is a Muscovy. And the white. Not sure. Pekin like others said maybe.
They might be dumped or escaped domestics.
