Any films that presents itself as serious from the outside looking in, only to watch it and realize how much fun the movie has with itself?

In the mood for love. Seems like a straightforward romantic melodrama but there’s a really clever storytelling hook that makes the plotting of the entire thing so much fun.

Such a great film. A love story among fashionable suave people in 1960s Hong Kong…what’s not to like?

Synecdoche, New York

On the first watch it feels like an avant- garde, boring piece of weird crap. Watching it again, realizing it is satire, it’s hilarious.

Anora had me in stitches nearly the whole way through. Though it still manages a few gut punches. It's a wild ride.
