Question - Solved Does Heroes 3 HD + has reworked AI?

Hello all, i usually play HOTA with HD+ but lastly i'm feeling like i want play a game with the original settings (Mostly for unnerfed logistics tbh). That made me remember that in the base game, the AI was so bad it made any long hotseat games just boring (Army spread to all heroes, poor item equipment etc..) unless it's a challenge map with huge AI boosts., wich i'm not a fan of..

Thinking about it i feel the best improvement HOTA brought was the updated AI (not perfect but still wayyyy better than the original).

So does any of you know if i launch Heroes 3 HD + from the HD launcher, will i still have updated AI or not?

Thanks in advance

if you open the ERA launcher (which you can install HotA, WoG and others) and go into mod manager, you see some mods there, including an AI mod

Thanks a lot, any idea if it is more similar to Hota ai mod or more like the era (wog?) Human ai script?

Anyway i just uninstalled Era last week cause i felt or was useless cause i wasn't playing wog nor mop from it lol..

I could be wrong, but hota packages should have some AI changes bundled, check it in ERA mod manager, should be the same in standalone hota installation

Yes, Heroes3 HD+ has reworked AI to non-HoTA editions. The last notably major non-HoTA AI rework update was 1/28/2022. The most recent changelog is here:

http://h3hota.com/HD/Update/changelog_en.txt

I suggest using a 'Find text' function and searching "AI" in that field, unless you want to read the whole thing.

HD and Hota only slightly change the AI, mostly fixing issues. If you want a completely different AI than normal, use VCMI and Nullkiller AI in Launcher settings

A wannabe ranger waifu who thinks she can beat Mephala.

xD

Giselle would be so mad if she heard this. You'd lose 50% of your power at least!

Oh no! My slow will last only 11 turns instead of 25.

That ability is worthless unless it is at 100%.

I'd argue that it's really great as it removes most damaging spells as a good casting option.

Unless spell power is disproportionately high to the army size, casting slow or bless at expert level will always inflict more damage than any spell (aside from armageddon but that's special in it's own way).

In short: Yes HD+ mod did change the AI. The best example of this is the AI can now use the "Berserk" spell. Before it couldn't.
