(Miscellaneous) 1) Wudu doesn’t involve soap, so it doesn’t protect you against bacteria and viruses. 2) A niqab is not sufficient protection against airborne viruses.

Plus Muslims like other non-western and third world cultures have strong family bonds, always visit each other, have big families and usually not fault of their own live in cramped or crowded housing which increases the likelihood of spreading the virus.
Like just a couple of days ago, my mum, aunt and uncle all visited my ill grandmother who’s suffering from moderate corona-like symptoms for two weeks. I asked my mum that your putting the rest of us in the house at risk by visiting her and she got angry at me.

46.9k upboats? My god what idiots. There is zero evidence that Islamic practices have done anything to reduce the spread. Hell one of the biggest and hardest hit nations is Iran! Maybe Sunnis just ignore that or whatever, but Sunni nations will be just as hard hit.
That's not a "murdered by words!" Muslims, like Christians are going to be prime spreaders because they keep meeting and praying.

I think that the post was upvoted because that lady clapped back at an anti Muslim bigot. You seem to be ignoring the quoted tweet. Her reply was meant to trigger him.
6
Apr 03 '20
Agreed
Even though she’s off with her facts, she still made the bigot look a fool and that’s ok in my book

Wudu (وضوء) is copied from other religions that existed in the Middle East before Islam.
And even if it has all these benefits, it’s actually weird that God who created all these germs is getting any credit for showing us how to clean our selves.

Apr 03 '20
Would you be able to elaborate on Wudu being copied from other religions? Thanks!

Zoroastrianism
http://www.iranicaonline.org/articles/padyab
For the performance of pādyāb, before the kosti ritual, a Zoroastrian is expected to wash with water the exposed parts of the body. The ceremonial ablution of pādyāb takes place as follows: The person first recites an Ašəm vohu prayer. Then he wets the two hands up to the wrists, including the palm and fingers, and washes his face, which is followed by wetting the right hand again and thrice washing the right foot from below the ankle. Then again he wets his right hand and thrice washes his left foot from below the ankle. Then he washes both his hands again up to the wrists and wipes off his hands and face with a clean cloth or towel.
The pādyāb-kosti is performed before a Zoroastrian engages in any religious activity, such as offering prayer or visiting a fire temple. It is also performed after an act that makes a person ritually impure, like visiting a cemetery or after attending the call of nature. It is also done to acquire ritual power, for instance at the turn of each watch of the day.
Not the only thing Mo stole from zoroastrians

Shockingly similar I wasn't even aware of this. It's been 3 years or so since I left Islam but only recently have I been in a state of mind (feeling guilty and doubting my decision) to be able to research and dissect the religion in further detail. Looks like I should look into Zoroastrianism more.

"You're all Muslim". Just the thought of hearing that another time makes me feel scared.

u/mbkanj New User Apr 03 '20
why didn't she mention that Muhammad also told us to wipe our asses with rocks too? and the idea that only muslims do this is ridiculous. Buddhists use water and do absolution before prayers too, does that mean that I have to shave my head and go to the nearest mountain in search of enlightenment. no, that means that you're doing a weird ass ritual and using the suffering of more that million people as of now to justify your stupid belief.

People around the world are in agony, in a crisis, Muslims as well are completely shunned from living their own lives where they want to raise their family or go to school due to quarantine and Muslims use this as an excuse to brag about Sharia Law? How silly and disgusting can you be?

u/mbkanj New User Apr 03 '20
it's really funny how muslims are "CLEANING" themselves by Wudu then going to the mosque and getting the virus because of Salat. maybe this islam thing IS a sham all along.

So a Muslim woman clapped back to an anti Muslim bigot (see his quoted tweet) in a manner to infuriate him and you get offended at her tweet?
I expect this behaviour from white supremacists or hondutva trolls. Maybe they're the ones upvoting this.🤔
8
Apr 03 '20
I’m not offended. I’m just pointing out the flaws in here tweet. Also, I’m not white.

Her reply was meant to trigger the anti Muslim bigot she was replying to. It triggered you. That is sad. You and other users seem to ignore what that guy wrote.
2
Apr 03 '20
So do you think wudu will protect you against the coronavirus?
2
Apr 03 '20
When did I ever say that? Or suggest anything similar to that?
That woman wrote a deliberate reply in order to trigger a bigot who used the corona pandemic to ramble about 'Muslims critical Mass' rubbish.
You chose to ignore that context and somehow got triggered enough to make a post about it on this sub.
I cannot simplify this further for you.
5
Apr 03 '20
That doesn’t make her statement correct though. She’s still factually incorrect.
1
Apr 03 '20
And she never said that wudu takes care of coronavirus. You're probably reading too much into the tweet probably because of your own biases and inability to consider the context.

I don’t disagree with what the guy said. If there comes a point where Muslims make up the majority in the US, ex-Muslims would be killed.
1
u/OhSuketora Apr 03 '20
... are you sure this is a statement you want to represent your opinions with?
2
Apr 03 '20
We already see this happening in Europe: Muslims refusing to assimilate and promoting shariah law. If sharia law were to be enacted, ex-Muslims would be screwed.

There's nothing bigoted about not wanting the population of your country to be dominated by Muslims, at which point sharia is implemented and human rights go to utter shit.

Wudhu - done after you use the bathroom and they do istinjaa so pretty sure they use soap to wash their hands.
Also as far as we know Covid is not airborne
1
May 06 '20
Wudu can be done with or without using the bathroom.
COVID-19 is indeed airborne, hence the social distancing.
0
u/mnoor17 New User May 08 '20
No Muslim does wudhu if they don't need to hence why i mentioned after using the bathroom.
And the virus is NOT airborne what?! If it was we wouldn't be able to leave our homes and social distancing wouldn't be enough. Social distancing is to avoid contact with others who may or may not have the virus but not have any symptoms. Please don't spread blatant misinformation.
1
May 08 '20
My state is currently shut down and not letting people leave their homes unless absolutely necessary. The reason why we have social distancing & face masks is to prevent the virus from spreading via coughing & sneezing. When I was in the ER they couldn’t use a nebulizer on me because it would spread the virus in the air. I was in an isolated unit where staff had to gown up & be completely covered before they could see me.

This can only be topped by the following scenario:
Random bigot: We can't let a Muslim family move into our neighborhood otherwise, our supermarket will force us into eating halal food!
Muslim lady tweets back: Lulz, the toblerone and Snickers that you're eating is halal.
Bigot: (shaking) REEEE
Some days later
Post on r/exMuslim: Screenshot of Twitter conversation, plus the following text: 'Chocolates are not made from zabiha slaughtered meat. Why is everyone applauding that Muslim lady?'
6
Apr 03 '20
Just because she’s Muslim & clapped back doesn’t mean she deserves applause. Her response is stupid, context or not.
-2
Apr 03 '20
Why do you get triggered by a Muslim lady clapping back to a bigot.
FYI, this Boortz guy is an apologist for racists.
If you're a Boortz supporter, I can understand you getting triggered and refusing to understand the context of her remarks.
1
Apr 03 '20
Am I not allowed to criticize Muslims even when they’re clapping back?
I don’t think Boortz should have used the pandemic to spread his agenda. I’m not a supporter & have never heard of him until now. However, I’m just pointing out the inaccuracies in her tweet. She’s acting like Muslims are ahead of the game when it comes to the pandemic because Muslims do wudu and wear the niqab when both of those things aren’t effective against viruses.
I love all of the assumptions you’re making about me btw. Let me guess, do you think I’m a male too?
-2
Apr 03 '20
She’s acting like Muslims are ahead of the game when it comes to the pandemic because Muslims
It seems you're the one making a lot of assumptions from a single Twitter reply. 😉
Let me guess, do you think I’m a male too?
Why would I? Why would I be interested in your gender?
Again, you're thinking too much.

Apr 03 '20
“It seems you're the one making a lot of assumptions from a single Twitter reply.”
It’s not an assumption. That’s what she meant. Read the other comments.
“Why would I? Why would I be interested in your gender?”
Well you were interested in my ethnicity & assumed I’m white & a supporter of the guy she replied to.
“you’re thinking too much”
Well, some one has to make up for your lack of thinking. 🤷♀️

This is so annoying. Throwing water all over yourself isn’t going to prevent viruses if you’re not using soap. Don’t Muslims also put water in their nose and blow it out? Niqab is only for women so are men suddenly immune to the virus all together? I also love how she selectively said they don’t crowd bars but didn’t bring up the fact that many are crowding mosques (especially in Iran and India) and therefore getting sick.
The arrogance and ignorance is astounding.
