It’s the inconspicuous ones that get you.  As was called out in another chat, watch out for instigators.  They hire regular looking people in these roles for a reason, it’s not always going to be the big white male.  If someone is constantly pushing for people to throw things, commit violence on people or property, and typically not taking part in the general aspects of the protest, those are people to be wary of as well

Provocateurs

You have the First Amendment right to peaceable assembly. Be sure to keep gatherings peaceful and don’t get near any activity that isn’t peaceful. There’s a clear difference between holding a sign and singing versus throwing something.

Exactly right!

Remember, police aren't trained to Investigate, they're trained to 'Build a Case'. Even if there's no evidence of a crime, they start with the assumption that you are guilty. Police and prosecutors aren't promoted for how many times they determine the truth, they're promoted for how many convictions they secure.

With the upcoming protests on the 5th, this is good info to be aware of. Good post, OP! Hope to see lots of people at the courthouse tomorrow!

u/99Smiles 1d ago

What's are you guys doing at the courthouse tomorrow?

3

u/KelliAllred 1d ago

Tomorrow is a protest day in all 50 states. For those of us who can't make it to the larger protest in Seattle, there's going to be one at the Everett courthouse at noon.

2

u/99Smiles 1d ago

Is that for the 50501?

3

u/KelliAllred 1d ago

I believe it's 50501 affiliated, yes.

8

u/JoanJetObjective13 1d ago

Pack the courthouse!

5

u/Review_Spiritual 1d ago

More info on the protests for tomorrow?

9

u/KelliAllred 1d ago

Well, I know there's one in Seattle, and the one at Everett courthouse at noon, and that's about all I've got. I know that there's going to be a really big one in DC that's going to be largely anti-war and pro-Palestine. And that all 50 states are having them. Hope that helped :)

15

u/Flux_State 1d ago

People say "pro-palestine" but in reality they're  anti-genocide. Doesn't matter who the victims are.

5

u/KelliAllred 1d ago

Couldn't agree more.

Thank you!

https://www.brennancenter.org/our-work/analysis-opinion/police-infiltration-protests-undermines-first-amendment

here is solid evidence that police infiltrated the recent demonstrations. A North Dakota officer posed as a protester, photographed activists, and yelled “F**k the police” while checking for guns at a Black Lives Matter protest in Fargo. Undercover officers disguised as Orthodox Jews attended anti-racism protests in New Jersey. The Texas Department of Public Safety outright acknowledged embedding undercover officers in the protests to root out “criminals.”

The idea, ostensibly, is that plainclothes officers can overhear people conspiring to commit violence or other illegal acts and disrupt their plots. But this rationale falls apart on closer examination. The notion that there were coordinated plans to engage in illegal activity turns out to be false. An internal Department of Homeland Security intelligence assessment found that most of the violence at protests has been committed by opportunists interested in looting, not agitators or extremists.

The benefits of infiltration are thus speculative at best. On the other hand, there are proven downsides. Indeed, undercover officers sometimes initiate or enable violence between police and protesters, further escalating the already-violent policing of dissent — a problem that is particularly pertinent for anti-police brutality and Black-led protests, which meet especially forceful resistance from law enforcement.

Remember to turn off location services on your phone. Put it in airplane mode, leave it at home or use a burner.

Use a password for your phone, which requires a court order for them to obtain, not your face or fingerprint, which requires them to hold it up to your face or mash your finger.

Don’t discuss personal information with other protesters. This protects you and them.

If the cops talk to you, respectfully, politely and CALMLY state, I don’t wish to discuss my day with you, am I being detained?

And most importantly, if detained, SHUT THE FUCK UP. Shut up in the paddy wagon, shut up in jail, shut up when questioned. The only thing you say is, I am not answering questions without an attorney present.

u/JoanJetObjective13 1d ago

Great advice for crossing the border, too. Include deleting all Social Media apps on your phone.

4

u/App1eBreeze 1d ago

I reset my devices to factory settings and reinstall once safely across.

2

u/yaykat 1d ago

sincere question:

why when crossing the border? wouldn't they have record/know based on having to flash your Real ID and/or passport?

8

u/TheAngryRussoGerman 1d ago

It’s not to conceal identity. It’s to protect your data from those who WILL abuse it.

u/JimmyJamToeJam 1d ago

Don’t forget the white sweat armband

3

u/lizardsonmytoast 21h ago

Also Yankees hat ew!

u/B33PZR 17h ago

Nice share. Once pointed out very obvious.

The cap is often one of the biggest giveaways. Find the caps, check for other things.

The boots always give them away don't they?

1

u/f-joe-b 12h ago

How about you just don't break the law? Oh that's right, that's what libs do when they don't get their way.

0

u/LRAD 1d ago

Also, check out that armband. Look for color or accessory matches between plainclothes and uniformed police.

That office is the coolest person in that picture

Good to have hero’s around when you don’t know it.

13

u/incubusfc 2d ago

That’s no hero. That’s a traitor.

-8

u/ChristinaM_ 1d ago

Especially since a lot of these things do get out of control. It’s odd to be mad at undercovers being around to try and make sure nothing bad happens

-16

u/Open_Dimension9284 1d ago

If you aren't breaking the law. You shouldn't have to worry about who's a police officer. The keywords are "don't break the law." Protest all you want. Just don't do anything that would incriminate you. If your acting sketchy you probably are.

7

u/forrestmaker 1d ago

Tell that to the guys mistakenly sent to El Salvadoran prison. Your position assumes this government gives a shit about the law or due process.

-11

u/ChristinaM_ 1d ago

People downvoting you are ridiculous. What you’ve stated is 100% true. People who are protesting are so entitled. You don’t control who walks around, anyone is allowed to be there.

7

u/LRAD 1d ago

Where were you January 6th?

-2

u/Open_Dimension9284 1d ago

I was living my life and controlling what is actually in my power. I'll say again follow the laws and don't do anything that could get you arrested. Portest all you want as it is your right as an American. Please do it safely and think about the people around you. God's speed to you. Have a great weekend.

You only have to worry about a LEO if YOU’RE A BAD GUY! SMH

-11

u/ChristinaM_ 1d ago

Well if people didn’t get out of hand and become violent and unhinged there wouldn’t be a need for them to be out there walking around now would there.

9

u/Flux_State 1d ago

Undercover officers are often present to make sure things get out of hand.

I'm not but I'd get a chuckle hearing you try to define "Commie"

8

u/LRAD 1d ago

Where were you on January 6th?

-2

u/ChristinaM_ 1d ago

I’m assuming you think I’m maga, I am not. I just have seen so many of these protests get out of hand.

10

u/LRAD 1d ago

Which protests have YOU seen get out of hand? Have you read about incidents that implicate undercover police as inciting violence and vandalism?

9

u/CyberpunkPopsicle 1d ago

They have a thing against protests apparently. This isn’t the first time they’ve been all up in comments with that shit

5

u/LRAD 1d ago

Pro-Cop, anti-vaccine, both sides!

Besides people taking over a whole block in Seattle during pandemic riots?

7

u/LRAD 1d ago

You were there? You saw it? What did the police do?

Oh right...

https://www.heraldnet.com/northwest/probe-seattle-cops-improperly-faked-right-wing-radio-talk/
https://archive.is/Q8aXk
Seattle police exchanged detailed fake radio transmissions about a nonexistent group of menacing right-wing extremists at a crucial moment during 2020 racial justice protests, an investigation by the city’s police watchdog group shows. The radio chatter about members of the Proud Boys marching around downtown Seattle, some possibly carrying guns, and then heading to confront protesters on Capitol Hill was an improper “ruse,” or dishonest ploy, that exacerbated a volatile situation, The Seattle Times reported. That’s according to findings released Wednesday by the city’s Office of Police Accountability (OPA).

4

u/LRAD 1d ago

OK, but where were you on January 6th?

-1

u/ChristinaM_ 1d ago

My point exactly

2

u/JoanJetObjective13 22h ago

Don’t we wish, but in the Real World those sent to ‘protect’ us often are those we need protection from. But if you or your family or friends haven’t experienced this then you should consider yourself lucky. And maybe you just aren’t aware of what goes on in our country.

Looks like you posted this twice! Removing one copy!

-12

u/OddestEver 1d ago

All you folks acting like participating in a protest is dangerous and you’re going to get your head bashed in. Or that the Everett PD has any interest in surveillance you while you wave your sign. Eavesdropping to hear where you’re going to get your $7.00 chai afterwards. Hilarious.

6

u/LRAD 1d ago

This is your first post on the sub? who the fuck do you think you are?

-4

u/OddestEver 1d ago

Undercover… shh! 🤫

-25

u/jlscott0731 2d ago

Why does it look like he has a bra on as well?

7

u/AvocadoToastMalone 2d ago

That’s the bulletproof vest, silly billy.

-2

u/jlscott0731 1d ago

If you look closely, it looks like there's also the outline of a bra.. I know what a bullet proof vest looks like..

Where in Everett is this?
