Question hyperadrenergic POTS and insomnia?- help
Hello, those of you with hyperadrenergic POTS, is insomnia a main symptom?
I experience adrenaline surges awake everytime I start to fall asleep, over and over again.
I have a high resting heart rate, I feel wired during the day as if my nervous system is in overdrive constantly and canโt switch off to rest.
This all started after a fall and hitting my head and injuring my neck. Iโve had these symptoms for 5 weeks now
Has anyone else experienced insomnia like this? And has anyone found medications which resolve the symptoms or managed to recover entirely? Thanks ๐๐ป๐

I have the same thing. Do you find food actually worsens your sleep or is it other kinds of reactions you're having to it? I'm diagnosed with MCAS also.

Some food does. Now i only have 4 safe foods n all of a sudden im having reactions to them but mostly mucous n weird feeling in throat. Other foods make my heart race so fast over 150 n some cause worse adrenaline n insomnia at njght.

Beta blocker helped some but causes throat tightness- the adrenaline feels like when u miss a step n u r about to fall. Or when u almost crash car. Its horrible feeling. N its over. N over. N over. When i try to fall asleep. More strange symptoms are popping up as time goes on Its scary. Now its reacting to random things, heavy tingly limbs. Fatigue, sleep issues, headaches, brain fog, racing heart, sometimes intrusive thoughts, sensitivity to noise & lights, pulsatile tinnitus and high pitched ringing off n on. But the adrenaline at night is worst feeling ever. I have not gotten a break in 4.5 months ๐ My friend put me in touch w lady lives near me w similar issues & she has had thr adrenaline & other issues since she had covid in 2021. I hope ours isnt that long ๐

Has similar symptoms, and antihistamines zyrtec help reduce symptoms by about 70%. Night waking and night heart rate jumps are much less.

Over in the hyperpots Facebook group, patients have most success with guanfacine for the surges. Can start at just half a 1 mg tablet
Then add on beta blocker or ivabradine if u need something for tachycardia
