Unanswered Threads about alternatives to expensive things

Any community that talks about alternatives to expensive things? For example, instead of traveling to the Amalfi coast, you can go to... Or instead of buying a new German car, a used ... Would be a stronger value.

I think that's close, but some of frugal comes across just as how to spend no money. Thinking more of something highlighting good value.

Like instead of going to the Amalfi coast, go to Portugal because it's less expensive but just as beautiful. Some of the posts in frugal seem like you should just set your desktop to a photo of that place and call it a day.
