u/Faithless327 there is a digital client to play the regular format Pokémon TCG. It's called Pokémon TCG Live. It's a bit buggy but it works. Desktop works better than mobile but mobile is fine.

If you want to be able to craft a playable deck, I suggest buying 200-300 code cards of paldean fates or a cheap low card count set off of tcgplayer.com. When you get duplicates more than four of one card, you get the currency for crafting new cards. There is no way to spend money in app, so buying packs and using the code card from the pack - or purchasing codes online - is the only way to get in game currency.

Good decklists are on limitlesstcg.com (official tournament results and deck lists) or play.limitlesstcg.com (online tournament results and sometimes deck lists).

Last week, the game added an alternate play queue for unique deck builds like Gym Leader Challenge (GLC) and Singleton also that is a lot of fun if you're not into the standard rotation meta. It also allows you to use old cards that have been rotated out of standard.

I suggest dragapult dusknoir or charizard as a starting deck. The other decks in standard are control decks and are hard for a new player to pilot without a firm grasp on the meta.

Was going to post (a much simpler version of) this if you hadn't, thanks. I was yelling at my car radio THERE ABSOLUTELY IS!

I do agree the TCG pocket meta has stagnated a bit. But I do think the new booster has helped things, at least on my end. I’ve had a lot of luck with both Wugtrio and Gallade centric decks in the new ranked format.

I haven't listened to the episode yet but I'm hyped that Drucker is the guest. That guy is great.

Also, random thought - why is this being crossposted from r/earwolf when the show has been off that network for quite some time now?

I think it's turned into kind of a catch all podcast sub now

It’s basically for any podcasts involving people within the Earwolf/CBB sphere

Re: their discussion on AC Shadows, I think it speaks to how the audience for the Assassin's Creed games has split so hard between those who want a more stealth focused game with more dense cities, and those who want big maps with the action-RPG style of the latest group of games (minus Mirage). AC Shadows has been interesting in that it is trying to (and for the most part succeeding in, I think) cater to both. As someone who likes both styles, it's been an absolute treat for me

What's the We Play You Play for this month? I must have missed it.

I don’t think there has been a We Play, You Play since they did Metaphor: ReFantazio in December.
