Woah, 70 new shiny skeletons.

I love how he has 70 zombies sitting in his hut, waiting to be exchanged for an axe

He probably has more, just need extra digging

I'll happily trade and transform into skellies. That axe will be replaced in a week or two.

A huge stack of zombies + expert teleport = a problem

Only a small one, mainly for some weak rangeds. Their hits do low damage (comparable to a tier 1) and can easily be kited. There are stronger uses for your spell use.

They do 2-3 damage. Their low-end damage is the mode for tier 2 units and is better than all but two tier 1s (centaurs and knolls). Their high-end damage is lower than the average for tier 2 units (3.6 damage, 4 if you include air elementals), but not abysmal.

You can't kite against human players casting spells like mass-slow and teleport. You can use 1-stacks as blockers, but kiting is for AI.

If you get 70 walking dead and happen to roll water magic + teleport, you can certainly make use of them. Might need more heroes to chain movement points cleverly, and might need to drop the walking dead off at the daycare before ending turn to increase subsequent heroe movement, but 70 walking dead is a strong tank stack.

This man homms.

Acknowledging hommunism is quite okay in this subreddit. You're welcome.

I cropped the rest of the image so that I could make a meme, but you can imagine how useless 70wd are when I cleared the camp for the axe with 3 green dragons and 7 sea serpents.

If you aren't playing necro, 70 walking dead should go to the nearest town, mine, or garrison to defend. And if youre doing well on the map, just delete them.

Or just refuse the seer hut.

I will admit, as others mentioned, that necro is better off with a power stack of skeletons (and vampire lords) to support with "animate dead" spell.

The real problem is that their terrible speed, as well as the opportunity cost of using teleport, makes WD/zombies less valuable despite their good HP. Their attack/defense stats are also quite low. Such a weird unit.

Zombies are so dogshit you're better off upgrading skeletons to skeleton warriors and having an empty slot to raise regular skeletons.

Walking dead/zombies have 1 less speed than skelies, but almost 3 times as much HP and slightly better damage (without bless, which puts them at equal damage).

Skeleton warriors do possess a higher attack and defense skills of 6 and 6 (WD and zombies have attack & defense 5).

The main thing is the speed and the sheer numbers. But my whole point was that getting 70 WD is better than getting 70 skelies if you use teleport.

But it’s never just 70 skelies, especially by the time you got teleport

1

u/Confident_Lake_8225 Nov 30 '24

That is a fair point, power stack of skelies might be more worth it in general. Especially because necro heroes usually roll earth magic and can hope for animate dead. Having one power stack to animate is better than having an additional stack of 70 walking dead/zombies to regen.

But I still think people underrate zombies, especially in the midgame with spells and ranged units to support.

Definitely map dependent, in a poor map zombies are good , in anything with a lot of boxes or banks skelies are better

Blessing skeletons hmm

needing to use teleport is an opportunity cost when you could be casting something else

1

u/Confident_Lake_8225 Nov 30 '24

That is honestly true. But I would still argue that walking dead are not terrible in the mid+late game when you have spells and ranged units.

Having 70 more skeletons might be even better in general, allowing you to better focus on regenerating the power stack with "animate dead".

Welp. Was trying to say upgrade them into Zombies and Altar of Sacrifice. Turned out they only give 1,050 exp, 50 more than the Centaur's Axe. Worthless!

3

u/Irelia4Life Nov 29 '24

Lmfao. And considering I play Mephala, I couldn't even sacrifice them.

u/Hecklel Nov 29 '24

"Michael? Yeah I got you those dancers you were asking for."

70 Walking Dead are gone day 2

Centaur's Axe is forever

2

u/Due-Leave4536 Nov 30 '24

Actually I think it is ok for me when I have a Dragon Utopia in my zone.
70 zombie is a good sacrificial lamb in such situation.

idk seems a like a yes to me. Upgrade and clear a tope imo. Useful meat

1

u/Irelia4Life Nov 29 '24

And then lose turns from -2 morale, yeah, no.

1

u/FreshieBoomBoom Nov 29 '24

70 walking dead can be kept as meat shields for a long time, axe will most likely be replaced sooner or later.

Defenders I guess

Freelancer's guild actually made me appreciate walking dead, turn those useless slobs of smelly meat into precious resources!
