Spring in chair cushion going up?

Essentially a spring (what it feels like) has sprung out of place and is now making the chair uncomfortable, by making a bump on the centre of the cushion.

It is risen in the middle of the chair , inconveniently and i was wondering if there is any way to fix this?

Are you sure the padding around it isn't getting more compacted with time making it seem like the center is rising? Just an alternative theory, dunno how suddenly this happened. Seems like it's directly over the base piston? Maybe it came thru the housing.

Anyway computer chairs are mostly made like absolute trash these days. My solution would be find a nice pillow to put on the seat. You could undo all the upholstery, make sure everything is in place and secured, replace the foam, and reupholster the seat. That's.. probably more effort and time than buying a new chair (or a cushion). If something is actually broken inside like the top bracket housing of the piston, you're not going to be able to find replacement parts. Maybe you can fabricate something to fix it.. maybe you can't. The upholstery on a chair like this isn't made to come off or be replaced so you're going to have to get creative there too. Likely it's held on with glue and staples, and will be ruined once you manage to get it off. Overall.. strap a cushion to the seat or buy a new chair is my prediction for  most likely outcomes.

Are you sure its not the tip of the base punching through ?

it’s a spring, i can feel it, like i can push it down but it pops back up right away.

Yeah i think the piston is, but the thing on the cushion is a spring i can sort of grab it through the material , so i’m not sure

That's the obsolescence spring, it's a pain in the arse.
